  1. Great work. Your drag builds are crazy!
  2. They all look fantastic. Again, I really like that black `cuda with the Keystones.
  3. They all look so real! Very nice! I really like this one. Is that the AMT kit?
  4. Not nearly as many as I would have like to have finished mostly because life got in the way, but also because of the L88 build which has taken nearly all year so far. Here is what I have so far. Only three total completions this year... And here is what I have so far on the 1/12 L88. I hope to have it finished next week assuming parts make it here from the platers:
  5. These still look incredible Kenny! Glad to see this post back up at the top again. It looks like you are distracted with the Peterbuilt. Once you are done with that, you should give another one of these a try. I would love to see what you do with it.
  6. Not a surprise to those of you who know me, or who have "Styrene Stars", but mine of course is : I really wish they would re-release this kit. The big Camaro is about a tie on my list. And these two are close seconds:
  7. Does seem quite high. However..... As someone else mentioned, for a commissioned build, that is not unreasonable. I was just browsing through an old issue of "the other magazine" from about 10 years ago. In it, a "professional builder" said his builds can cost up to $1500, and that was 10 years ago. Also, if you don`t like the price, pick up another one somewhere else. I`m sure Walmart has them, right? Oh wait, this one is one of a kind?
  8. Nice work so far! Those colors, both the interior and exterior, look like they are spot on! Did you clear over the decal? If so, how long did you allow the decal to cure?
  9. After doing your search in Google, the top line for each result should be in blue, and right below that should be the actual URL (http://www.modelcarsmagforum.com/....). I just searched for my Elaenor Mustang, and the line ended with "Under Glass." Right beside the "Under Glass" is a small arrow that, if clicked, should display "Cached." Are you not seeing that? If you are not seeing this option, does anything pop up when you mouse-over either the link or the URL in the results? Sorry if this seems elementary, but I have a feeling many others at varying levels of internet savvy will be reading this in the future.
  10. Thanks Gregg. As I said in my other post, this is my favorite modeling forum on the net.
  11. I can personally attest to this. Never, ever, does everything go as planned with a server migration!! Thanks for your hard work Gregg and the admins, keeping the best modeling forum on the net IMO running.
  12. Thanks guys for all the advice! I took a good bit of time sanding my master and then actually buffing it out a little last night. I then created a new mold with no release agent whatsoever. I cast my parts this morning and I no longer have the issue with pinholes!! I can`t thank you guys enough. Now hopefully I can get these wheels off to chrome, get them installed, and have a unique build for you guys to see. Oh, and sorry for any contention...definitely wasn`t my intention...
  13. Thanks wisdonm. So basically you are saying to just pour the Silicon directly onto the bare part, no release? That would certainly simplify things for me, as you might guess if you are familiar with my previous thread regarding the chrome issues. Thanks!
  14. Ok, I think I finally have my resin issue solved! I have a resin master that looks acceptable, but it is in primer. I am considering using baby/talcum powder this time as a mold release on my master. Will this work? I know a lot of you guys use this for the resin copies you are making, but what about the master when making the mold? Thanks!
  15. That Alice Cooper one was unpredictable.....didn`t see him doing that one. Here is an obscure one. Sort of a cover, but sort of not since Jonny Cash sings in it as well. I like the duet at the end. Also, these guys do "Meet Me Halfway" way better than The Black Eyed Peas ever could. Check out all the "Whazup"s:
  16. Congrats. Smoke the Itsagirls outside. Looks like a break from the models for a while?
  17. Thanks again everyone! The color is Duplicolor BHA0980 Electron Blue Pearl. From the reference pictures I had, this was the closest color i could find,
  18. Where are you guys getting Pasti-kote? Its been forever since I`ve seen any around here.
  19. I`ll third that idea!
  20. Thanks everyone! Almost forgot to mention, the tire decals were from the slixx sheet, and the wheels were chromed by LittleMotorCarCompany. Their chrome is much brighter and better IMO than the kit chrome.
  21. Thanks again everyone! One hundred million billion. Actually, when I started this I was actually considering selling this eventually believe it or not. There is no way I could now though with all of it`s issues.
  22. Thanks everyone! The parachute cord is masking tape cut into 1/16" strips wrapped around wire and painted chrome silver.
  23. I built this one along side the Gene Snow Vega. Again, this is a quick build, since I have been really pressed for time lately. The most notable thing about this kit was the awful, and I mean awful decals. They were yellowish brown where they should be clear. I had to trim as closely as possible to the "ARMY" letters on the passenger side to make it look decent. I wish I would have known before I put the drivers side on, which went on just like they came. The star decal strip dried gray where they were supposed to be clear. I had to fix this buy using future both under and over the decals. They actually look pretty decent now. And finally, and worst of all, they day after I applied the decals, I found that all of them were peeling away, some could even be easily blown off. Any, I`ll stop complaining...for now. I substituted the newer Mongoose kit frame and front tires for this one as well. Again, the kit wheels were replaced. Wayne`s tutorial was used for this build as well. The red area/stripes of the decals would not do, as they wanted you to apply the red stripe decals, and then try to match the rear bumper. I ended up masking and painting the red stripes. Basic details were added to the engine. Some of you heard my bellyaching about the rear tires not being large enough in my progress thread, but after looking at the pics, I think the newer Revell funny car kits have the perfect size rear slicks for these kits. All said, I really like this as a shelf model, and it really reminds me of the cars I used to see on the track as a kid. Almost forgot, LittleMotorKarCompany did the chrome on the wheels. They came out very bright, much more so than kit chrome. More pics
  24. I decided to whip this one together as it was sitting in my parents basement partially assembled for what seems like almost 2 decades, but it is actually closer to 15 years or so. My goal wasn't for complete accuracy. I wanted to replicate how I remembered funny cars when I was a kid and went to the local track with my dad, though this one is slightly before my time. Lots of modifications to this one. The kit wheels had to go, as they are awful. I used the front tires from the newer Mongoose kit as well as the frame. The rear tires are from a recent Revell funny car kit. I used Wayne`s guide for modifying these cars, which is an absolute must IMO. I also had to modify the drive shaft as it hits the bottom of the seat after the mods. As you can see, I terribly miscalculated the clearance needed for the windshield, and had to improvise. I could kick myself for cutting that thing up. Just basic detail was added to the engine, as my schedule is very tight right now and I wanted to get this and the Army car done quickly. I did the best I could trying to blend the red and the blue on the body using paint cans. The decals actually covered pretty well and are mostly opaque, though I had a hard time getting the large side decals to conform. I added a rear spoiler, as most of my reference pictures had something similar. I had to modify the opening for the blower, and improvised there with a pseudo flexible trim pad that I saw in alot of the reference pics I had. If I had it to do over again, I would have cut the buldge out completely, but I was in a hurry. Oh well. Here ya go. A few more pics:
  25. Thanks tbill. Every now and then someone posts something that you don`t know exactly how to respond to. Thanks so much for the complement. It`s hard to believe that anything I can do can inspire people. I hope my advice serves you well. The blue looks brilliant! I am looking forward to seeing a couple of them finished.
