  1. I am in with a C1 Corvette.... pro-touring style I ordered it this morning
  2. Awesome design with the wheel covers... Do you have any profile shots of how it sits right now?
  3. Cool! What is the story on the B400 in the background? I was just contemplating building one of those the other day...
  4. AMAZING!!! I was going to attempt this... but there is no way in hell that I will make it as awesome as you have done. Do you have these pictures?: http://www.hubgarage.com/mygarage/ridlerelite8/vehicles/465
  5. AWESOME! A little birdie told me that you might be able to cast a Challenger hood for me... would that be possible?
  6. First off... can I buy some of your skills!?!?! Secondly, that is AWESOME!!! This will be the project of the year! I am seeing it in a satin silver... ala Jay Leno's helicopter engine powered thing that GM built a few years ago... Well... I am out of words to describe this... CONTINUE! I feel this will be one of those threads that I refresh every 5 minutes to see if there is an update.
  7. Would any one be up for a Bonneville buildoff? The last few years, in going over Bonneville photos, anything goes. You can put a jet engine in a Mustang, you can put a straight six in a Mazda Rx-7, you can put an Allison V-12 in a semi, the possbilities are endless. Oftimes, the spectators at Bonneville have pretty cool vehicles, so we could have a racer class and a spectator class... My other idea is a Pikes Peak Hill Climb group build/buildoff. The vehicles that enter this event run the gamut. Anything from stone stock to a totally modified semi... The Suzuki XL-7 from Japan looks to be the most modified and then on the other end of the spectrum is Rhys Millen's Solstice. Just looking for some variety in builds to maybe interest other members. Let me hear your thoughts.
  8. Cool... I will go with the Fiat Topolino. The kit has not been rereleased... but I will get started as soon as I get one. I am going to clone a famous altered from the past... On second thought maybe I will go with a Mercedes Gullwing set up for drag racing... I guess I have some time to decide.
  9. Would a Fiat 500 count? If not, I will see what I can russell up... I'll get back with you. EDIT: I am either going to enter a Fiat Topolino or a Porsche 911... you tell me which one would fit better.
  10. After that long ass commercial break, back to kustom programming. This nailhead and I are in the midst of one hell of a battle to get it shoehorned where a spindly flathead fit before. My JF body came in today and I am super happy with it, now that the preliminary clean up is done, this ol girl is looking pretty ###### sinister... There is one pretty ###### major problem however and it makes me madder than a gay dude with tonsillitis on Valentine's Day, the deck lid sits about 2" scale in the deck lid hole... not good... we will see what to do about that. Aside from that problem in this picture, this baby looks positively bitchin! Makes me want to drop the xacto knife and make a beeline for the ol garage A side profile chop educates everyone on how amazing a chopped coupe looks. I am not sure the exact amount of the chop... does anyone know what JF had in mind? The only problem I have with this project so far (###### I sound bitchy) is the wheels and tires, they look almost cartoony in the side profile shot. There are a few fitment problems e.g. lining up the hood and cowl, the body sits a little proud of where I would like it, but for $10 I am am stoked! This thing is so photogenic... I am going to leave you with this one last picture... Wait a minute, is that a '53 Ford chopped, decked, shaved and shortened in the background? How in the hell did that thing sneak onto my photo set
  11. THIS IS AWESOME!! You have inspired my next project. Can you tell me the specifics on the wheels and tires? The WWW's are perfect!
  12. HOT D@MN!! This is amazing! I am sure you are smiling from ear to ear seeing how that body turned out... there is only one word that I can think of to describe this design/car... SEXY!!! The art deco cars of the '20-30's (Delahaye, Cord, Cadillac, Rolls Royce) almost pale in comparison to this work of art... I just wish I had the money to make the 1:1 a reality! AMAZING JOB... ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!
