  1. Mabye a hundred or so built J.......... I build models as support vehicles within my vast collection , now 200 gasoline pumps . Powere to building mo Gas pumps !!!!!!! Ha Ha........ Ed Shaver
  2. Well, since Krylon paints match the actual paint chips I have on hand for gasoline pumps , yes ! Now to expand upon that, I build models of gas pumps and service stations . I would,t dare just apply a coat of paint toa bare surface without at least a skim coat of primer first ! Thats the same as not bothering to sand yer 1-1 car and just shoot paint on it too. Wanna take side bets on how long it actually stays ? Ed Shaver
  3. Roy , while I wont divulge as to how many I actually have , lets just say I have enough to stock a Hobby store . I have them not because I'm investing in old plastic , iv'e got em on account of what I do with them . First I will build a lot of "Replicia Stocks " out of Hot rod kits . Yes , that sounds confusing . I also have them on hand for a ten year building plan to duplicate actual service stations , resturants , and a drive in . Since I refuse to pay "Yuppie speculator " prices for so called , Out of production kits , If I can see a stock replicia out of a kit , it's bought . Ed Shaver
  4. Caz , for you're viewing pleasure , I presemnt the G M C L'Universalle van- 1956 Ed Shaver
  5. Ya know , I'm really offended here ! You Armchair engineers who have egos the size of Mt Shasta should be ashamed of yerselves . These kits have yet to go to market and you're on then like stink on Poop. No wonder the Model companies only want to do re=pops of 32 Fords !!!!!! Thats all..... Ed Shaver
  6. This one was built using a combination of both a Revell 1931 Sedan and a A M T 1929 kit to make a 1931 Ford Model A tudor sedan : This one is a 1929 jalopy racer I did from old photographs to show a typical roadster from 1948 : Ed Shaver
  7. Very well done photography !!!!!!!! Ed Shaver
  8. O K , when will Moebeus do a 55 Chrysler station wagon so I can pretend I'm Sky King ? Ed Shaver
  9. Scott, I used to have a beautiful antique bookcase that had adjustable shelves that was given to me by my Grandmother upon her death. Well, I made the desision to return to the Metroplex and I had to sell it to raise expenses . The cabinet had glass doors . I got a decent price for it and I regret having to sell it as the position I accepted in Arlingotn never worked out to my satisfaction. I wound up returning here to Virginia . Being as I used to manufacture cabinets for vans and a few select customers in Deep Elum , I just never got around to building a duplicate . For what it's worth, the cabinet measured 4et X 6ft X 10in. Ed Shaver
  10. Here ya go, a Jada 1964 Chevrolet Impala wagon : Ed Shaver
  11. Since we all have similar body parts , we all have an opinion too. There, I gave mine ! Ed Shaver
  12. As Gomer Pyle would say , "Well................. goooooooooollllllllllieeeeee, uh I used to do that too ! Uh, I still do Harry ! Ed Shaver
  13. Thats a nice touch there , uh what you did with the side windows ......... Ed Shaver
  14. In the Medium / Heavy duty line , without a doubt , the White C O E 's from 1948-53. These trucks were hands down the most streamlined and to me , best looking . I even know one guy who took one gutted the interior and Drag raced the darn thing in 1968. If I'm not mistaken , Car Craft magazine featured it . I guess my next favorite might be a G M C Astro 95. I guess thats the one truck I could actually abuse and it still ran halfway decent . Ed Shaver
  15. Jim, are they the cars you had in Primer at the previous meeting ? Ed Shaver
  16. This would only apply to some of the big truck drivers out there but I learned how to drive an old Brockway with a Tri Plex stick . That means you have two shifters . The first shift sicck goes 1-5 . The second stick is for "Splitting each gear three times ". Litterly, one reached trrough the steering wheel shifting one stick and stirring the other to keep the revs up on those ole worn out engines . I havent seen a Duplex box or a triplex box since I lived in South Oregon back in 1974. I liked my old 1959 G M C "Crackerbox" with it's 5spd and a electric splitter on the shifter . Of course these transmissions had their limitations too. Ed Shaver
  17. Ray, if I'm not mistaken , I beleive the scripts were photoetched as part of Model Car Garage's A M T 1950 Chevrolet Freet. Trust me on the 1-1 trucks , there wasn't a whole lot of difference until 1954 when Chevrolet finially went to a Curved glass on the front windshield . Oh the grile changed into that prototype for a latter day Dodge , but thats another subject . Ed Shaver
  18. Considering the way things have gone lately, I would strongly sugest a P- M as opposed to publicly expressing ones feelings . Certain people here like to take advantage of a situation and blow it out of proportion . Ed Shaver
  19. Most impressive work there . I'm going to follow the outcome of this build . Ed Shaver
  20. Sorry to dissaapoint ya , but Mark is correct . Corvettes were the only ones to have the tri carb option . Full size sales were waining really bad in all the American lines . Ed Shaver
  21. Hummmmmm, if it comes from Don , it has to come ! I know Donn Yost an he's one of the Reall kickk butt straight shooters out there !I think Donn has too much reputation to lose by saying somebody is a going to do something only to have it fail. Ed Shaver
  22. Drew, I was an advertising major at Virginia Commonwealth University 1972-3 . There , I studied the art of developing both Color and Black and white films . we were required to make a Pin hole camera and actually use it . Now while this isn't a copy of Petersons Photographic , its photography and art combined . The photo you shared of the old truck cab in B & W is stunning , well to me it is . Heck I see a grizzled ole cowhand reaching over to open a Lonestar Beer. I can tell he earned every penny he ever fought for too. You can tell the hard life he's encountered by the bullitt holes in the truck . One season of raising Tobacco will teach ya all about what LABOR is all about. Me, I have actually done a little of both. I worked in an Earl Schieb shop to support my going to college at night . Yes , I actually helped raise some tobacco too. You havent seen what workin in the fields can do to age someone . Drew , thanks for sharing such an interesting piece . I think you now need to do a model based upon such a truck say a Revell 50 Ford or a A M T 50 Chevrolet . Either will make a fine candidate ! Ed Shaver
  23. Larry , definetly a trend setter ! I'm sure he will enjoy his eternal resting place as he wil color it a more beautiful place for all who come ! Ed Shaver
  24. In the 1-1 worl, the Cast iron covers were either a Dealer option or from the factory in the 430 cu incher 59-60 Lincon engine . I would on occasion actually see a set of them on the 60-1 lincons I used to work on when I first started doing body work in my day . Ed Shaver
