  1. Holy cow, that looks like my backyard! Great looking 55!
  2. Nice builds, you did 'em great justice!
  3. Yes, he needed to borrow about $800.000 to finish building Charlotte so he approached Jimmy Hoffa and the Teamsters for a loan. The condition was to unionize the drivers. Him and Tim Flock took the fall and were banned for life! That lasted untill 1965 or so. He came up to Milwaukee in 62,63, and 64 and raced with the USAC guys. I was there, what a thrill!
  4. They're both nice!
  5. Cool idea/theme, love the car , very authentic and fast looking! Who made the carbs? Kit? Resin? Thanks Slim
  6. AMT 49 kit built to resemble a modern day vintage racer. Sits over a 57 Chevy chassis cage and all the bars scratch built, big block Ford 427 set back some with the exhaust coming through the fender!
  7. Cool!
  8. Very nice, clean build. Great job on the conversion!
  9. Nice vintage builds, love those moon discs. Very period correct looking!
  10. Wow! Another race car! Great looking build, one of my favorites!
  11. The Chicago Area liked to race those big full size cars on the small bull rings, so they didn't stay clean real long, they kept them up a little for the USAC races in Milwaukee on the "big" track, though! Here's the same car two years later: check this link out: http://public.fotki.com/slimlouis/chicagoland-auto-racing/
  12. This was a lot of fun to build, I've wanted to build and letter this car since the first time I saw it race in 62, took me a long time playing with my Print Shop to get these decals to turn out close to the real thing, but I'm pleased with the results. From the AMT Don Nicholson kit. She's real fine, my 409! Link to the build: http://public.fotki.com/slimlouis/dark-sid...y-gerkens-62-b/
  13. Thanks y'all. Both the Forty Fords are the old reliable been around since I was a kid AMT kits!
  14. You could still foil it if you wanted, or leave it alone to a tribute to your youth! Is that a new picture, or was the budding photographer in you back then?
  15. I like how this one is going! I used those tubes you have for an HO scale grain elevator for my old model railroad, once! I'm watching this rivet thing closely! How big, exactly are the strips for the bands? Here's an idea for an old race track water truck with an eliptical tank, I got on the back burner: http://s43.photobucket.com/albums/e386/sli...0Water%20Truck/
  16. Welcome to the forum RV, nice to have another circle track guy, here! Great looking Saturday night goat! Love the slight dirt and details, very well done!
  17. Turned out real nice, I like it it!
  18. Cool, I like 'em!
  19. Despite the fact that I had company, fired up "Slim's BBQ", smoked a shoulder and turned my workbench BACK into a dining room table, this weekend, I still managed to finish this one. Hope you like it! The decals gave me some fits!
  20. Pretty cool, pretty cool!

    NICE!
  22. Looks good so far, I'm likin' it!
  23. Thanks Will, keep in mind all I used from the kit was the body and the wheels! Ask me specifics if you have any questions and want to do this build! Here's a link to Red Farmer decals! http://www.bsrrep.com/index.asp?PageAction...&ProdID=428
