  1. Inspired by Clay Kemp's awesome Verlin Eaker builds, here's mine! Man I haven't built this many Mopars, ever! From the Lindberg kit, Performance Plastic wheels and tires, some resin parts from Fred's Resin Workshop, has my decals and is more finished then these pictures show! Already lettered, will be done, soon! Enjoy!
  2. Chassis Shots
  3. Holy cow, here it is Ed, must be gettin' old! Just back in from it's first night out and hot laps, too! Body from the Modified Stocker series, chassis from the MK 72 Torino(Southern Stockers by MPC) kit motor, modified some, rear suspension from the parts box!
  4. I bought six of these pre-painted well detailed, but a little chubby, snap kits at Hobby Lobby when they were out for a minute a few years ago, and I was thinking of what I could do with them. Always liked those sixties Ray Nichels Dodges and Plys and can't afford the price of those scarce JoHann 64 kits! This one, I used the factory body paint, scraped off the windshield wipers, painted the chassis and interior, removed the back seat, fabbed a racing seat and roll cage, and apllied my own decals! Racing wheels and tires from Norm, have another one started that I stripped the paint, removed the chrome trim, and proceeded in this fashion, I will give you the link, for! Been awhile since I bothered ya'll with more racecar, ######, hope you enjoy! links: http://public.fotki.com/slimlouis/polar-li...eonard-phantom/ http://public.fotki.com/slimlouis/polar-li...65-dodge-no-28/
  5. That turned out really well! Very old school period-correct!
  6. Nice looking battery, where did you get the cable connectors?
  7. I'm trying to replicate the late sixties, early seventies with this build as a dirt car, since they weren't that track specific back then, probably would have run it's fair share of asphalt laps, too. I fabbed some interior "tin" started a wind screen, got kind of a "dirt" utilitarian front bumper, yadda, yadda. This was originally for a OOB CBP on another forum, but I'm not talented enough to make some of the "Modified Stockers" look good enough, oob! So I utilized a MK/MPC chassis from there new re-issues, since it was a leaf spring car, anyway. Just having fun, hope you like it, should be finished tomorrow.
  8. Yws, Ed, I do have a few that don't turn out right, this one is a good example, thats why it was started and sat on the shelf for five years! I hvave several more like that that I'm finding inspiration for, one's a 64 Fairlane "Thunderbolt" kit I'm building as a short tracker. Sometimes you just need five years to "see the light! lol
  9. Since this was started five years ago, I didn't keep WIP pictures, (no camera or computer) and I didn't wire engines yet, back then. When I glued the front bumper back on yesterday, I realized," this is it, this sucker ain't comin' off no more" So this picture of the motor is the best I have for now. If the bumper ever falls off I'll post naked frame pictures, but until then, don't hold your breath! It's a 427, either from the Polar Lights kit or an AMT 66 Fairlane, don't quite remember.
  10. Finished yesterday, started five years ago. AMT body on a Polar Lights Talladega Ford half-chassis.
  11. Very nice mix of old and new! I like it!
  12. Nice looking build!
  13. Very nice build! So did you alter the wheelbase yourself?
  14. Your time away from the bench sure looks like it paid off with the completion of this build! Very good job! If I had a buck for everytime I lost a race to a car like this, I could go get me a six-pack!(pun intended!) Great build!
  15. Thats really good building! I like it!
  16. Excellent!
  17. Added some paint, Tamiya Mica Red over the red-oxide primer. Thought about extending the black up over the roof and down the trunk, but I kind of like it simple, too! I dunno, what do you think? Can't believe, as big as those wheel wells were, and I'm using much smaller tires, and I still had to open the wheel wells a little more! The body fits lower over this chassis is why! Thanks for looking, appreciate the feedback!
  18. The chassis are ######, the tires need to go immediately into the garbage, the motors are so-so depending on which kit,the roll cages are lousy, decals are mediocre, at best, the bodies are the best part, but they hog the wheel wells out too much! Otherwise there all right.
  19. Body from the Modified Stocker series, chassis from the MK 72 Torino(Southern Stockers by MPC) kit motor, modified some, rear suspension from the parts box! We'll see how this goes!
  20. The speedway cars tried to protect there gas tanks(cells) and radiators with some more or less aero dynamic protection. The short track guys used round, or square tubing, truck or Edsel bumpers, you name it. Take a look at my reference section in my Fotki, and you can see the examples. The wonderful thing of modeling vintage race cars, is that you will find a prototype for darn near everything! Check it out! http://public.fotki.com/slimlouis/reference-pictures/
  21. Beautiful build, this is just my style, my brother used to have a 390 63 Squareback this color! Great job! Nice detail painting on the chassis, too!
  22. Pretty cool Ron, great imagination. You always were good at that battering weathering scene! Nice work.
  23. Pretty cool, always nice to see new enthusiasm in the hobby!
  24. Yeah, I sure agree, great looking build!
