  1. You have that one lookin' good so far. I have one on my to-do list later on in the year.
  2. I haven't decided on the color yet, but it won't be blue.
  3. I like your '60 Bob.
  4. Bill, this one is going to be a real simple curbside. I finished the bodywork tonight, and I am going to hit it with the final primer coat tomorrow.
  5. While that is an excellent idea, the 4-door is the odd ball out of the bunch, besides, I have 2-64 coupes and a '63 convertible to be restored. The 4-door will be a simple 60's cruiser with parts box wheels and tires and will be painted with whatever I come up with from the paint vault. I did a '62 Coupe years ago in Aqua with the white interior, trimmed in aqua, with American 5-spokes which I may change the wheels out to a set of wire wheels with whitewall tires. That car made the Model Cars' contest issue when I built it.
  6. I picked this one up at the Mid Atlantic NNL. This photo is pretty much as I got it. I removed the skirts and the chrome. The "previous" owner used the "1/2 tube of glue" method of building the car. Not overly sloppy, but glued pretty tight. As you can see, the previous owner had hogged out the flashed over holes for the mirrors and spotlights, as well as giving it a rather uneven metallic blue enamel brush job. There must have been some fins glued on the rear fenders, as there was some residue there. I started the bodywork there. The photos show the new Modelhaus bumpers and rear roll pan. There's more at the link. 60 Corvair resurrection
  7. Go ahead! I dare ya!
  8. Grrreat Work!!!!
  9. I did the "Bare Metal" trim on the Impala last night. Everything was going along pretty well until I decided to remove a pin from underneath the hood, in order for the hood to be better aligned with the body. The brittle plastic cracked right at that point. I cleaned up the "wound" to install a new patch. So now, I have to repair that area, and re-paint the hood. I am going to repaint the header panel at the same time. Fortunately I used lacquer paint.
  10. Very Nice!
  11. The Blue and Silver flake interior will give it a '60's look. A Grant 3-spoke wheel with a flake rim from the '60's would work too.
  12. I painted the car, and rubbed out the finish, which was the Testors' Color which is closest to '71 Chevrolet Classic Copper, with Tamiya Clear lacquer. While it is not the exact shade, It looks pretty good, but I have to touch it up a little. A final glaze and wax will come one the Bare-Metal is done. I also added a black vinyl roof, using the Testors’ two-part spray. The finish is a little coarse to me for 1/25 scale, but it is not going no where. I cleaned up the Promo interior. I have to fill the holes from the convertible boot in, and paint it either black, or beige. The dash detail is very crisp. I hope that I can pick it out properly. Now, on to the Bare-Metal Work. 1971 Impala
  13. I am a little low on modeling funds now. If I keep going into that site, I'm going to be broke!
  14. I like that one Phil. The wheels set it off.
  15. My dad had a White on White one, and my uncle had a Frost Green on Jade one, with the upgraded Jade interior and sun roof. I may go for one or two of those.
  16. I believe it's a '65 unless they tooled up a '66 dash independently. There were other inaccuracies in that kit, such as the rear fender script emblem, and the entire interior.
  17. The Lincoln Mark series, III, IV, V has been a car that I have been close to, as my dad had a '71, a '72, a '74, and a '77. In my opinion, the '71 was the best car out of the bunch. The '74 was a special car to me, as my Dad let me pick out the color combination (Dark Blue/Silver Blue roof/Dark Blue interior), and that was the car I drove on prom night. The AMT '69 Thunderbird kit would be the best basis for a Mark III, as they were on the same platform, and the '69 T-Bord kit roof has no adornment on the sail panels. It would not be a project for the faint of heart. The Mark IV and Mark V basis could be the Arii '73 Thunderbird, with a lot of work. One of the board members was doing a '74 Mark IV conversion, which was a killer. I would love to see it in resin.
  18. We just want something to look at Bob.
  19. I like that one so much that I have to do one myself one day.
  20. Here's my phantom '76 Caprice Convertible. It's also in primer, and is further along than the '71 Impala, as the only thing I have to do to this one is paint it. I am considering changing it over to a '75, by changing the front clip, and adding replica stock wheels and tires.
  21. I installed the vinyl roof seams, the fender skirts, and re-primed the car to check my work. While the primer dries, it's on to the interior chassis and powertrain.
  22. The '71 was a completely different car from the '65-'70, but I may have some use for some of the parts. I am going to look at the track of the suspension, and the wheelbase. I was actually planning to make this a wire axle buiild, utilizing the original chassis I have. I may even do it as a curbside, and glue the hood shut. I don't build for contests, only for myself and the members of the board's enjoyment. Thanks for the suggestion though, as using the Revell kit may cut doen on building time, and give me some added detail.
  23. I scratchbuilt the fender skirts, and filled in the sink marks in the roof today.
