Fruehauf Tanker Texaco Truck
Eshaver replied to toplessfury's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Be glad ya don't build the major dioamas I do . dropping a couple of thousand is about average on one of my complete service stations . Ed Shaver -
I 'm reminded of my youth by Mark Moore here , AKA Bluesman . I was sent an e-mail by the owner of Still Runnin magazine announcing several things I needed to be made aware of . First an old friend of mine , Marty Martino has just completed the complete frame off restoration of the 1955 Chevrolet Biscayne 4dr H T . What ya never heard of it ? I bet ya never ever saw a Pontiac Club de Mer either . Marty sold the Clone of the car last year . Now while I did sucessfully build a model of the G M C L' Universalle , I never got the 1-1 clone I was attempting to do done completely as Marty has done here http://www.meadowbrookconcours.org/ Go see these cars ! Mr. Bortz seldom if ever shows his collection ! Ed Shaver

Looks like some fine buildin goin on down in the Tarheel state folks . Ed Shaver -
I don't care , whenever I see either a built , restored or even an unbuilt Jo- Han , Revell, or the S M P / A M T annuals , I remminess. Yes, I go back to a time when I carried the newspaper , mowed yards , moved brush , shoot did what ever I could to earn enough to buy another kit . Yep, A M T really Blew it when the destroyed, sold , destroyed , and scraped a lot of their old tools ........... Ed Shaver

Have ya'all seen either the 1953 Ford Country Squire or his Sedan Delivery courier ? Great projects ! Ed Shaver

The Dunlop racing tires intriguge me , I just wish I knew what wheels to use on them ........ Ed Shaver -
John , as a rule , I don't much participate in drag racing . I'm old enough to remember this one though . I think you deserve an "A ++ " as you certainly outdid yerself to this build ! Ed Shaver

As I'm not a "Tuner " guy , I'll not comment on the wheels . The engine parts look real fine though . Ed Shaver

Early Chevs from the 20's and 30's
Eshaver replied to Speedster's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Charlie , Testors does a 1941 Coupe thats at least salvageable into a stocker with some work . You'll need a A M T as a donor car for some pieces . In fact , with not too much work , the A M T 1925 Ford Model T kit will yield a couple of vintage Chevrolets too , WITH MODIFICATIONS .......... Ed Shaver -
Kevin , George 53 had a similar experence . I'll let him tell ya what really happened ! Ed Shaver

First, I'm with ya on the "Un-chopped " 1948 Ford coupe. I guess they think we're not capible of using tools . like the Government , you know , we as model builders can't live with the surrealistic forgettable early 1970's disco era reuns . An ya'all wanna know why I went on a hiatus from 1970 to 1988. gee wizz kids , I was havin too much fun buildin customized vans ! Ed Shaver -
try 81................. Ed Shaver
-
O K , great start ......... You might want to liven it a little with a figgure looking at the carcass. hey mebbie a tree or two sitting in the back or growing through the car....... just a thought . Ed Shaver
-
Dang it , II hate gettin old ! Ed Shaver
-
Casey, I wish you had included some information on that kit . I'm not aware of it . sure would have been great as to how the innards look ........ Ed Shaver
-
Phill, if we ever wind up competing with one annother , you will win hands down . Ed Shaver

Hey Art, correct me if I'm wrong , but didn't ole Sky King have a Chysler for awhile in the ol T V series ? Dang , I'm gettin too darned old ! I'll be 60 this year ! Ed Shaver

Dylan, A M T did both a 71 and a 72 as their ole fast Back and supposed G T or Boss kits . Either one is a kibash of old M P C tooling and both will require extensive research as to the inaacuraces of either kit . Someplace , I have the 72 , but I'm not sure where . I used to do a lot of repairs on the 1-1 cars years ago . I'm too dang tall to get into one of them and be comfortable . I'll stick with my 53 Ford Truck . Ed Shaver

Out of de blue several weeks ago, ole Alan from Ma's resins gives de Turkey man, me an E-mail. O K , I opens it an wadda know , he wants me to do a revue on his products . Well we all know Alan now provides all of the old Satco tire line up in his outstanding collection . Still, I asked him about doing the old A M T "Compact " tires from the 1961-2 annuals and guess what , he's gonna do em too ! These tires are scarce as , well , hens teeth !I need a few to complete both a 1960 Ford Falcon and a 1961 Buick Special station wagon . These both will become part of the new Twin Chimney Crown station diorama I'm slowwwwwly getting built . I'm having to really scratch build a lotta stuff . Dave at R and D Unique attests to this . O K , lets get to packaging. In Advertising as well as marketing , packing you'r e goods is important . This was the thing that impressed me most about the boys at Round -2 , their sturdy boxes ! Alan is NO EXCEPTION . This guy put everything in a nice corragated box and within the box, EVERYTHING is seperated by plastic and peanuts ! I mean to tell ya , this guy don't screw around ! The tires were individually packaged in HEAVY Polyethylene clear plastic ! Same went for the Beautiful Dana rear end ! Not only that , but he casts this rear in a Silver resin , whew ......... !!!!!!!! Hey , enough of me goin on bout nuthin , heres living proof ! Now I will be using Alan - uh Ma's resin products to convert a A M T 1960 Chevrolet Pick Up into a heavier 35oo series wrecker form 1960 or so . The crane wil be scratch built and I'll be posting pictures as I go along so ya'all can follow and mabye build yer own "Towmater " . Alan , first thank you for allowing me to do a story on ya ! Uh , keep yer cell phone charged too ! Ed Shaver
