  1. It's Here! It's Here! It's Here! Thursday's here! Tonight's the night! The BSAC meet tonight!
  2. Hey! Watch the language! Let's not have any obtuse end pinching talk around here! This is a family forum, next thing you know you'll be trying to show us your acute end and doing who knows what with theorems!
  3. Yes, but if you don't attend you will be modified to include points and angles, which will cause you to lose your spheriod card. All the other kids will then make fun of you.
  4. The Buckeye Scale Auto Club will have its January meeting this Thursday at Panera Bread in Westerville at 7:30. Be there or be geometric!
  5. Remarkably Harry, he's already been hit with dullcoat and the cartridges were painted after! I have no idea where the shine came from in the photo, he looks dead flat in real life! Maybe there is a mysterious reverse dulling process because I used flat acrylics over flat enamals and sealed it with flat dullcoat. ! Thanks for the tip though, all suggestions are welcome and considered. Haubenschild, he sat in a box for years with just a basecoat on him because I was a little itimidated by the prospect of painting him with my limited skills.
  6. Dragon. It's the dry season so he's more dusty than muddy!
  7. Thanks, guys! Now back to cars, there's a '69 Nova that needs built.
  8. I started this years ago and gave up. A couple of weeks ago I started on it again, the cammo was a, uh, challenge. The bandoliers were also a, uh, challenge. There was also some fit problems, but hey, it's together! Comments welcome!
  9. Thanks! Here's a test: Enjoy! I hope they show up!
  10. How do you post videos? I have a few you may enjoy from recent gasser reunions.
  11. OK, I've seen this video several times and the responses always amaze me! My fav is the "they used an old rusty POS for the test." Doesn't matter. I own a 1959 Ford and I can tell you, it's a death trap compared to my new Ranger. First, the dash is metal, real steel, no padding. How hard ya wanna bang yer head on that? No locking seat backs to launch you through the windshield at a higher rate of speed. Windshield is heavier and more solidly mounted so it's sure to kill you as you fly through it. The steering column is a solid shaft from the gear box to the wheel, which impales you in a head on collision. Oh yeah, NO SEATBELTS in 1959! That's right, when the car stops suddenly, you don't. Lastly, crumple zones are non existent! I had the front clip off her to change the motor and it weighs a ton! It took 5 guys to comfortably lift it off and there was no flex at all. When hit, all of the energy transfers and is not absorbed leading to greater damage. If you study the physics of the whole deal, the energy has to go somewhere when 2 two ton objects collide. BTW, you all know that the new cars weigh almost as much as the old ones, right? So there is no weight advantage for the old car. So we have 2 objects that weigh the same traveling at the same speed and stop from impact. One dissipates the energy throughout the whole vehicle and the other does not. Guess which one loses? Simple physics, the one that doesn't flex! I simplified this whole deal because it can get a little boring if you're not a math/science geek. Here's a gratuitous photo of my '59:
  12. Last night was the BSAC's annual Christmas Party at President Mark H's house. We had a great turnout and a lot of fun. A gift exchange happened after we voted for Model of the Year and Same Kit Night Winner. The club provided food for all. Here's some photos of the festivities: Model of the year was built by Mike N. Mike receiving his award: Same Kit Night winner built by Mike N.: Modeler of the Year - Don S.: The models: More photos at: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v720/Ramcharger/BSAC%20Meetings/BSAC%20Christmas%20Party%2011/
  13. Here's the photos I took at the NNL: http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v720/Ramcharger/Model%20Car%20Shows/DetroitNNL%202011/ BTW, there were some great deals there! We'll be back again next year.
  14. AMT 70 1/2 Camaro. It was on three wheels during the chassis buildup, so I corrected that. Then during the tedious final assembly that required the repeated grinding and trial fitting on the chassis, body, & windshield, the dreaded tripod effect returned undoing my previous work. It has been the only model I have ever thrown at the wall. I felt much better and now think it was the best end to that particular model.
  15. Here's the photos from last week: http://smg.photobuck...BSAC%2011-5-11/
  16. Uh, no. Well, maybe! Thanks for the compliments from all of you. Funny you should mention them running back in the day, Jim, I used to watch all of the Roush cars at Mid-Ohio
  17. I finally finished it! The Whistler Mustang Road Racer from the 90's is done. I built all of the 80's versions and I'm starting on the 90's cars. The kit is pretty good for its age, except for the molded in detail that is almost impossible to paint, so I didn't. I foiled the chassis and interior with Aluminum BMF. The Chassis plate was a little warped, too bad I didn't notice it until half way through the build. I used red flake paint on the top and a white flake on the bottom part. The decals were a b*%@!. Typical Monogram/Revell from the old days. I reshot the wheels with Alclad Airframe Aluminum because the chrome was ######. The body is also a poor fit for the old 80's chassis. BTW, the chassis is close but no cigar for the real car. Research revealed a few problems. I was thinking of doing an all out build of the Lappalainin car, but I'd have to scratchbuild a chassis for it. I'm not so sure I'm up to it. Anyhoo, here's the photos:
  18. 12,843,622. Exactly. I hope you were keeping count, if you weren't you have to start all over again. Sorry.
  19. That's right, Boils and Ghouls, the BSAC is having their annual November meeting next week! That's right, in seven, count them, seven short days we will have the modeling meeting to end all modeling meetings at Panera Bread in Westerville, OH at the corner of State and Maxtown. If you are in the Columbus area that evening come see Mark "the Marauder" vs Dan "the Destroyer", Mike "the Mauler" vs, Rob "Killer Build", and our title match up is Ron & Don "the Dynamic Dou" vs the Masked Mexican Modelers! Don't miss it!
  20. I just went through this with the Whistler Mustang IMSA. It's molded in red, the body is red with the lowers being white, after clear the white parts turned orange. I used primers, sealers, magic amulets, and voodoo curses. Every repaint turned out with an orange tint. So I went into my stash and used the lowers from the JPS Mustang that are molded in black. Since the JPS car is black the problem won't be seen. The roll cage, luckily, can be red black or off white, guess which one I chose? That's right - red. The only real way to solve this problem is to paint the car red or orange (or a variant) or black, which hides the tint. Otherwise, build another kit molded in another color.
  21. Someone who goes on museum tours and gets paid for it?
