Photoshopped models
Hawk312 replied to Ace-Garageguy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I usually just resize and crop mine, as I know virtually nothing about photoshop. Sometimes in the past I would go into Paint Shop to adjust the brightness and/or contrast in "washed out" pictures, but I can remember the last time I did that. Even with the magazine cover car, I am pretty sure I gave Harry the pictures straight from the camera untouched, if memory serves me. But who knows what he did with them! (just kidding Harry) I don`t think anyone can be faulted for removing dust specs (can`t remember if I have ever done this). I don`t think the absence or presence of dust in a picture at all reflects the abilities of the model builder. -

Tedious, but it looks like you did an excellent job! -
Admittedly, I`m not that familiar with the entire process of bringing a new subject to the market. But I am wondering if there is some way that we can get involved to help bring these ideas to reality. I mean, I would gladly give some of my time if I knew it was working toward getting some new kits on the shelves. I have access to some of the cars on my list in my previous post. I will gladly take as many pictures and make as many measurements as needed if a manufacturer was going to bring the subject to market. Also, from my understanding, all subjects start off as 1/12 kits anyway, to make sure proportions are correct and convincing. Am I correct in this? If so, does that mean a 1/12 kit of every subject already exists?

1969 RS SS 1/12 grille. any out there?
Hawk312 replied to kagnew's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Bringing this back up. I would love to see one of these made available. -
Nice work! I thought that color looked familiar. Here is my wife`s very rare Trans Am in the same color: I`m assuming you had it mixed by your local jobber?
-
Nice paint! What color is that?

1/12 scale `70 -`72 Chevelle, Olds 442, Buick GSX, or Super Duty Trans Am (lots of options if combined with the Corvette and Camaro kits) 1/12 Hemi or AAR Cuda, `70 Challenger T/A 1/12 69 Mustang, or maybe a `67 with optional "Elaenor" parts? 1/12 `63 corvette, maybe converted from the `67 kit with small block parts from the Camaro kit? 1/8 Trans Am re-release! Above converted into a `77-`78 Trans Am, or a `77-`81 Z28 It would be cool if Revell would modify their 1/16 Firebird GTA into a third gen Firehawk, and the 1/16 IROC-Z into a `91-`92 Z28 Would also be cool if they would convert the 1/8 IROC kit into a GTA or Firehawk, or maybe even a formula? Any 4th gen f-body, especially a Camaro SS, Trans Am WS-6 or firehawk, in say 1/12? Large scale 2014 Corvette! 1/12 Revell `57 Chevy kit converted to a `56 or `55 ACCURATE large scale Ferrari 288 GTO

Build another one?
-
Not a surprise to anyone who knows me: 1/12 Corvette: dozen+ 1/12 Camaro: close to a dozen 3rd gen Trans am (Monogram): Can`t remember all that I built from the 80`s, but it is probably in the dozens `70 Challenger T/A (Monogram) - dozen+ But I the most difficult to acquire was probably about 6 or 7 Linberg Firehawk kits. They are somewhat rare.

I`ll third that. I have tires from these kits that I painted almost 10 years ago, and I swear they are still tacky. -

Looks great! I can`t wait to see the finished product. -
Thanks everyone! I decided I was going to give casting `67 wheels a shot. Here will be the master. What do you think?
-
Thanks guys! I am hoping to have a couple surprises with this one....a couple small changes that I have never tried with my previous builds. I am also hoping to get pictures of the real car from a source close to the buyer that will hopefully allow me to get the details perfect. Now if I just had more time......
-
Thanks again everyone! I got the interior finished up last night. I overlooked the fact that the real car doesn`t have power windows, so I had to raid the 1/12 Camaro kit for an extra set of roll-up window handles for the door panels. I also had to carve off the power window switches from the console, after it was already painted and detailed mind you. I also used a completely new method of doing wood grain on the steering wheel. I think it came out better then my previous method, which was a little to streaky. The appropriate label and tag were added, both printed from the 1:1 items.
-
Thanks guys! You are too kind...maybe much too kind. Still have to finish the polishing on the body. In the meantime, I am getting the chassis finished up. As I watched the real 1:1 car roll over the chassis cam, I noticed there were a few small differences from my previous builds, and I tried to reflect it on this one. I think I captured most of the details accurately. I am also getting close to wrapping up the interior. Hopefully I will have those pics for you soon,

Starting to polish out the body:
-
Thanks Danno. I`m making some progress on the chassis, I am just mocking up the engine to the chassis, so it isn`t glued down yet. For some reason, with this build, I am constantly going back to reference pictures of the real car to get all the painting right. I still have to add some of the chalk/paint markings on chassis components and the front suspension. I`m also making progress on the red interior. Hopefully I will be wrapping up this build soon.

Just a quick update:

Sorry Tom...it`s my classic dilemma...should I build, or should I take pictures and post. I am making progress though. Hopefully I will have some pics for you soon.

I am stuck with the blue 3M tape, which works ok for me, but you really need to make sure it is burnished down good. I agree Tamiya is much better, but it is a little hard to come by in my area and with my schedule. -

Not sure if it is too late, or if you can get your hands on another set of decals, but if you place the decal on the hood, before it sets you can try taking a very hot wet towel and use pressure on the decal for a few minutes. It should stretch and conform to the hood. -
Not that I know of. There was a Revell 1/8 scale kit. There was also a Revell 1/16 scale 34 Ford kit released back in the 80`s. I have that one and it is pretty nice.
