  1. I will probably get yelled at from someone for saying this, but I see some real short track potential in this one! (Of course I say that about most all kits! ) That seperate platform and interior floor has a Hamilton Chassis all over it. Not sure which version to buy, though!
  2. Thanks Tuff! Did a little tire and wheel detail painting, and I think those skinny tires,(reatively speaking) will work out OK. What do ya'll think?
  3. I believe the stress factor was the reasoning NASCAR used in banning them on the HM Fords and Stroppe Mercuries in '64!
  4. Pretty cool kit, real similar to the 56 Del Ray, in fact shares a couple of parts trees, but includes some, but not all, BW racing parts. I'm going to build a two car team, numbers/drivers to be determined. ATTENTION DECAL MAKERS< I'M READY TO ORDER! Mostly OOB except for the 20 gal. fuel tank, I used one that looked similar from the 57 AMT new tool kit, and centered it, removal of spare tire well, four rear shocks, ( they should have included the extra shocks and mounting brackets!) In 57 chevy attached the rear shocks to the floor which didn't work well on the street, much less a race track!, rear end stiffener, and exhaust sleeves through the frame rails. I guess I'll use the kit tires, I'm just not used to such a spindly tire, but it scales out, right enough. Chassis is coming nicely, body is ready for paint, here's where I'm at.
  5. Very nice, looks beautiful! How about some more pictures?!
  6. Excellent looking build!
  7. Awesome build and one of the best WIP threads I have ever seen! I will bookmark this and be using it for reference as I build mine! Thanks for sharing!
  8. It's over in the NASCAR section, I'm still not sure where to post my short track cars, here, where people will see them! Thanks for looking!
  9. I got my two last weekend, and they will work real well for me. I intend to build the first two OOB as two of the BW race team, numbers and drivers TBD. I never build anything OOB so this will be a bit of a treat. The "hardest part" will be to make the large fuel tank. Maybe take two from the '56 and splice them together. I can always replace the missing tanks with something else "race appropriate", a cell or something. The truck tires are underwhelming, but finding replacements shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for the under dash roll bar tip, whom ever said that! I didn't know about that! The bodies do look scaled out well, the MPC flipnose is too narrow and the "new tool" AMT 57 is to wide. I'm happy!
  10. I bought the two Pontiacs, 55 and 56, I forget which one is the 4-door and I felt they are both decent hard plastic bodies. Have tires, hub caps, plastic "platform" for a chassis chrome and glass. Passed on the interior, (you know I build race cars! lol). Thought it was kind of expensive at the time but I knew that going in. No complaints. The Olds body looks to be about the same quality! Slim
  11. The forty ford I posted recently with no replies is the same Lindberg body! Flash City!! Scared to build the truck! Built another one earlier, you know that pink one! At least they scale out OK and the proportions are decent.
  12. Keep up the good work, I'll be watching!

    Nice looking race car!
  14. Pretty cool looking build!
  15. Post 'em, Jerry! I thinks some of us will really enjoy them!
  16. Here's a couple of mine, the P3 Starliner is on a 57 Chevy chassis with a rat under the hood, and the A-1 Starlite coupe, is a NASCAR Permatex Sprtsman, also on a 57 Chevy chassis with a Boss 429 set Waaaay back! My homemade decals on both!
  17. I'm with you, Clay, I'd rather have root canal the BMF! just kidding, sort of! But your Stude looks really fine! You know I like these cars too! I think you were nice enough to comment on mine, a while back!
  18. Thought you might be interested in the Dart I built a while back. I tried to build a "period correct" short track car, based on the Chrysler kit car, but home made by using the kit chassis. These early chassis used the torsion bar front suspension and a leaf spring rear. I "welded 2x4 side rails to the uni-body chassis to give it a frame and strength, copied the "kit car " chassis, for reference, and used the the bubble fendered front clip from the kit car. Here's some pictures:
  19. Great idea! I like this one!
  20. Nice! I like this one!
  21. Really a good looking model! Nice story, too! I like nice stories!
  22. Thanks ya'll! Yeah an alps would be nice, if you can find ink for them, and service, and I could use a more sophisticated program, too. Any one have any suggestions?
  23. These is one of the most awsome builds I have ever seen! Dan you have outdonr yourself on this one! I am not ashamed to give my age away and say I actually saw this car race(perform?) in the early 60s at Union Grove Dragway in Wisconsin. Well it was one of the first six, anyway, can't remeber exactly! Is brother Walt Arfons raced these Allison cars and later Jets, too. What were they called, were they the Bo Weevils? I got that parts pack with the motor on it, but I'm afraid to try this!
  24. First time and ya done real good! Very convincing!
  25. Very nice looking build, love these ugly, un-loved Edsels!
