diymirage replied to diymirage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
thanks for the info guys ill try to get a BM, i like that one better anyways -
lol, im lucky if i can get in 12-15 minutes of straight building (of course with a one year old and a wife who works anywhere from 50 to 80 hours a week time is limited) and i havent seen the entire top of my bench since i got it

hey guys, im looking to buy a 70-73 camaro kit but all im seeing locally is the round2 70.5 http://www.round2models.com/models/amt/705camaro-z28/amt635-01 i looked up the instructions online (great feature round2) from the looks of it its one of those "use all parts"kits with no options is this the case ? (if im building a chevy id rather get some nice partsbox fillers out of it) so, whats the lowdown ?
-
my last high was a few days ago i had a GTX that i was working on and i had a list of things to do but up untill recently i was stuck on the headers (didnt wanna scratch build them but didnt like the kit peices iether) well, over the weekend i found a set in the partsbox that i liked AND fit the car so i glued them to the 440 and painted them now that i had that figured out i had a list of things to do install engine glue body to chassis ad side view mirrow (always forget those buggers) install radiator hose fab some header back exhausts as i was pressing the modified challenger pipes to the chassis waiting for the glue to set i was going over the list in my head and then i realized...its done

ill stop by the local hobby shop after work today see what they gots im thinking of getting a baldwin motion kit and dumping the LS6 for a muscle car engine, maybe a hemi
-
you know, this might be a cool build (not a chevy guy here but why not) but i took a quick peak on ebay and there are only 2 kits you could choose from, kinda slim pickings ill see how moneys are and i just might be able to join in

nice i scored a few times this weekend but this is a family forum, so ill leave it at that

use real 1:1 limo tint thats what i did on this RC superbee
-
thanks guys funny thing about the decals, i spend a good while looking for a set of stock decals for this car all i kept getting was advise on aftermarket companies but i didnt want to spend that much on them so i decided to make something up myself the strobe stripe is from a 71 roadrunner and im not sure where the GTX call out was from but i thought it look like something plymouth would do back in the day

here she sits : very little custom work on this build, just a quick build (when did 2 months become quick ) it has the lambo rims, custom decals and a set of parts box headers running through some custom pro street style pipes (actually modified revell challenger units) comments are always welcome
-
thanks its no where near what i envisioned when i started but i dig the way it came out i even used the second pick and set it as my desktop background i just might boot the twin turbo camaro from the TV stand and put this baby on display in its place (with a one year old running around everything on display has to be at least 4 foot high)

i guess this is the first full model i finished this year when i first started it i was planning on building it as a junker/roadwarrior, you know, the kind of car a college kid who drive who spend every penny on power and not a cent on looks something with a 440 sixpack and deep dish steelies alas, the paint came out way too good so i decided to slap on partsbox rims (lambos from a diecast) very little custom work on this build, just a quick build (when did 2 months become quick ) it has the lambo rims, custom decals and a set of parts box headers running through some custom pro street style pipes (actually modified revell challenger units) comments are always welcome

thanks its a truck i got as a build up but that was no big deal since it is the snap kit, it came apart pretty simple i added the shaker to give the impression of a hemi truck, lowered the front suspension and found a different set of rims the rear rims are the same as the front only cut down so they fit inside a piece of 1 inch conduit which was then wrapped in mickey tompson sportsman tires (one was just as wide as the two duallies) i wanted the truck to match the bike so i followed the same paint sceme on it
-
(that ford has got to be the most posted truck on this forum, i swear ive seen it in at least a dozen different posts ) here is what i am trying to say : i understand the design on the 1:1 trucks and i agree the resin parts are great replicas but i personally just dont like the way it looks, to me it seems like it was designed to have duallies on the front AND back but they failed to install the front outer rims maybe your right and the deep offset on the front would be too much but the way the inner hub sticks out on the front just looks wierd too, im sure weve gotten used to it because all duallies are like it but i still think that IF you want to keep the same rims all around it would look better if they installed the front rims like outers though i still think a special designed wheel with a lesser offset would look best on the front if someone has a set of duallies i can expirement with id be more then happy to convert the dual rears to single fronts but for now, this is how my "dually" rolls
-
see, that is still the way i dont like it the front wheel is basically the back inner wheel minus the outter wheel it just looks cheap to me, like they couldnt be bothered to design a front wheel that would match the rear wheels even if they would shorten the fron axle so that they could fit the front wheel like the rear outer wheel it would look so much better, but as it sits the front looks incomplete (not knocking your resin caster, i know this is acurate, its just a gripe i have with the 1:1 trucks)
-
that looks cool but please please PLEASE put a set of decent rims on the front...i hate those "im to cheap to desing a set of rims for the front so in using the rears" that you see on all duallies
-
looks good so far id say the paint looks too good to be called a stock 77 car...maybe a recent resto ? i would suggest doing a few nice washes on the front chrome to make it looks a little more realistic have you decided on rolling stock yet ? with a paint like that it almost has to be late model mudstank bullit rims as for the deep steelies, id be more then happy to take them off your hands

Synchronizing 2 motorcycle engines side by side
diymirage replied to LDO's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
back home we had this thing called "plaggencross" its kinda like a circle track demolition derby but instead of a track it would be raced on a cornfield, after the harvest but before the plowing so all the stumps were still there there was this one team from belgium that ran iether a 2CV or a bug (cant remember) with a hayabusa engine on each wheel they were synchronised but not attached -
