  1. Looks like this is going to be a killer build. That engine looks great Anthony! I usually try to paint the lighter color first, mask, and then paint the darker color. I did this with the "Big Scale Beauty" in my sig, and the Mustang I am working on now. For me, it did pretty much level out after sanding, but I do use alot of clear coat, to the tune of 5-7 coats. I also find it is easier to mask where the stripes will be, instead trying to mask around where the stripes should be. Hope this helps! I masked the black stripes on the Silver one I built a few years ago. It was more difficult than I expected.
  2. This is looking great! Are you using the "bigs and littles" from the new AMT polyglas GT parts pack?
  3. Like I said in your WIP, that thing looks fantastic! Makes me wish I would have done mine in blue. What color did you use for that?
  4. That looks fantastic! Love that blue!
  5. When I hear about model companies using a 1:1 car for measurements, I am always curious about why they are not doing this as well. I would imagine this would make kit bodies nearly 100% accurate. Has anyone seen this at Hobby Lobby yet? They still don`t have this kit in my local one.
  6. I am pretty sure I have a rough, broken body lying around somewhere that I no longer need. I can ship it to anyone who is seriously going to take on this task.
  7. I would love to see this, and would buy multiples if it was accurate!
  8. That finish looks terrific! Especially for straight from the can. Love the R/C stuff too. You running anything brushless/lipo combo?
  9. For the truck, the Mustang, and the Cobra, I used both Duplicolor color and clear coats. For the Firebird, I used Testors One Coat clear. I think I only used 3 coats, which is unusual for me, as it goes on really thick. I am pretty sure for the Chevy, it is Testor`s Custom Lacquer series clear. Hope this helps.
  10. Oh wow, we finally have black stripes!!!!!!! I will definitely pick one of these up. I noticed though, the Goodyear Eagles that were in previous versions aren`t in the pictures? If not, what do they suggest you mount the "Pro Star" wheels into?
  11. Thanks! Yeah, not sure what was up with the contest. Not sure if I will enter it this year if they have one. Thanks! For the truck, the Mustang, and the Cobra, I used all dupli-color paints from the spray can. For the Firebird and the Chevy, I used Testors Custom Lacquer system. Thanks everyone!
  12. Thanks everyone! Hopefully I will get more done this year. The Mustang is 1/12 scale.
  13. Has anyone seen this kit at their local Hobby Lobby yet?
  14. A little late, but here is all mine from this year. Actually surprised I finished this many with my schedule:
  15. Has anyone seen this kit at Hobby Lobby yet? I was at mine tonight, and am still not seeing this or the new Camaro kit yet.
  16. Has anyone seen this at Hobby Lobby yet?
  17. Nice! The Jada Cobra, was it 1/24 scale? Thanks
  18. Like slusher said, the `69 Camaro should be available soon. My 2010 Shelby Mustang went together *very* easy, but Im not sure if the subject is ready for rusty beater treatment yet. Im also a "rattle canner", for life at this point. Only used an airbrush a couple time in the early 90`s.
  19. Very nice! I thought I recognized those tires, Looking forward to seeing what you can do with this kit Marcos!
  20. Oohhhhh nice! Where did you get those tires? They look like the chief`s.
  21. Here is the in the in progress thread: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=46650&hl=mustang and here is the completed thread: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=52347&hl=mustang
  22. I`m not sure what level you are planning to build this kit to, but I built the Shelby version of this kit for a customer, and the body gave me fits. From memory, I had to glue the doors in place and use alot of putty and sanding to get the body lines straight. I also had to do a lot of cutting and sanding to get the bottom of the rear fenders to a convincing shape...they have a very slab-sided look to them built up out of the box. The front A pillars are also very fragile, so it might not be a bad idea to strengthen that area with some strip styrene or something. I think I have an in progress thread here somewhere.....
  23. I think that looks great! Do you happen to know if the candy overcoat you used was lacquer or enamel? Thanks!
  24. Both of these look great! Where did you get those wheels?
  25. And here is the base model. Sorry, couldn`t resist.
