  1. Current projects: Double Deuce project Monogram Black Widow rebuild 1962 Thunderbird original issue junker converted to two seater speedster custom 1936 Ford 3 window coupe custom with blown Ardun flathead, no running boards Fixing a built Monogram 1932 Ford sport coupe Creating a 1/25th scale leather bomber jacket from painted masking tape, flocking for the fleece lining and collar Recreating the Stuart Hilborn streamliner and about a bazillion more........................................
  2. Here's mine: The gang's working on their rods, and Abbie the Primer Pooch is checking things out.................
  3. Guys, thanks for the info, and especially Jairus for that great diagram!
  4. There was a fat fender Ford kit that had a Columbia two speed rear axle. Anyone remember which one?
  5. It's right if it makes it go faster..................
  6. moe pix- This is the third set of headers for the Boss 429- the first scratch built set hung way too low, held the front off the ground, tried to shorten them, but they didn't look right, second altered set had clearance problems, and these needed major surgury to line up with the heads.... Finally some paint- needs some light touch up sanding and clear coat, then ready for u-no-what! The flathead now has a scratch built junction box for all the wiring, which will mount on the firewall. It has a cover for the left side which will go on after all the wires are trimmed. Still need oil lines, fuel lines, and throttle linkage. Starting to wire the Boss 429. Two plugs per cylinder, a lot of spaghetti, plus one wire per distributor will be routed to a firewall mounted super coil. Had a bear of a time getting the wire looms to stay put- another hold up. Need to work on the Weber carbs to get the throttle rod to go through at the same level- more tinkering definitely needed.
  7. Yes, I am still working on the double deuce project! There have been some problems- parts and assemblies breaking, parts not fitting, general headaches- and remember, we do this for FUN! rolling chassis (anyone know the plural for chassis?), installing brake hoses. Note the subtle difference between narrow older tires and wider newer tires. Interiors with engine turned (sort of) aluminum dashes. Model Car Garage gauge faces. S.C.T.A. dash plaques. Scratch built hand pump for fuel for blue deuce. Control knobs for lights, wipers, and choke turned in a rotary tool. Front view of interiors with seats placed- I attempted to simulate worn, cracking leather with dry brushed flat light tan- any comments on how this looks very welcome. More to come.....
  8. That's so beautiful I could cry............I am ENVIOUS!
  9. I would write to whoever you bought the kit from and enclose a few of those pix, and ask them to make it right. If that doesn't work, write to the manufacturer, again with pix, and ask for a new body, and perhaps mention how the supplier shipped it to you.
  10. Replicas and Miniatures of Maryland (Norm Veber) has some. Quality is always excellent, also delivery.
  11. Gregg, You could always buy a futon, sleep on it, and use the bedroom for storage and model building..........................
  12. AMT's 3 in 1 boat kit, back in 1959 when I was 6. got the reissue, some day I will build it with cigar wrapper planking over the hull, maybe an Offenhauser engine built to look like a Miller marine unit.
  13. I am a foundry tooling engineer for Urick Foundry in Erie, Pa. We make ductile iron castings for a wide variety of industrial applications for our customers, and also supply all the ductile iron castings for our parent company, Ridge Tool Co.
  14. I have an idea for a new category for model meets and contests. How about a table displaying old models that we have purchased built up but no one knows who the original builder is? This could be a tribute to early, mostly "out of the box" builds or modified models showing the early years of the hobby. I think it would be fun and a great way to honor the unknown builders. Who knows, maybe someone would recognize a model they built years ago and could give some history to the new owner!
  15. A. C. Moore has soft plastic animal figures of all sorts that look to be right for 1/25th scale. Not too expensive, either.
  16. just needs a bucket of powdered lime for when the biffy gets whiffy....................
  17. cut a pen barrel in half lengthwise and use it for a drive shaft tunnel
  18. Gregg, Looks like I won't be able to get to NNL East after all. Another health issue has raised its head in the form of jaundice- I look like a bowl of saffron rice! My liver function numbers are way up and the docs haven't isolated a cause yet, except that it doesn't seem to be viral. I was really looking forward to going and bringing the Double Deuce project as a primer project, but I guess it will have to wait until next year- maybe I'll get it done by then! Well, just print a lot of pix in the mag and I'll enjoy the show from my arm chair!
  19. I plan on being there, Gregg- thanks for this generous offer! I assume these are for everyone who participates in the forum, and not just vendors?
  20. Would someone from M.A.M.A's be willing to bring along some of Norm's latest price lists? It would dull the pain..............
  21. my, how the mighty are fallen! from superbird to superturd! that is a great aging job! and wouldn't you take a full size one if it was offered!
