Thanks so much Mr. Woodruff!

For the red and blue Coupes, yes. They are my most recent completions so if you search my posts they should be easy to find. The red coupe is especially we documented. I never did a project thread for the black truck. Not on this site, anyhow.

Both flatheads are kit-bashed using various Revell source kits like they're '40 Ford, '48 Ford Convertible and '48 Ford Custom Coupe. They come with very nicely engraved heads and intakes. In both cases I stripped the chrome plating off of the heads and detail painted them. I also added the usual ignition wires and fuel plumbing.

Thank you! And yes, Orange Crate wheels and tires on the blue coupe.

Here's 3 traditional hot rods I finished last year.

Revell Greased Lightning '48 Ford 'Vert
Dennis Lacy replied to stavanzer's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Well I got one today for my birthday. I'm pleased. -
This is awesome! The truck front end really works yet I don't think I'd have ever thought of it myself. I love the lightly weathered finish and the hubcaps are different in a cool way!

I really dig it! Great color choice and decal layout. I know it comes in the kit but I also really like the injected Olds engine.

60's Style Chopped '34 Ford 5-Window Coupe UPDATED 11/19/18
Dennis Lacy replied to Dennis Lacy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
UPDATE! Had some bench time yesterday and decided to do some more work on this thing. I cut out the rest of the floor and rear cross member then grafted in a Monogram '29 Roadster Pickup rear cross member. I then conjured up a quick change rear axle using the center and tubes from AMT's '25 T kits, end flanges / brake plates / finned drums from Revell's newer '29 Roadster / '30 Coupe, made hanger brackets and hung an AMT '29 Roadster spring. The ladder bars are from Revell's '40 Ford street rods and so is the forward mount which is a modified split wishbone rear mount also from the '40 kits. I still need to add shocks and some other details but the hurdle was getting to this point. -
I haven't even been alive for 40 years! Barely turning 39 in a couple of weeks. Collectively, I've been at it for about 25 years. Had a break in there for real cars, girls and early - mid 20's debauchery.

Show Your T's
Dennis Lacy replied to Terry Jessee's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Here's a pair of vintage dragstrip '27 Roadsters, both based on Altered States resin bodies. A '25 Roadster Pickup on a shrunk down '32 frame. A '25 T C-Cab done T-Bucket style based off of the Fruitwagon reissue. And a chopped '25 Coupe on heavily modified '32 frame. I wishnow that i had done some engine detailing on this. It looks a bit plain. -
Chopped & Channeled 1932 Ford Sedan Hot Rod UPDATE 9/3/17
Dennis Lacy replied to Dennis Lacy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Thanks for the really nice message! I really miss that T Roadster sometimes. I wish circumstances had been different but buying a house and getting married in the same year (6 months apart!) was a bit hard on my wallet! At least I still have my hot rodded '32 Pickup, though. You're right, my approach to building models is the same as full size hot rods both in design and execution. After settling on a pile of parts I build them twice. Once completely in the raw and only when every last detail is figured out do I break them down and do paint & finish work. Regardless of scale, it's the only way to work. -
1957 Ford Del Rio Ranch Wagon Finally Finished
Dennis Lacy replied to Metalmad's topic in Model Cars
I saw this in the flesh at the Spirit Of Speed show a couple weeks back. It's absolutely awesome! Definitely the best '57 Ford Wagon I've seen built so far. -
As requested by Tim Hoffman & Others....1931 Model A Closed Cab Pickup
Dennis Lacy replied to tim boyd's topic in Model Cars
Wow, I've never seen this truck before but I love it! The truck is very telling of a time when billet parts were starting to find their way on to resto-rod type cars and there was a definite V6 craze happening. That you made the cab back from sheet styrene is very impressive, it looks right-on! I would love to be able to see the steps of that from the how-to article. Aside from the conversion I really dig the the color scheme and the parts selection in-general. The stance is also perfect and the dropped headlights really accentuate that! In '88 when your article was fresh I was only 8 years old, had just been introduced to models and hadn't discovered SAE or Modelers Corner yet. I never ended up with any back issues that far back. -
Model T Speedster #12 (RAJO-Powered Vintage Beach Racer)
Dennis Lacy replied to misterNNL's topic in Model Cars
This is very in keeping with the theme of TROG and just the sort of heavy patina gow job a guy would "throw together" for the beach. I love the Rajo conversion, Winfield-esq carbs and mechanical brake details! -
Model T Speedster #38 (Frontenac Powered Vintage Beach Racer)

This is so cool. talk about late 20's period perfect. I could picture this storming across Harper's Dry Lake with a cloud of alkaline dust behind it! You've even got the leather aviator helmet and goggles on the seat ready to go. -
Another one of my old favorites from your bench and Modeler's Corner! I know it's not a truck, but I also loved the pro-street '30 Sedan you finished up as a finale for the column. That thing looked tough as nails!

1934 Ford Coupe - Pete Chapouris´ California Kid
Dennis Lacy replied to Koellefornia Kid's topic in Model Cars
Very cool and one of the most iconic hot rods of all time! You should do Jerry Slover's pro-street California Kid II as a companion. -
I finished one up a couple of months back. Finished thread here:

Wow! Absolutely incredible traditional hot rod. I love everything about it. Especially impressive chassis work with the scratch built center "X". Stance is perfect and the wood frame in the top opening is killer. This was a fun project to follow and just turned out totally awesome!

When it comes to '40 Coupes I'd definitely take a Standard over a Deluxe. This is absolutely beautiful! I'm pretty sure that even though Maroon wasn't available on Standard models the dealers would let you special order a Deluxe color if you insisted or had a business that required a specific color.

Wow, that's extremely flattering to know! I've got loads of respect for him and have enjoyed his models for many years. -
Chopped & Channeled 1932 Ford Sedan Hot Rod UPDATE 9/3/17
Dennis Lacy replied to Dennis Lacy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
They sure are! Yeah, dull coating the centers might be an option. I'll be able to decide easier once I make a decision on the color scheme which I'm also going back and forth on. -
Chopped & Channeled 1932 Ford Sedan Hot Rod UPDATE 9/3/17
Dennis Lacy replied to Dennis Lacy's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I'm struggling with that. Do you hope I do or hope I strip and paint them?
