  1. Thanks again everyone! I`m not sure of the color...I just know it was some type of Duplicolor dark metallic silver, I believe a Ford color. It was a couple years ago that I painted it. For the K&N, I used Tamiya flat red with some black mixed in. I would have to guess about 5 parts red to 1 part black. Thanks.
  2. Wow! That looks great! Those T-tops really look convincing. How did you do that? In real life, that thing would be a beast. I had an LT-1 Firehawk with a supercharger, and it was crazy.
  3. Thanks again everyone! It is Duplicolor, but I`m not sure of the color code. I actually bought it a couple years ago. I think it is the only brown they make though. I remember it being difficult to find.
  4. Thanks again everyone! He took it off for racing.
  5. Thanks guys!
  6. Pretty much a straight OOB build, except for the flocking, dry transfer letters, fuel lines and park plug wires. This was a relatively quick build (for me anyway) inspired by a real one I saw at Ocean City cruise nights this past fall. I like the brown with the white. Let me know what you think!
  7. I would be interested in these in 1/12 scale as well, but for the `67 Corvette, `69 Camaro, and the `57 Chevy kits. I think they would look great on all of them. And I am sure others would be interested, given the 1/12 Camaro is being re-released this November!
  8. Thanks Harry! Here is the color I was going for. Now that I look at it again, I guess it isn`t that far off. But I do wish it was a little lighter, especially the wheels:
  9. I know, I know, there have been probably dozens of great builds already posted of this kit, so I`ll keep it short. As many of you have probably read before, there are two ways to build this kit: assemble according to instructions, or shake the box a few minutes and let all the pieces fall together. I had absolutely no issues. The engineering is amazing, head and shoulders above some of the older big scale kits. Duplicolor used on the body, and I got the color waaayy to dark as you can see...am a little disappointed. Some minor detail added to the engine bay. I have to apologize, I thought for sure I had pics of the interior before it went in, but now I cant find them. I`ll keep looking for them and post them if I find them. Let me know what you think.
  10. That`s right...I forgot that they were *very* limited production in `96 and `97. Did it come with the Trans Am spoiler? Sorry I derailed your thread a little bit. How is the model coming along?
  11. Oh, man! That is nice Jason!! What number car is yours? Love the video. I hope, you don`t mind, but I just gotta share a few of mine. Here is my `94 that I had about 15 years ago. Yours reminded me of it. It was number 312. It had an all forged bottom end, full exhaust, and an ATI with 9psi and twin intercoolers. In a couple impromptu run-ins, it embarrassed a couple sport bikes. And here is the `95 I had that also had a 383 stroker, again all forged bottom end. It also had the LT4 intake, heads and cam kit. It was a low number car, only number 31! And here is my current Firehawk. It is number 350. It has an LS6 cam, full exhaust with long tubes, ported and shaved heads (11.5:1 compression or so). If I were a better driver, it would run quarter miles well into the 11`s. AND still gets 28mpg average on long trips.
  12. Spray cans here. I used an airbrush maybe a total of 3 times back in the early 90`s, if I remember correctly. Haven`t used one since. Although, I am intrigued by Donn Yost`s method and would like to give it a try.
  13. Looks like this will be an interesting build. I`ll be watching. When I had the engine out of my 1:1 Firehawk, I debated going with Pontiac engine blue as well. Thought it would be something unique. What year Firehawk do you have? Can you post pictures of it?
  14. Not to mention that it is what appears to be a L69 carbureted 305. Even if running well, they need alot of replacement parts.
  15. Uuuuggh!! I should *not* have watched that!!! Thanks Slusher....my mind is occupied for the night!!
  16. Lots of sanding and lots of rubbing. Seriously though, my procedure is still the same as it was when I wrote about it in issue #150. If I remember correctly, I started with 2000 grit, followed by 3000 grit, and then rubbed it out with 3 grades of compounds.
  17. Great news! Black stripes and an RS grille, pleeeeeaaassee!!
  18. Thanks Brian! You had an `85 Firebird? What colors/options? I am actually restoring an `85 Trans Am that I am trying to get to look like the `86 I had just out of high school. This model was actually really close to an Iroc I almost bought back in the day. Back then, we all thought they were so fast, even at 205hp. How I miss the `80`s!
  19. Thanks again guys. Diamond plate is plastruct 1/100 scale diamond plate sheet sprayed with Krylon chrome. I was pleased with the results.
  20. Thanks everyone! I would, but unfortunately it is way to fragile to flip over. I was nervous just taking it off the display base to get pictures. I wish I would`ve got pictures of the underside before I put the body on.
  21. Started with the Revell kit with the Yellow and Blue trucks on the front, and everything just sort of snowballed into this crazy thing. There have been alot of changes, but it is still the stock body, engine block, interior (except the door panels), and the frame from the cab forward. Almost every kit part was modified in some way. Wheels are from an old funny car kit, and the kit moon caps were used.Tires from the Chevelle kit. Believe it or not, that is the stock bench seat in there, modified of course. I forget where I got the super charger and electric fan setup. The carbs are from another Revell street rod kit. The diamond plate is supposedly 1/100th scale!! So many other things I am sure I am forgetting, Its been a long 4 months or so. Ask away.