  13. This may be an idea for a totally different contest or it may liberate this one I do not know... In the hot rod world, it seems like the Ridler award is the one everyone chases lately. The works of art/automobiles are outstanding, amazing, one off creations that are hard as hell each year to top. What if there was a Model Ridler award... someone could master a trophy that looks like a miniature of the Ridler award.... It is a cool art deco looking trophy and I am sure many would be thrilled to have it in their possession for a year (the Ridler is a traveling trophy). Here are the rules posted for the sake of discussion:
  14. Inspiration abounds! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthr...p?t=257556&
  15. Welll... good to see everyone is still building away... I finally figured out that the '66 AMT Buick Riviera comes with a Nailhead motor so we (yes, I do have a frog in my pocket ) pulled it from that kit, threw 'er together with a little blu-tack and here is the result. I am still waiting on the resin body that I ordered to be delivered so I started screwing with some pinstriping decals. I am not totally sold on them, what do you all think?
  16. This wouldn't be influenced by some of Rikster's art would it? LOOKS AMAZING!
  17. Sorry to bring this to the top without an update, but I got the bright idea to model a CSP unit. A few questions, do both styles of wheels (alloy and black steelies) come in the package and do the spotlights come as well? I realize it may be to early to answer these questions, but whenever you can... that would be cool! I accidently preordered the LA Charger. Do all of the boxings come with the same parts? Because I just noticed it does not have the front guard and all CSP Chargers have the front guard and alloy wheels.
  18. Hello all! Thanks for the well wishes. As far as the modifications, I am trying to do things that are entirely possible in the real world. This is going to be the 3D guide for the 1:1 so everything needs to be possible. Please add suggestions, comments, criticism, whatever! Since this is going to be a kustom, I went out in the ol' boneyard and drug in a '58 Impala dash for surgery. Of course, since the '36 isn't one of those chrome '50s barges, I had to section the dash immensely. The dash fit is still a little dodgy, but I think if I continue it on through the doors, it will look pretty righteous. Since the Impala is so freakin wide, the first time I sectioned the dash, the steering wheel would have been in the middle of the car, that will not work so I cut off the column and I think I am going to design a column drop somewhere more realistic Since the dash was turning out so good, I figured we might as well add an Impala seat as well, adds to the kustom look, one of the benefits to the Impala seat is the 50/50 arrangement, so the backs can be folded down separately, yet it still has the traditional look of a bench seat. We are going to put some tuck and roll in the middle so that should look pretty good. I need some '36 Ford horn covers for the door panels, does anyone have a spare set? Also, does anyone know what size the horn covers are on the 1:1? Mine has no front clip so I cannot measure. Lastly, in a word, my pictures suck! Does anyone have any good photo tips?
  19. Well... hopefully this goes better than the last WIP. I want to create a replica/vision of my 1:1 and the girlfriend calls it Oscar... As far as the plans: Hand rubbed black with a very subtle green candy (do subtle and candy go in the same sentence?) dark green guts (leather) '58 Impala dash no hood sides Nailhead engine Studebaker President hupcaps modified to have chrome spiders Does anyone know where I can get spyder lugnut caps in 1:24? rumble seat lots of louvers creme and dark green pinstriping I am starting with the so far super crappy AMT kit. There is enough flash to fill the freakin trash can and the door panels have every single thing molded into them. That will not work for opening doors! I hate how the body and the roof go together and the roof is warped anyway, so I ordered a chopped body from Jimmy Flintstone. I have the wheel covers, engine and brakes on order from The Parts Box so that should be here soon. Hopefully I can find some photoetch for the grill, door handles, that sorta thing. In case you are not famaliar with the motor here are a few pictures: I absolutely love the '36 built by Cole Foster for the dude from Metallica so that is where a lot of the influence will come from: Also, this red and black '36 is freakin awesome so I will be taking some cues from that: What it boils down to is a custom with a lot of hot rod touches... sort of a sleeper... a cruiser and a bruiser you could say Here are the mockup pictures thus far:
  20. When you do... would you mind sending me a PM so I can join in in case I do not see it? Thanks!
  21. I REPORT SUCCESS!!! This is awesome! I put it back in the oven cleaner bath, so it will soak when I am at work and then I will get the rest off. All of the supposed crazing is gone. I will get pictures when I get off work! Thanks a million! Especially you Plastic Freak! Remington
  22. Well then... we can peel as friends
  23. Well, so far so good... I scrubbed it a little last night and a lot of the primer came off. I resoaked it today and I hope I can prime tonight with some Plasticote. Thank you so so so so so so much for all the help! Remington
