  1. Irvin Arter Jr. did a great build of this kit. Check his Fotki under Chevy Models to find it. Can't miss it - it's bright red with a mean rake. I asked him about assembly when he built it a few years back and he said there were no major snags. http://public.fotki.com/irvinarterjr
  2. What Marc said. Bring it back for replacement. Then the retailer will ship it back to RC/Ertl and try to get a credit. If they're successful, RC takes a $ hit and that's what should happen - seeing as they're not supporting their product anyway.
  3. If so, I'm thinking of lightly sanding the roof, truck and hood to get a slight weathered look. Thanks for the info!
  4. Like I said in my "on the bench" thread, I got this one done Friday evening for NNL East. Pretty much box stock except for shifter, steering wheel, wheels, tires and stance. Rear suspension is out-of-box, but I had to remove the section between the lower A arms on the piece up front to snuggle it down. Paint it Testors lacquer Chevy Nassau Blue polished with Micromesh cloths and Meguiar's #7. I drilled out the hood scoops. White letter tires done with Shabo transfers. Spring is here --> us Northeasterners can take pictures outside again! Thanks for lQQkin.
  5. Shotgun method: If enough people post their pix, we'll get all the models. I had just a great time! So many inspiring builds on the tables, friends to meet, and stuff to buy. I'm full of ideas and parts now...watch out. http://public.fotki.com/FiveTs/nnl-east-2007/
  6. Nice meeting you too, Cruz! Thanks for tracking me down.
  7. Wow, Randy, Awesome work there. You should cast this for the rest of us slackers.
  8. HOT DAM!! Mark, you rule. Great job, you maniac.
  9. Lovin' the flamed paint jobs!
  10. Thanks a lot guys! Yeah, I like to pick a specific era to replicate when I build so the "period correct" comments mean a lot. This one is circa 1970. Plates will be '70 NY tags. Marc, I'd love to see a street rod out of MPCM!
  11. Here's a quick shot from midnight last night. Just have to put some logo decals and plates on her and she's ready for NNL East tomorrow! I'll post better pix next week.
  12. Another winner, Tom! Lookin good. Tired of whitewalls?? Those words don't make sense to me, grouped together like that. :?
  13. Coooool! Great work on the photos too - gotta have sunlight for this one. See ya Saturday...
  14. Very, very nice Ajay! Tastefully done. The wheels look perfect. Nice!
  15. Wicked! Great use of the '36 custom nose, Bob. I may have to steal that idea. What's your diorama - a drive-in? See ya Saturday.
  16. I won't be at "NNL Eats" Friday night, but I'll be at the show Saturday at 9:00 when the doors open. I'll be wearing my Keith Weesner t-shirt and a MCM Message Board name tag. If you see me, give a shout out. I'd like to meet ya. Have a safe trip, everybody!
  17. Aaron, you might be on to something there. Postal anecdote from yesterday: I'm mailing a package and they ask their usual "Anything fragile, liquid, perishable or potentially hazardous in here?" I say "Yes, fragile." She then asks if it's packed carefully. ??? Now why would I need to do that?! Nah, I just threw it in there without any packing and hoped you fine folks at the USPS would get it there unscathed.
  18. Very Nyce! I hope to pick up some of that HoK Kandy Lime at NNL East. Way cool truck, Lyle.
  19. What about the Revell '69 Z-28 302? Externally, in 1/25 scale, the 5ci difference won't matter. Then just find any SBC single-carb intake.
  20. Nice one, Bob!
  21. Cool - I hope to be able to see your work up close at NNL East! I'm sure it will get there in great shape, you did a great job of packing it. "Fra-zhee-lay. Must be an Italian guy."
  22. Glad to see a hot rod coming out of Portsmouth! No matter the color, it's gonna look mean. E-mail me if you need any tips on lowering the nose. Let the paint fly...
  23. Great builds, both of them! I had fun building mine too. A fun, nostalgic kit that has the look right out of the box. Those are far and few between, IMO.
  24. Beautiful! I can't find one flaw. That's just fun to look at. Will it be at NNL East?
