You did an absolute, wonderful job. I love it!
-
It took me forever to do this, due to a short attention span. I started on it when the kit first came out, and the truck was brand new, and just finished it earlier this year. I have an S10 twin to it somewhere inmy basement!! Nice kit though.

Jairus!!!! I am loving this build. I am not a big fan of the '58's, but the '57 is on my to do list. I have one of All American's '57 Country Squires. Of course you know I am not going to make a "rattie" out of it, but it is not going to be a Replica Stock, as I have a pretty nice collection of HOK paints, so an intense color will not be a problem. One of these days...

A strange thing happened just before I painted this one. My father died. Working on this one will get me through the next few days. While I had already did one of his tribute cars, , a Sierra Gold '58 Impala built from the new Revell kit is going to be done sometime next year. I'll get some pics out after everything is over.

Yeah Baby! I'm working on mine too. Just painted it yesterday.

1/25th '70 Mercury Cougar?
Ron Hamilton replied to MPi-KM's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
I have one of the convertibles, and I can say it matches up very well to my oriiginal unbuilt hardtop kit. All you need is an AMT '73 Cougar for the rest of the parts, and you're good to go. -
81 Firebird..Glue Bomb...I Can Save It
Ron Hamilton replied to Space Cowboy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
One suggestion for this one, move the deck lid spoiler back to where the trunk lid edge and rear fender edges do not show. Those kits were notorious for poor panel fit. -
Well, I got a little done to the 'ol gal the last couple of days. Thursday, I removed the moulded in door handles in order to do separate handles, as well as defining the mouldings on the upper doors and fins, re-scribing the door and trunk lines. before after I sourced the actual tire and wheel package I intend to use on the model, and I added a wash to bring them out. It's ready for paint, so that I can work over the interior.

Another Recycled Model. 1960 Edsel Cconvertible.

John, Steve's and your builds are exquisite. I am planning on Red, with a Red and Silver Interior, and White up-top, just like in the Edsel Brochure. (Thanks Howard!) Ron -
The reissue AMT '62 Electra 225 will give you the complete engine. Any Revell 1959 or 1960 Chevrolet will give you the door handles and windshield wipers I believe. I haven't sourced the handles yet.

Now, that looks marvelous Dave!!!! I decided to do some further work on the Buick today. I kind of went overboard, as I removed the door handles and scribed in mouldings around the fins and the upper front doors. I may two-tone the car now. The model was meant to be just a clean-up and re-paint, but now, I have re-did the body work. I'll prime it tomorrow so I can see how much more work I have to do.

My good friend Howard Weinstrein made me an offer I couldn't refuse. A restorable 1960 Edsel Convertible. The car was unpainted, and other than the glue marks from the old AMT "Customizing Accessories", it was in great shape, and ready to be worked on. Howard provided me with some fresh chrome (Thanks Howard!!) and some information about the one-to-one, which should help me on this build. I found some shots of an absolutely georgeous Red one for sale on Ebay. The start of this one is a little ways away, as I have several projects in front of it.

John, Thanks for the comments. I agree with you concerning the wheelbase on this kit, as the wheels, as well as the ride height needs to be adjusted. I have a couple of the Revell 1959 Chevy up-tops in my stash, and after looking at yours, I may have to fashion an up-top for mne, after all, it is not sunny and warm all of the time. I seem to be going crazy with these 1960 Convertibles. Last Saturday, my "Big Car Connection", aka Howard Weinstein, sold me a 1960 Edsel Convertible, which was in need of restoration. It was complete as far as my needs go, except that it needs a set of fender ornaments, and some serious bodywork, to remove the remnants of those AMT '60 customizing pieces, and the attending glue marks. I'll post the pics under it's own header.

The old Buick is now up on its wheels. I used the Buick Skylark wire wheels from the Modelhaus on this one, with a set of original 1961 vintage AMT Tires. I plan to change the tires to a set with a wider white wall, and once I detail wash the wheels, they will really pop!!! I love this view of the car!!! I plan to paint it before the cold weather sets in.

A friend of mine had a '71 Camaro in that color back in the day. Your build looks much better than his car.

Beautiful Work so far!!!!

1965 Dodge Coronet 500 by Polar Lights
Ron Hamilton replied to JayC's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I bought most of the Polar Lights kits, but have only built one '64 GTO. I originally wanted to make a quick, out of the box build out of it, but I got kind of got carried away with it, polishing out the paint, detailing the interior, adding Bare Metal Foil, washes for the wire wheel covers and grilles, some "Last Detail" decals, red lined tires, and the appropriate Model Car Garage photoetch details. It was still done in a few hours, as compared to a few weeks for most of my other builds. While quite simple, I liked what I built. I have a couple of the original AMT '64 GTO Hardtops on my collection, and they do look better than the Polar Lights version in my opinion, but not by much. I just did not care for the moulded in headlamps. I have a Polar Lights' '64 GTO Convertible in the queue, which I hope will be another "Quick Build" The '65 Coronet 500 is another story. I think it could be made into a decent representation of the one-to-one, but it will take a lot more work. I stripped the paint off of a white one, and put it back in the box. I also have a resin copy of the AMT kit, utilizing a chassis form a Lindberg '64 Dodge in primer. I may build both of them side by side, to do as a comparo. -
Frontier Resin Design

Run!!!! If you can't run, Fly!!! I would pass on that thing. Even Bill Geary couldn't fix that pig without going crazy. They will never get my money. -
Bob, I was good to finally meet you at the club meeting. I'm digging the Rommel's Rod you are doing. The '70 Super Bee is quite nice too. Ron

Charlie, Rubbing out a windshield takes a lot of patience, and the right materials. I normally will see how deep the scratch is. if it is more than half as deep as the glass, I will leave it alone. If the scatch is not as bad. I will use polishing pads, starting with a 2400 grit, working up through each to a 12000 grit. After the polishing pads, I will rub the glass out with #3 Novus Polish, followed up with #2 Novus polish with a clean soft cloth.
