  1. Thanks! I had to step it up a few notches so you and KK would keep me around.
  2. I was the one most vocal at requesting to see this model with fresh, color photography. I actually saw it quite a while back on your Fotki as I snoop around there regularly. I saved all the pictures to my home PC in case yours ever go away. There was never a Modeler's Corner I didn't enjoy but the May '90 edition where you showed how to build this truck is my all time favorite. As for the truck, man does it look good for it's age! And you just absolutely nailed The Look. Okay, next request. Your final project for Modeler's Corner was a chopped '30 Sedan with a 429 engine, tube frame and pro-street style tires out back. The rear fenders were widened inward the width of the tires. It was bad ass!
  3. Oh, the engines definitely have plenty wrong. Neither one of them is scaled correctly. They're both narrow and the Chrysler is a touch short. The SBC intakes don't fit other engines because of this and the valve cover mounting surfaces on the heads are on the wrong angle. But, here they both are re purposed and kit bashed a little bit. They get the job done.
  4. Yeah, the Slingster scoop is small but then so is this Hilborn piece also perched atop a 2-port injector on a 6-71 blower. Like the model kit, it's barely big/long enough to fit.
  5. Thanks a bunch, Tim! Positive comments from you always mean a ton to me.
  6. Thank you, everybody, for all of your nice comments. Every one of them means a lot to me! I'm very pleased with how this model turned out. It's exactly how I envisioned it and definitely some of my best work to date. If I could build myself a '32 Roadster right now, I'd copy this model down to every detail!
  7. Looking awesome, Bill! I just love the firewall and foot well
  8. There were some definitely molded in black. A few years ago I built this using original black 60's plastic cab, bed, grill and some other pieces. I acquired it with a bunch of stuff from my Dad that he had kept since he was a kid.
  9. Thanks for all of the good info, Tim! Did you happen to notice if there's an extra set of tinted glass included???
  10. So fresh off of the workbench there was still wet gloo when I took the pictures! I built this '32 Roadster to represent an early 50's hot rod built during the transitional era from Flatheads to overhead-valve engines like the Buick "Nailhead" which debuted in 1953. Chassis: Revell 1932 Ford series frame back-dated with a Revell 1940 Ford center "X" and rear cross member. Revell '32 series dropped axle front suspension. Revell '48 Ford rear axle and suspension. Brakes: Early Ford brake plates and Buick finned drums from Revell '29 Roadster / '30 Coupe. Wheels & Tires: Revell '29 Roadster / '30 Coupe with Revell '40 Convertible "Deluxe" hubcaps. Engine & Trans: Buick block, cylinder heads, timing cover, water pump, belt drive and modified headers from Revell '29/'30 Fords. Revell '57 Chevy fan and generator. Revell Tony Nancy 22jr valve covers and oil pan. AMT '40 Ford 3-carb intake with Revell Tweedy Pie carburetors. ProTech fuel line and fittings, Detail Master wired distributor. Revell Tweedy Pie adapter bellhousing and early Ford 3-speed trans. Body: Revell "Rat Roaster" '32 Roadster and windshield. Revell '32 Series grill, small headlights and '50 Pontiac taillights. Interior: Modified Revell '40 Ford dashboard and steering wheel. Modified Monogram 1930 Ford Touring seat and side panels. Revell '32 Roadster floor & bulkhead. AMT vintage seatbelts. Paint: Tamiya Racing White, Gloss Black, Light Gunmetal and Light Earth.
  11. Thanks for such a nice post! Happy New Year to you, too. Stay tuned. If you've seen my channeled white Buick "powered" '32 Roadster project thread, that car should done tomorrow if everything goes right!
  12. Thanks so much Mr. Woodruff!
  13. For the red and blue Coupes, yes. They are my most recent completions so if you search my posts they should be easy to find. The red coupe is especially we documented. I never did a project thread for the black truck. Not on this site, anyhow.
  14. Both flatheads are kit-bashed using various Revell source kits like they're '40 Ford, '48 Ford Convertible and '48 Ford Custom Coupe. They come with very nicely engraved heads and intakes. In both cases I stripped the chrome plating off of the heads and detail painted them. I also added the usual ignition wires and fuel plumbing.
  15. Thank you! And yes, Orange Crate wheels and tires on the blue coupe.
  16. Here's 3 traditional hot rods I finished last year.
  17. Well I got one today for my birthday. I'm pleased.
  18. This is awesome! The truck front end really works yet I don't think I'd have ever thought of it myself. I love the lightly weathered finish and the hubcaps are different in a cool way!
  19. Nice post, Bill. Yes, the original full scale Ala Kart does have a chromed rear cross member.
  20. I really dig it! Great color choice and decal layout. I know it comes in the kit but I also really like the injected Olds engine.
  21. UPDATE! Had some bench time yesterday and decided to do some more work on this thing. I cut out the rest of the floor and rear cross member then grafted in a Monogram '29 Roadster Pickup rear cross member. I then conjured up a quick change rear axle using the center and tubes from AMT's '25 T kits, end flanges / brake plates / finned drums from Revell's newer '29 Roadster / '30 Coupe, made hanger brackets and hung an AMT '29 Roadster spring. The ladder bars are from Revell's '40 Ford street rods and so is the forward mount which is a modified split wishbone rear mount also from the '40 kits. I still need to add shocks and some other details but the hurdle was getting to this point.
  22. I haven't even been alive for 40 years! Barely turning 39 in a couple of weeks. Collectively, I've been at it for about 25 years. Had a break in there for real cars, girls and early - mid 20's debauchery.
  23. Here's a pair of vintage dragstrip '27 Roadsters, both based on Altered States resin bodies. A '25 Roadster Pickup on a shrunk down '32 frame. A '25 T C-Cab done T-Bucket style based off of the Fruitwagon reissue. And a chopped '25 Coupe on heavily modified '32 frame. I wishnow that i had done some engine detailing on this. It looks a bit plain.
  24. Thanks for the really nice message! I really miss that T Roadster sometimes. I wish circumstances had been different but buying a house and getting married in the same year (6 months apart!) was a bit hard on my wallet! At least I still have my hot rodded '32 Pickup, though. You're right, my approach to building models is the same as full size hot rods both in design and execution. After settling on a pile of parts I build them twice. Once completely in the raw and only when every last detail is figured out do I break them down and do paint & finish work. Regardless of scale, it's the only way to work.
