Over on the TRAK board Steve Boutte showed how to carve a recess inside the body to fit flat plastic sheet "glass" on a custom 49 Mercury. You might have to sign up for the board to view it, but it's worth it, it's a great thread. He might have posted it here, too (user SBK on here) but I couldn't find it. http://trakinscale.proboards.com/post/154041/thread

I want to build a ship..........
Brett Barrow replied to JollySipper's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I built the smaller of the two Revell USS Constitutions (1/196) back when I was a teenager. I remember it as being pretty fun and not too difficult. It's cheap and still readily available. -
If it's a production sample then that means they're probably loading up the container ship now, give it 4-6 weeks on the water, another week or two to make it out of the port and to distributors, then late July/August would be likely.

Yep, that's what I figured. I just thought folks would be more familiar with sandblasted texture than EDM texture!

Moebius `65 Plymouth Satellite
Brett Barrow replied to FASTBACK340's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Nope, this would most likely be a production sample. The manufacturer will air freight a case or two over in advance of the main shipment which rides a container ship from China. That way they can check them make sure everything's Ok before the boat leaves and send a few out for magazine reviews or test builds to buddies and folks who helped with the kit design. -

In all the excitement over the Pickups getting close, I didn't realize this was that close too! Lots of blanked off/missing parts hinting at future variants! -
Just the body and top of the hood (it's molded with a mulit-part mold like a body so they could get the lettering on the front, the front part is polished.) I didn't notice anything on my chrome tree, but I didn't really look for it. It's like they sandblasted those parts of the tooling instead of polishing it. It's not bad, just odd.

Moebius 67-72 Ford Pick-up news
Brett Barrow replied to Dave Metzner's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
I'm excited for these, too, maybe more excited than I have ever been for a new kit, and I'm not really a truck guy. Moebius' 61 Pontiac and Revell's new Model A's have me pretty exicted, too. -

Wow, impressive stuff, especially coming from a beginner. Hope you stick with modeling, you've got natural talent for sure! -

32 5-WINDOW CHOPPED W/GLASS?
Brett Barrow replied to fseva's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Scrape a groove into the frame. You can CA glue a chunk of plastic to an Xacto blade to make a stop to set the proper width. -
modifying or adapting wheels

Sometimes it's easy, you get lucky and can use the wheel backs from the kit with the other tires and wheels. -

Give it a week or two. They're close. Late June is a conservative estimate. Early to mid is more likely. -

Revell says they will be partially pre-painted. No engine. I'm guessing that means that the main sponsor markings will be printed directly onto the body like the previous "ProFinish" Nascar kits. Nope, just the stripe will be printed. Sponsor markings will be stickers....

A new-tool 56 F-100 would be great and would probably have the best potential for a later non-Foose kit.

I sent an email to Ed Sexton at Revell asking about them but he's out of the office until the 21st. Any info I get I'll pass along.

I believe it will be a pre paint. That was the plan last I heard.
