i would but...the rules clearly state no 4 bangers so installing an inline 6 would be a violation of my "wildcart" premise also, i am planning on making this a front engine rear wheel drive so it will be a flip nose (already cut the nose out but i cant make the frame till i find me an engine) i will probably just make a fixed bed for it, too much scratching on this puppy to begin with i wonder if i coul cut the corvair engine down to a 4 banger

it is all up to your own preference if you like builing imports i would say go with tamiya, fujimi or other companies that sound like they belong on the menu of a chinese restaurant if you are looking for domestic you have a much broader (and generally cheaper) playing field there is revell, AMT, model king and a few other each of these have certain kits that are head and shoulders above the rest and each of them have certain kits that are down right junk in my opinion none of them is clearly better then the other, it all jus depends on personal preference having said that, my personal preference goes first to revell, second to AMT if there is a specific kit you want to build and there are several companies who make that model just post a model specific question on here and im sure some of our members will be able to help you make a more informed choice

that looks really good but erm...i thought that decal with the two flags went on the rear windshield, not the trunklid ?

i used a excecto knife to cut the front end of the VW bug and it was a PITA however, i use the same fiber cut of discs as mentioned before but i have never had the testicular fortitude to actually use it on bodylines that need to be a perfect fit like dave said, they are great for hacking though (and the bug will see plenty of hacking)

i disagree . i have a plug in dremel advantage and it has 6 speeds, the lowest is fine for cutting plastic
-
im sure you could however it seems like when car manufactures want to go this route the apply the principle of "compound boost" usually a turbo blowing into a superchager but i digest yes, you could build a quad turbo V engine as long as you have a bi-turbo setup on both banks

why not cut it under water ? (keep in mind my dremel has a flex shaft)

yes she does http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1wtOz7OD24 4:50 its al right there

as promised, here are some pic of my entry thats right, my entry is a mid 50s VW bug it will (obviously) have a completely scratchbuild bed most likely a flip nose im still hoping to find a 1.8T engine but it looks like i might have to slap in a twin turbo straight six from a supra like i said before, the name of my street truck will be... wildcart (cart because it will look like like a go cart compared to the silverados and D100s and wildcard because it is pretty clearly a wildcard entry breaking 4 out of 5 rules) and to qoute one of our fellow members...

got word from the people at my shipping adress (long story, well not really i guess, my and my wife moved about a bit the first few years of our marriage and we kinda suspected we would so we kept her parents adress as our shipping, there, guess it realyl wasnt that long of a story) so the inlaws tell me the box containing my entry to this build (wildcart) has arrived expect pictures later on tonight

love the amp in there but you might want to put some speakers behind those grilles also, those gauges look great

what diameter solder do you use ? and how do you attach it, just drill a hole in the head and a drop of superglue ?

Okay! Us VW folks can't WAIT for this!!

i feel i've said too much part of the reason i want a 1.8T for it is because i was just yanking your chain and the 1.8T is a four banger if i cant find one i will most likely install a twin turbo'd supra V6 (smallest powerhouse i have in my partsbox) or maybe that ford engine you send me, that would be pretty fitting -
i actually found a hole today and worked on my exhaust for a moment it is my first home build exhaust system and its a pain (i know i should have used solder instead of styrene)

its even worse when it is a model you are building for someone else like the firebird i build for my father in law the other day it was the worst kit i have ever laid eyes on nothing fits it was not even worth of the partsbox but i made it through and it looks like ###### but the wife made me keep it and i guess it will make the next one look even better

that is a nice raceway you got there i used foamboard for my garage diorama because its a much larger diorama then the strip also i wanted to have a back fence and it needed a concrete (wood) wall to put the fence on and so i decided that wood would be the way to go on this one (heres a pic of the garage)

heres mine cant wait to see a model if this baby but since we are on the topic... none of you guys happen to have a 1/25 scale VW engine laying around do you ? me and my big mouth were picking on one of the forum members here trying to tell him i was going to enter a certain model into a build off that broke every rule except one long story short, he allowed the build in and now i need a VW engine cos i cant go back on my word -
good news guys i just bought the kit i will be entering into this buildoff on ebay i should have it in a week or so that should be no where near plenty of time to finish off every thing i have on the bench before this mine will be called.... wildcart dukefan, do you want me to open a seperate WIP thread once i get this going or do you want me to keep progress updates here ? (personally i always like keeping everything in one place but this is your baby, not mine)
-
well guys, the strip is close to being done all i have left is paint the fence posts , put up some sponsor banners , build the faucet and hose for the burnouts and paint the lines on the asphalt (i guess i should also install the tree) the asphalt is far from perfec but here are a few pics, i guess with the cars on it it is not that bad

why would you want to cut it up ? regardless, just do it
