  1. if im to mention one thing about this that i read in the news it would be that the pilot (who didnt survive the crash) was credited with avoiding greater disaster by pulling up the plane when he did and avoiding the grandstand area i know its little comfort to those who lost loved one but things could have been much worse
  2. seems to me there are two things i can do when im about burned out the first is to get a simple kit (as mentioned) and ad zero detail to it just slam something together so that after 48 hours you can put it on the self and say "there, i finished something" another aproach is like Rob said, build something out of nothing some of those type of projects i am working on are a deora converted into a hunting camper http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=38980&hl=larry&fromsearch=1 and a partsbox engine and wheels turned into a trike http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=46847&hl=dodge&fromsearch=1 if that doesnt help im with Jim, send us your models...you have my adress
  3. i use this site for plates http://www.licenseplates.tv/new-york-174.html?sort=20a&page=5 new york only goes up to 86 but they do have some info on the plate you want (qouted from the site) " In 2001, New York issued another license plate with artwork printed on reflective white, on which the slogan "THE EMPIRE STATE" was re-introduced. The most unpopular license plate from New York was issued in 2010 in deep reflective yellow and deep blue. Car collectors despise this design and question the issuing authority's choice of colors and graphic design. Custom plates are not embossed with the exception of the border. This is not an attractive license plate design and the state may want to listen to New Yorkers and change this “ghastly” deep reflective yellow and deep blue quickly."
  4. roscoe/s cruiser has some nice thundersticks and i also have something like this in my stash http://www.ebay.com/itm/AFV-Club-35S61-German-2cm-FlaK38-Anti-Aircraft-Gun-1-35-/160647429582?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2567553dce its a 1/35 german WW2 anti aircraft gun i was thinking it would make a decent 50cal in 1/25...great for hunting bigger game like T-rex's

  9. well, the way i go about it (in short) is to find a image online i like to print then i use photoshop to manipulate it and once im pleased with it i open it in a excel book i use the excel to take the guessing work out of sizing the decal then i have to decide on paper i get both my clear and white paper of ebay and both have thier up and down sides but once i decide on a paper i load a sheet in my printer and printt it the next day i shoot a few coats of clear over it and a few days after that the decal is ready to apply and that, in short, is how i make decals any more detailed questions will get more detailed awnser
  10. looking great John one question/comment though is the front end hinged allready ? because if it is not i would like to offer this piece of advice...make the hinge like i explained it in this tutorial http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=28665&hl=%2Bflip+%2Bflop&fromsearch=1 i think it will make the whole front end operate very smoothly (the reason i pointed it out is because in the pictures you posted it looks off..to hard to work under i guess) just a suggestion though, seeing how this build is coming along i need your advise more then you need mine
  11. Hey Ryan, welcome aboard if i may be the first to offer some constructive critisism, looking at the tail end of your exhaust there is a very distinct mold line this is easily removed with the side of an exacto knife or a little bit of sanding it will make the exhaust look a lot better because now it looks a bit "toyish" this line is created when the two parts of the die meet up and do not line up perfectly or "bleed" a bit of styrene during the process they show up on just about any part of the kit and are one of the best ways to improve the quality of your build
  12. welcome aboard Tonya cant wait to see some pictures just remember to take your time and dont be afraid to ask questions
  13. ever seen the youtube video where a guy brings home his new cobra mustang and his kid gets in it the kids pupming the gas and knocks it into gear, propelling the car in and through the garage. when he gets out he crying cos he ran over his own bicycle in the process and the dad is telling him he'll get a new one. the appropriate response would have been "woman, get my belt"
  14. i know this isnt what you prefer to build but what about the depth charger? i am working on one in secret myself and even though it has a very low parts count it is a very nice model it was re-issued a few years ago and all the parts are very crisp best part of it is, it is such an off the wall design you are bound to have a blast building it and coming up with a paint scheme i have seen several off them build on the forum and no two are remotely the same only one word of advice on this kit, when you put the cylinders together be carefull not to push them in too far or the fanshroud will not fit nicely between the intake stacks
  15. i didnt mean it as a ford, but rather as the proverbial slow animal
  16. looks like something that was Found On Road Dead....40 years ago but im very impressed the tires still hold air
  17. if expierience has taught me anything the proper thing to do would be flash your high beams while still 20 feet away and then proceed to gently bump the taurus out of your way untill he returns to his rightfull place in the slow lane
  18. man, thats flase advertisement...thats not a dodge at all
  19. you're right brody, he did say 440 i musta just thought hemi since thats my awnser for anything as for the exhaust...kinda reminds me of a 'cuda
  20. you know, when i first saw the rolling stock i didnt think id like it but now that its mocked up i likes it are you sure thats a hemi in there though?
  21. i wanna say i actually heard that before
  22. i never cared much for the probes but there is a white one around town that runs i dont know what type of engine but i do know it goes PSSSSH everytime he lets of the gas peppy little car but it was no match for my 1.8 turbo passat that ran 16 PSI all day long now, about the 3rd gen (or should i just call it a cougar?) i used to own a 99 model with the 2.5 V6 and 5 speed manual, fully loaded i got a great deal on it too, i looked at it the very day it came onto the lot and the salesperson gave me a price before he checked the car out well, about a week later, after he installed the new clutch i got to drive it home without having to pay for the clutch replacement that car was a blast to drive, it acted more like a RWD then the FWD it was it was real easy to aproach a turn, let of the gas and the car would oversteer the rear end like it broke loose as soon as you got on the gas again it would pull straight it turned out it was the lesser of the great 3 as it got crushed between a dodge and a chevy (who knew you cant go 3 wide down mainstreet?) over the years i have often had to fight the urge to sell my current car and get another cougar instead remember i said i got a good deal on it? when i totalled it the insurance company looked at the car, considered the cost and deducted the 1000 dollar deductable then they cut me a check for 2000 dollars more then i paid for it
  23. hey, thats not an alfa romeo nice looking model Luca, i dont think ive ever seen a superbee with a black hood but i like it so what are some of the the non US models you build?
  24. hey, cut him some slack...he could be building a ford for crying out loud...at least he got it halfway right (now lets just hope that rear end wont snap in half)
