  1. Very interesting, thanks for sharing it with us . Ed Shaver
  2. I had one of them, ( Starlight coupes ) to re- install the glass on back I guess in 1989. I sweated for hours as I was scared to death that I was going to pinch the rope as I was putting the rear glasses in . I felt like going on a perminate vacation when I finished a couple of hours later . Oh , it was all cold and icy outside when I did that job too ! Would you beleive that Studebaker was Black too ? Ed Shaver

  6. George , you wold subsiquently put these resin castas outta business ! Course too, I wouldn't have the satisfaction of the slow delivery, the fraudulent schemes , Lousy parts , ( Apperence ) An of course flimsy excuses I see all to often on this board ! Ed Shaver
  7. Daniel, three questions . How did you obtain such realistic effects on the Lamp shades , the plumbing joints and of course, the bricks ? Ed Shaver
  8. I worked in Mesa years ago. I was never so happy to leave the area . Ed Shaver
  9. Looks to me as though you have studied some 1964 and 65 Car Craft and perhaps Hot Rod magazines . This was the era of the sky high in the air Funnycar . I agree, in order to have a realistic racer, one would need to radius the rear wheel house as the Drag slicks of the time would need room so as to not rub the body or , blow out . Ed Shaver
  10. Seeing this reminds me of the L. E. D . watches . Texas Instrument calculators that were hand held , hell, the first Tandy Instrument computer ! Yeah,Buck Rodgers stuff. Still, General Motors showed Motorama guests the kitchen of the future featuring a Microwave oven in one of those Futureliner busses too........... "Computer- Coffee hot , Black with some sugar "............ Ed Shaver
  11. Harry, this might sound like answer to someone who is "Computer - Literate ". However , most of this is just over my head . When someone candumb it down to a simpleton like me who saw huge computers in 1958 at a local I B M branch .......... Ed Shaver
  12. Hummmmm, seems that a dollhouse sack of flour might look realsistic . I would look at Doll house suppliers and or stores . Ed Shaver
  13. Don't need to, I watched him all day at a show . Ed Shaver

  16. Wait till yer eyesight is as bad as mine . Then you will beg to do 1-25th scale . Meanwhile , enjoy the little ones while ya still can........... Ed Shaver
  17. Mike, you can make an operating Overhead door . You make slides by using some .060 Evergreen cut to about 1/8th of an inch . Use .010 Evergreen glued to the .060 sides to make a "U " shaped channel. The doors will slide with in this channel if you use some Evergreen "Half- Round " behind the door as the "Rollers ". The door sections were cut into 1 " sections with take adhered to the back side . This allows the door to "Hinge " . The radus needed that I use is a simple 16 oz paint can . Ed Shaver
  18. Carl, I beleive it's John Reid who did the How I build diorama thread . Look closely at his work . You need to be careful in striking a delicate balance of Clean , too clean and too worn . I hope that makes my point clearer . Mabye I can present it in pictures if that still dosen't make sense . Ed Shaver
  19. What a place, Chicago......... I bought a 69 Ford Econoline from a guy in Crown Point years ago. I drove it to Houston where I was in the van accessory business. Years later , the steering box seperated from the sub frame as I was comming off the North FWY, ( I-45 ) . Needless to say , I had to kick a tire straight as I limped it onto the service road as I was right next to the freeway too. A friend of mine helped me make a plate and we ran grade 8 bolts through the plates to hold thebox up on what was left of the sub frame . A couple of years later , the gas tank finially rusted through . Thats when I finially retired the ole van........... Ed Shaver
  20. While not a 55 Chevrolet , close enough for the Young fans ! Ed Shaver
  21. Interesting, I wouldda liked to have seen that . Ed Shaver
  22. Looks like you used Basswood. The grain is beautiful . You really need to study a 1-1 garage as I may too quick to jump on this , but it's too sterile . Seriously, look at a typical shop and then study the "Super Sanatary " dioramas that pass for dioramas in shows . I like the overal layout . You obviously have done the homework there . Ed Shaver
  23. Mark, even in the old 1980's issue or Skips Fiesta , the custom options were some skirts and baby Moons and some cheesy decals . That issue was molded in a Peach color or Salmon. In fact , I can't even recall how long it's been since Revell had the few Custom options that that kit had . I know back in 1960, it had a battery operated motor that was avalible . Hey, customizing the 59 is really easily done . You can always raid an A M T 57 Ford Fairlane for some ideas . Ed Shaver
  24. Too bad , they don't have folks like John Wayne in Hollywood no mo ........ Ed Shaver
  25. How bout a Convertable Hudson .................... ? Ed Shaver
