  1. I think I have a plan, but am wondering if there is a better way. What do you guys do for window trim if you are modifying a windshield or rear window and need to remove the trim and replace what is already there? This will be on a 60`s muscle car, so the trim will look similar to this:
  2. Looks great Andre! I know you were worried about the tail lights, but I think they look very convincing! Did you have fun building it? 3rd gen f-bodies are what kept me in the hobby throughout the 80`s.
  3. I`ve had 6 3rd gens so far, and all of them had semi-gloss black locks. You mean the door locks on the outside of the door right? Looking forward to seeing it finished! I always liked these in forrest green.
  4. Looking great Andre!! Nice detail on that dash! Here is my version. As you can see, I had some trouble fitting the front nose on it. Just a heads up for you. I`ll also include a pic of the tailights you were asking about, but it looks like you have that pretty much under control.
  5. Lots of interesting stuff here. Disclaimer: I have no idea what I am doing. I always try to take pictures outdoors on sunny days. Cloudy or indoor pics always seem to make the color seem "off." Whatever the highest resolution is available on the camera is what I set it to. When I copy the files to the computer, i resize them down to about 30-50%. My camera is a really cheap Sony Cybershot, which I think was the cheapest that Best Buy had at the time. I may have paid $89 for it. I have always used really cheap cameras. In fact, and I`m not sure if Harry wants me to tell you this, but the Big Scale Beauty cover car in my sig was shot with a cheapo Kodak camera that I am pretty sure was under $100 as well. Anyway, here is the result:
  6. Here are some engine pics with the decals. I forgot to put them on in the first set of pics.
  7. Thanks guys! No decals were used on this one, except the air cleaner and the valve cover decals. Everything else is painted.
  8. Yep, got the wheels safely. Thanks Tonio!
  9. Thanks again everyone! Some of your comments made me laugh this time around. Thanks! The chrome trim on the seats and door panels are both BMF. The console is silver chrome paint. The window trim is all BMF.
  10. Thanks everyone! At some points, because of the similarities, I thought I was building the L-88 one again. Besides the obvious black stripe, there are subtle differences:
  11. An interior pic: And chassis:
  12. This one went smoothly at first, and then fought me in the end. But overall, not too many complications. I think this one is my favorite color scheme. There is just something about all the red and white. I used the wheels that I designed and cast from the L88 model. I added a period correct Pennsylvania license plate and inspection sticker on the windshield. A correct dealer window sticker was applied to the driver side window. All these were printed from actual items from the time period. This is my first white interior, and I must have put on at least 4 coats of white to cover the black and red. I just realized I forgot the air lid cover decal and the decal on the passenger side valve cover, so I owe you guys a couple pics yet. Let me know what you think!
  13. Thanks Bill. You have me sold! I am going to have to run out and get some of this stuff.
  14. Is that the hardener hiding behind the tube of putty? Or do you have to buy the hardener separately? I have been looking into two part putties. I am assuming this doesn`t have the shrinking issues of the one part putties? It is frustrating to get something "perfect" only to come back a couple days later and see a divot where there was once a smooth surface.
  15. Very nice work! As everyone said, very smooth black finish. What paint did you use? I am loving all these 2nd gen Camaros lately!
  16. Super clean build! Nice work! I had one very similar that I just sold a few years back. I never got around to putting the Z/28 decals and trim on it. It was a gas hog!!
  17. Plastruct`s diamond plate is way over-sized if you go by the scale numbers they claim. I used the 1/48 scale plate for my truck below, which was part number 91684. I tried the 1/32 scale stuff, and that just looked way to big. Hope this helps!
  18. I have used Duplicolor clear over Duplicolor, Tamiya, and Testors Custom Lacquer series. In fact, the Big Scale Beauty car in my sig was Duplicolor Black with Tamiya French Blue topped with Duplicolor clear, if memory serves me. The only issues I have had was in some instances, if I would use Duplicolor colors for stripes over Testors lacquer lacquer, sometimes the Duplicolor color would "pull away" from the masked line, and it wouldn`t be straight after applying the Duplicolor clear.
  19. Thanks again guys! Hey Kenny, Good eye on those details. Yep, I have left the wipers and the grills that way on every one of m builds so far. I am such a slacker. Maybe on one of these I will start doing that. So, will we see a big scale Corvette from you hopefully?
  20. Thanks Rob! Yep, they were painted Chevy Orange along with the rest of the block! In fact, the exhaust manifolds were also originally orange! You can see pictures of the engine here: http://blog.hemmings.com/index.php/2014/01/19/award-winning-1967-corvette-l88-sells-for-record-3-85-million/comment-page-1/ I actually had input from some 1:1 Corvette fanatics on this one to help make sure I got all the details correct.
  21. Tonioseven is a great trader! Thanks Antonio!
  22. I`m starting to understand how these model things work. I am definitely looking forward to the magazine feature. It is an honor. Now I just need to get time and motivation to put it all together. November will be here no time.
  23. Thanks Snake! Yeah, I used the kit tires. Though, I had to go searching through all of my kits (have about 10 "parts" kits of this kit) to find a complete set that wasn`t warped and was perfectly round. I am with you. I`m not to crazy about the kit tires. The look way to narrow, especially when on the Camaro kit!
  24. Thanks everyone! I really appreciate the comments. Very nice! That red looks fantastic! I will be watching for a completed thread for that one!
