  1. the one and only thing that would make this truck better would be opening rear doors to reveal a fully equipped shop!
  2. Followed this build from the beginning, turned out great! Well worth the time you spent on it. I used one of Chris Etzel's Offies in a 32 tracknose with side draft Weber carbs- sort of like Lou Senter's track nose T roadster.
  3. seems like hot rods and similar models (dragsters, etc.) would suffer in this category since the focus is usually the engine, and without any detailing an engine would look pretty bare- anyone know of exceptions where basic engine detailing is allowed?
  4. DENNIS, GREAT BUILD OF A PERIOD CORRECT HOT ROD! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE MORE!
  5. BEEN FOLLOWING THIS PROJECT SINCE THE BEGINNING- LOOKING GREAT! CAN'T WAIT TO SEE THE FINISHED PIX!
  6. FANTASTIC BUILD- CAN'T WAIT TO SEE IT FINISHED! ANY THOUGHTS ON COLORS?
  7. French curves were developed by Thomas E. French, Professor of Engineering Drawing at Ohio State University.
  8. Great builds of some tough kits. All your work was well worth it!
  9. That's a great build in progress. I did a '29 a-v8 awhile back, but on '32 Ford rails. I did mine as highboy. Will yours have fenders or will you ditch them?
  10. I love it- by the way, what are the headlight buckets from? they look huge........
  11. a static model is any model that collects dust................
  12. Peter, thanks so much for the pm with the link to your photos! As luck would have it, the dreaded red x's disappeared and the photos appeared in your post! Computer magic! The concept, the car, the greyhounds, and wayward Cybele are all just great! Congrats for one of the most imaginative builds and stories in a loooooong time! I will take time to go back to your site and check out your other builds.
  13. I would love to see it- but all the pix came out as the dreaded red x!
  14. Great build, love the display- where did you get, or how did you create, the posters and programs?
  15. I could go for some track nose grilles, a '36 Ford grille, almost anything now made as photo-etch. Circular gauge bezels are another idea, also steering wheels.
  16. Great build- love it! It's all about having fun, and I would say you are having your fair share! I'm guessing the wheels are from the double dragster, the grille from Pyro/Lindberg's Auburn, and the body from the new 32 sedan?
  17. Please lose the donk wheels and go back to the spokes and white walls- that's what really caught my eye on this build, and I think your first instincts were right on.
  18. Thanks for the kind words, Mark. I really enjoy the hot rods from the 30's and 40's, this model tries to represent that. The companion deuce is metallic maroon, built to represent a 1 owner car gradually updated with disc brakes, wider tires, and a newer engine- otherwise much the same. I have had header issues on the maroon deuce, currently on the fourth set...............once I get that resolved, the rest of the build should go well, then on to the Black Widow rebuild. By the way, Mark, your cat looks fine to me..................
  19. Great builds! Can't wait for your how to article! I also agree- the white walls are way too clean!
  20. The old Firestones were from a parts buy I made about a year ago. I have no idea what they were from or even if they are kit tires, but they are very old. The lettering had been painted white, rather the worse for wear, so I shot them with primer. Thanks for the nice comments on the deuce- tried for a traditional build, spiffed up with some midnight blue paint.
  21. I second Early Years Resin- fast shipping, complete order, well packaged, very good quality- you need this stuff! Replicas and Miniatures also has a lot of good stuff, although I can't remember what Norm might have for dropped axles.
