Thanks, guys! I had to paint the hood center orange because the decals are incomplete and do not include the section for the louvers. The "6" on the hood was clear so I had to cut one out of decal paper by hand, it sucked. I built this one up during the 24 Hours of Daytona on Saturday, then finished up on Monday. These are fun builds, I may try to find another and build the all red Miller car. Bob, if you need to know any building tips for these kits, let me know. There are a few, ah, foibles shall we say.

Here's my Miller Mustang I just finished, it's box stock. More fun with the '80's Monogram decals! Comments welcome!

I have an '82 Miller Mustang to build during the 24 hours of Daytona, and then the Motorsport Mustang GTP after that.

Thanks guys, I thought it was looking a little rough! I really appreciate your comments. There will be more to come after I finish my box stock Camaro.

First you spray the whole thing gold. Then you lay a fine mesh screen over the part, the closer the screen is to the part, the clearer the detail. I got the screen in the fabric dept. at Wal-Mart. Then you spray light brown over the part with the screen on it. Remove the screen and lightly spray with Candy Root Beer. Finally, hit it with some clear. Voila! Poor man's carbon fiber!

Here's the Mustang GTP I've been working on. The final assembly was a bit of a challenge and the window installation leaves a lot to be desired. here's the pics: Comments welcome!

Nope, we're in Columbus (Westerville). I used to live in Mansfield for years before I moved south. Good to hear from someone from the old neighborhood.

Yes, it's Gold with transparent Light Brown over it through a screen, then I shot Candy Root Beer over that.

I usually don't post WIP pics, but I thought this one came out pretty good. I used paint to simulate carbon fiber and I thought it come out pretty decent. Once the model is built most of it is hard to see, so here it is: Comments welcome!

Show/Contest Judges - Touch Or No Touch?
Ramcharger replied to seeker589's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
There was an instance where a new road racer was learning to race his newly built Improved Touring B VW-GTI - he misjudged traction and his braking point and rear-ended a Honda Civic HARD! Ultimately - the responsibility was of the owners of their respective cars. Competition is dangerous and you can't have insurance coverage on the racetrack - if you can - how much would that cost?! I think I misunderstood the original post. In racing competition of course the owner is responsible for damage, I was thinking you were talking about a static show. If the judges are sitting in and starting a car at a static show, I'm thinking the owner is not responsible for damage by someone else. It kind of goes back to the idea of touching another man's wife - you just don't! When entering a show (1:1 or scale/ NNL or judged contest) a model owner takes risk. The Crowd can get unruly or the judge can get careless. A risk that is out of everyone's control, I would think. Why increase it by purposely handling someone's model? Quitting because something gets broken or doesn't go in the builder's favor does not reflect maturity. I don't think I would quit competing, but the likelihood of me or my friends returning to that particular show would be slim to none - and Slim just left town! How much respect did we give the kid who got angry when he lost his baseball or soccer game? That's a different topic all together. If you lose, you need to build better, not whine more. Will you get screwed at a show - yes, if you compete long enough. But that is the nature of the game. Excellent, mature discussion, BTW. Much better than what we have had lately around here! You, also, make some very valid points. -

I'm just pointing out a few things you may not have thought of, not starting a flame war. -
It was looking good, bro! Too bad about the decal thing. I've had the same luck with a couple of mine lately. I have a 7-11 GTP car on the bench now with a decal issue.

Nice builds, by the way!

Here's pics from the Buckeye Scale Auto Club's January meeting. The turnout was small due to the horrible weather that was hitting central Ohio all day. We had three diehards show for a little Mexican food and Model car discussion. No club business was conducted except for the monthly contest won by Ron Francis in both theme (box Stock) and non theme. It sound heroic to win both in the same month, but they were the only two completed models on the table. Here's the pics: theme winner: Mark's cool funny car hauler WIP: More at the link: BSAC Jan Mtg.

Scca World Challenge...Good News
Ramcharger replied to Zoom Zoom's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm glad to see it will be shown again, it's some of the best racing out there! -
Nice build, I just built mine box stock. The extra detail looks good.

I have all of the road racing Mustang kits, the '85 cars (7-11, Folgers, & Motorcraft) (done) build up real nice same with the '90 cars (Whistler, JPS, & 25th Anniv.) (yet to be built). I have a resin '88 Merkur XR4Ti (Mac Tools)body and I plan to scratch build a '89 Cougar (Stroh's) from a stock body and a '90 Mustang. I have built the resin rear engine Mustang Probe GTP and the front engine GTP cars are after the Miller car. I built Charlie Kemp's Cobra II car from the Testor's curbside kit. As you can tell, I really like road racing Mustangs! I used to sneak into Mid-Ohio Sports cars track and watch them run when I was a kid.

The last build of 2009. Here's a few pictures of my Ford Motorsport IMSA Mustang. It was a difficult build from the decals to the final assembly, this car is not for the faint of heart. I had to rebuild the roll cage after a test fit, and found after several tries that the front of the cage needed trimmed. The decals required setting and softening solution and white glue to get them to conform to the curves. The rear spoiler requires a lot of work to get it smooth. Now that I've learned all of it's foibles, I'll try the Miller Mustang next! Here's the pix! Here's the next in line: More at the link: IMSA Mustangs

I decieded to add a base to keep it in the wheelie position and add some smoke. I used clay to make the smoke and then airbrushed it. What do you think? Enjoy!!

Kewl! I like the color, very '80's! It's nice to see people thinking differently on these show rods.

I thought about the expandable foam, but I've got an Anglia I'm going to do that with. I'll see how that one turn out, then I'll give this one a try! Your "Mother's Worry" look cool. I'm a Roth freak, I'd like to build all his kits, I'm missing the Dragnut, Mother's Worry, & the Beatnik Bandit 2. Thanks for all the compliments.

I just finished this one the other night, it was a difficult build. I made new purple decals, wired the engine, and put different rear tires on it. I have to figure out a base for it to get rid of the jackstand wheelie look. The guys in the garage seem oblivious to the huge monster popping a wheelie in the garage! Comments welcome! Thanks for looking!
