  1. That is indeed the 426 Hemi in the RoadRunner kit. As to your question Tony, the D50 was in fact a Mitsubishi built truck and was powered by the anemic 2.6L 4 cylinder (now, add a turbo to the 2.6L and watch out!).
  2. With respects to the criticisms of this kit, if I can find one reasonably priced I will get one. I love the real 64-65 Falcons, and God knows I have enough chassis and engines from dead Mustangs of the era sitting here to easily correct the chassis/engine gripes. As to the slab-sided body....guess some hot water and careful rolling will be in order. All in all, I see it as a good bit of kitbash-worthy styrene (these are merely my opinions, and should NOT be taken for anything more than just that).
  3. Ah, he moved them...sneaky Jim! Being as Florida doesn't require front plates, I failed to look that hard at the front. The bars are the Vietnam Service Ribbon.
  4. Looks good Jim! Just one question: Where is the normal license plate?
  5. Very nice looking Pete and trailer. Did you stretch the trailer to 48', or is the long wheelbase of the tractor playing dimension tricks?
  6. Thanks for the info and link!

    Blackbirds

Hey Cliff, nice to see you building again. After your 'Twin Bees' build thread stopped, I went through withdraw syndrome......I will be watching these. Cool idea with the shaker hood scoop integration on the Daytona/Superbird platform!
  8. I have faith in you Jim, having seen some of your other builds. Shocks and springs can be easily done; I believe there was even a tutorial written in the 'Tips' section a while back that addressed this very subject. Keep on it Jim, you will prevail and be that much more skilled for having done so. HooRah Marine. Found it: http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=37867&view=findpost&p=390035&hl=scratchbuilt&fromsearch=1

    Low down T

That is cool, junk parts or not it sure looks sexy!
  10. I have talked with Kris about the very body pictured above. Very nice 1979-82 body, but while discussing it I was able to see some errors in this body as well. That being said, it does look very nice and fills a need for the 4eye coupes (my favorite style by the way). It is the best 1/25th coupe transkit to date, and worth the price of admission. I haven't had the ability to get a Reliable Resin offering in my hands, but just by the pics I can see some flaws. However, for a 1/24th offering, it is the closest to correct of any of the current offerings in that scale (to date).

Well, just because I don't finish doesn't mean I do not possess the skill set to build or have the capacity to look at other builds and objectively critique. I thank you for your opinion, but I do believe it carries a slight bit of irrelevence as you asking for criticism and then getting huffy when some give it takes away from your own credibility. This, of course, is only my opinion......(this was kept within the confines of modest free speech, free from anger and the overpowering urge to tell it like it is. As I said, I can be cruel when pushed). If you would like to see who you are dealing with, take a look down in the FOX CBP thread. I'm sure my 'unfinished' builds will be quite on par with your finished pieces......and you can search the 'on the workbench' section for more. Like I said, I may not finish many, but I do possess the ability to build quite well. I believe my comments are quite justified and carry just as much weight and worth to be here as anyone else' do. Thank YOU and carry on building.
  12. Scott, this is looking great! Bob Glidden would be proud of your efforts.

(Dons Flame suit and gets hot dogs ready). You wanted constructive criticism and once you got it, you respond poorly to it? It seems to bring to mind someone else here who has THE SAME attitude, and I refuse to comment on their builds for that reason. Terry has very valid points in all of his findings and presents them in a civil manner. If you would prefer, we could either completely ignore your builds (of which we see you cannot take), or we can blatantly and bluntly put our findings (again, seeing your reaction to this well put constructive criticism shows you couldn't handle). My advice, find some humility and humbly accept the criticism and use it to advance your skills. If you can't do so, keep posting your builds WITHOUT asking for the 'criticism' and be happy with the responses you do get. Now, I agree with what Terry has posted and commend him for his civility; I am far more cruel. But then again, I rarely finish any builds I start (due to my desire for absolute perfection), so take it as you will.
  14. Well, look for this kit to be debuted later this year, and go into production mid-2012. I talked with Ed a short while ago about it, and it will be a nitrous car at the moment. He didn't rule out a turbo option, and as soon as the local drag strip opens, I will be sending him pictures and measurements from some of the local racers to use as reference for the kit parts.
  15. Jason, you have a few options as far as refinishing the wheel centers. 1) Lightly scuff them in a circular pattern with light strokes from a Scotch-Brite pad and then dullcoat them 2) Strip the chrome and paint them with Alclad Aluminum 3) Bare Metal Foil them once you have stripped them of the chrome finish (they have a Dull Aluminum sheet available....if I remember correctly) Keep the builds coming guys! Good weather is here, so now is the time I can get some painting done and move forward on the builds.
  16. Cool to see someone who knows the boat putting the kit together. The photoetch differences could be from different times in her service life, as even our E-2Cs varied depending on whether it was a Group0, Group1, Group2, Group2+, or Hawkeye2000. Keep building her Capn'.....I'll keep an eye on it!
  17. Do you know if Joe Miles still works at that Hobbytown location? I used to go there a LOT when I was stationed in Norfolk; Joe Miles and Jerry Quick were two of my friends (and I belonged to T.A.M.S), Joe working for Hobbytown.
  18. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=38491 Less than 2 minutes searching, including the copy/paste and type time......
  19. Tony and Jason..........both of you guys' cars are looking good! Jason; the 95 CobraR wheels from Tamiya look good on the FOX, and to cure your too small 96GT wheels, trim the outer ring down and stick them in some Pegasus 19" sleeves. Tony; Backyard Billy and Driveway Dave have some good looking foundations on which to lay their paint down. Hope their efforts work out to some seriously shiny topcoats!
  20. Looks good Mike. The 'T's go with the lines of the truck.
  21. Terry, you moderate at ARC? I am a member there as well (HawkeyeP3P on ARC). Agreed with Terry here, ARC is one of, if not THE best aircraft forum out there.............period.
  22. What keeps me going? A powerful need to eat, and an unwavering desire for warm and cozy. Besides that; my family back home in Florida, my friends, and my fuzzy/scaly buddies. Mortgage and utility bills are a "need to do' thing, but my little critters are a 'want to do' thing. I wouldn't say models even play a part in keeping me going, but they do keep me from killing!
  23. These lacquers are very thin, and I have found that they do not adhere well to even Dupli-color primer. I have had to re-shoot my Impala twice for the very same reason you did, only mine was the tape I was using to mask off the trim. I ended up having to hand-paint the trim. I would assume a good automotive clear might help seal them down and keep this lift from happening.
  24. Thanks for adding the info, Bob. Even though I am not going to model one right now, I will squirrel the info away for future use!
  25. Roy, thanks for the decal/stripe info. It does help a lot. At least I can order up a set and remove the Red section to border the Blue I will be using. Thanks again, and nice looking combo you have there.
