  9. The strangest thing happened when I painted that car. I painted the body and chassis with the Evening Orchid out of the can after primer. When I cleared the body, and rubbed it out, it took kind of a silvery, darker tinge, compared to the chassis. Maybe it was the temperatur when I painted the car. The chassis is a different color shade. Maybe I will take your advice, and take some outdoor pictures when it warms up. It is definitely the Evening Orchard shade I remember. When I was a kid, a friend of mine had a Iris Mist '65 GTO. Weird color , as it changed over the years.
  10. Thanks Bill. As far as I know, the turbocharger was only in the 1965 and 1966 Corsa kits. I had a turbocharger unit for my '66 builder that was cast several years ago. I do not know if any are available.Harold Bradford got my unbuilt '65, and that had a turbo unit in it. Maybe you could get him to cast the pieces. Ron

  14. Ron, The kit builds up fine. The problem I am having is with the paint, which is my fault. This version is moulded in coral(body and interior) and graphite(ghassis and running gear). I have been looking at various reference material on the car, as to what to paint, which color, vs. the instructions, as well as photos of various examples of the car, and I can say that things can get confusing. For instance, if you look at the photographed car on the box lid, as well as the 55 Chevrolet paint application instructions, when you get the Coral and Gray interior, the dashboard, steering wheel and column is shadow gray, while several photos I have seen of both original and restored cars, these parts were coral. I did mine in coral, like the built up model on the box sides. I wish that Monogram had seen fit to include the rocker mouldings and gas door stainless accessories for the kit, since they included the continental kit and the bumper guards. I suppose these parts can be made out of plastic, and that what I have to do if I want them on the car. I have the ability to do so, but at what cost? In the next few days, I will make that decision. I'm almost done with this one, as I have listed the things I must to to finish this beast, then it's on to the next one.
  15. Here is a built-up I resurrected, an original AMT '65 Corvair Corsa Hardtop, which I painted with Testors' Evening Orchid Lacquer, with a White interior, trimmed in Black. Installing that Turbo 6 was a bear, but it had to be there. The paint was a fight, but I had to stick with the color. I had never had one of these when I was a kid, even though I liked Corvairs. I have a '62 Ex-Glue-bomb on deck to be finished. The glue-bombiness has been exorcised from this one, and it's ready for primer. I also have a '63 Convertible, a '64 Coupe, and a '60 Sedan, which has been cleaned up, and is ready for paint.
  16. I started on this one when Revell first introduced this kit, and it is not done yet. Excuse me, but this is the only picture I took of this one. It's just mocked up, and far from done, but it was one of those models I had sitting in the box, and I just have to finish it. I painted it with Model Car World '55 Chevy Coral, with a Testors' Charcoal Gray enamel. This is my favorite color combination for this car. I have about 2-3 more hour's work on this one but it is close to being done.
  17. I did a little more with the Camaro this past week to show it at our meeting. I mounted a set of period 15" x 7" Front/15" x 7" reversed on the Rear, Cragar S/S mounted on Firestone Wide Oval Red Lines. I seems to have that '60's stance, which I am going to leave as is. It will sit a tad lower in front once everything is glued up. I have about another 2-3 Hours worth of work to be done before I can call it done. A little clean-up and touch-up here and there, and some additional parts to add on and line up, and we can call this one done.
