  1. It looks reder in the pictures than it really is. I used Testors Lacquer Hondorus Maroon spray can. Beatiful color.
  2. I believe it was the enamel that I airburshed (?). Don't recall 100% since it has been a little while.
  3. Here are a couple of the Dave Strickler Old Reliable Chevys that I build a couple of years ago. The 61 is a resin body and decals are from Model Car World. The 62 is the AMT model built with Model Car World decals.
  4. 57 Bel Air painted HOK Candy Apple Red with two tone tan interior. This was the first time using the HOK paint that Wal-Mart had for a while. I am pleased with it. Wasn't sure what wheels to use so I dug out a set of Keystone Classics. This has been build for about 3 years now.
  5. Here are a couple of pictures of the Revell 1949 Mercury that I build shortly after it came out. Colors are HOK Pearl White and Testors Plum Crazy.
  6. Steal away. I too have seen them in magazines but, I have also seen in person. That Mr. Norm is awesome. He sold / modified Mopar back in the 60's and still doing it today. Not sure if anybody else is doing the same conversation or not though. I have also seen some convertible Challengers as well. This was all seen at this years Chrysler at Carlisle. Great show. Mr. Norm also had a silver 2009 Cuda Coupe there.
  7. Thanks Clay never was sure how do post directly. I have modified this post.
  8. Caine440 - I have a coat of Squadron white putty and then a top coat of automotive red spot glazing to fill any left over voids Zuk - I found the picture on the internet after seeing the real car at Carlisle. Go to www.mrnormsgarage.com for pics of orange one or www.lincah.com/2009-mr-norms-426-hemi-challenger-and-426-hemi-cuda-convertibles/2009-mr-norms-426-hemi-cuda-convertible-rear-side-view for the yellow one. Olarge1 - Have been looking at the fender gills but have tackled that yet. And as far as getting a real one, I have a 2009 Challenger R/T Classic in B5 blue. Love it. Gets alot of attention. I have built a model of it as well. Here it is.
  9. Here is one that I have been messing around the past few evenings modifying. I am taking a Revell 2009 Challenger and the grille and tailights from the Revell 1971 Cuda and making a 2009 Plymouth Cuda. I had seen a real one the Mr Norms of the famed Grand Spaulding Dodge had up at the Chrysler at Carlisle show this year. His was a convertible but, I myslef don't care much for convertibles so I will leave this one as a coupe. I cut the stock Chally hood scoop out and replaced it it with sheet plastic and I will cut a hole for the shaker scoop once I get the hood squared away and looking good. I cut the stock Chally grille and headlight surrounds out and replaced them with the '71 Cuda grille and moved the headlight surrounds back behind the face of the grille. If i left them where they were the grille would have protruded out beyond the top of the bumper cover (header panel). I have replaced the Chally tailights with the pieces from the Cuda as well. I took the body out the wood shed and used a wood file, to make it go easrier, and straightened out the body lie down the side. So far the body has been thick enough that I have not went through yet, although it is getting a little thin. Finally a picture of the inspiration. What do you all think? Not sure about colors yet?
  10. Any updates / progress? Have been thinking about doing this myself but want to see how you are coming with yours.
  11. That is a great looking model of a car that you just see much of. Looks awesome.
  12. Okay quite the list. I will go and look at you thread for the build. Looks like I have my work cutout for me. Good winter project i guess.
  13. Although I have not seen those exact renders, I have seen some that were similar. Great looking car. Oh if only Chrysler would listen and build this, I feel they would have sold them just as quickly as the Challengers. People want these retro looking rides. I can not tell you the last time I seen a new Challenger on a dealer lot. As soon as they get them they are sold out. Not everybody wants what the government is trying to shove down our throats. If you decide to attempt to build this in 1/25 scale I will be looking. Maybe you could get a resin caster to make copies and you could sell them. Awesome and good luck.
  14. Has anybody built the Revell of Germany Ferrari 250 GTO? I just got one and it appears like a nice kit. Plenty of parts, what I like. Looks like a number you have built the other manufacturers kit. This will be my first Ferrari that I will build in 15 years. Does anybody know of anything I should lookout for with this kit? Any problems or corrections that should be made? Any suggest would be helpful. I plan on making it Red of course. It will be a little while till I start this, want to get reference pictures first. Right now I have started the Revell of Germany Jaguar XK 120 kit. That too seems like an okay kit. The panel seperation lines look a bit wide but I know that kit is from a diecast.
  15. As an owner of a 09 Chally, I must say execellent job. Capsures the look perfectly. Nice color as well.
  16. Looks great. Seeing yours decaled makes me want to get back on mine. Haven't had a chance. Maybe this will inspire me. What are you using for a chassis in yours?
  17. There are quite a few models that I have built that I have not been satisfied with. Sometimes I repaint them and they turn out worse for some reason or another (dirt in the paint, scratches seomthing). I put them back in there boxes for another day. Even some that I finish, I'm not 100% happy with but instead of taking a chance and messing it up worse I put it on the shelf with my completed models and move on. Maybe I will get another someday and rebuild it or not. So to answer your question, you are not alone.
  18. Getting closer to finishing. Need to add front fender and grille emblems from '70 Challenger photo-etch pieces. Need to touch up trim, rubbed black paint off handling model. Tried black trim foil, didn't care much for it. To much shine and it rubbed off as well. Seem like it was more brittle then the regular chrome foil from Bare-Metal. Then a final clean-up. Revell did a great job with this kit. Everything went together with no problems. Next up to try and modify one into the super stock verison. Not sure when I will get to that one. Have some other cars in line first.
  19. Looking goooood. Have you every been on www.ronniesox.com. This is a site that Ronnie's wife, Diane has set up and it had pictures of a lot of the Sox & Martin cars including this one. If you haven't checked it out, it is worth it. She also has t-shirts, caps and prints for sale. Glad I could be of assistance. Keep up the good work.
  20. Its great that I have inspired somebody. Hope it it works out for you. It takes a good bit to get it to fit. I narroowed the chassis, shoertened the chassis, had to cut the cage down in lentgh and height. Dug a 340 out of a AAR Cuda since the car was a small block Mopar. Made the intake manifold. Like I said, it is alot of work but, it gratifing when the cutting is done. By the way, I also used the tires out of the '66 Nova Prostreet kit on the rear. Fills the wheel well nicely I think. I will keep an eye on yours. I need to get back to mine but I have a few things in front it.
  21. Here are a few pics of mine so far. I got a ways to go as well.
  22. Awesome. I have been working on one for the past couple of years off and on. Looks great. In case you are interested Hot Rod magazine back in 1979 did a feature article on this car. I don't recall what month exactly, maybe May, I would have to dig into my reference pile to find it. With mine I took a 1985 Budweiser ProStock T-Bird and used the chassis, modified, to fit. I will post some pictures of my progess sometime this weekend. Where do you get the body? Model kit or resin from Don at Reliable Resin? Don does good work.
  23. There seems to be a resurgence in the vintage drag racing carsat the car shows, why not dig and bring back more of the old pro stocks, funny cars and stuff like that. Tool up some new vintage drag racing stuff. I know a few people that would buy more of that stuff than the newer cars. Although I am glad they did the 2009 Challengers. You see alot of the 50's Dodges and Plymouths being done in resin, I know some of them had to come from plastic kits that was on the shelfs at one time, bring back some of that stuff in plastic instead of resin. I have a feeling alot of them were Johan kits and god knows what happened to all of them. I know that has been discussed here before. How about with some of the Chevys, tooling up new bodies for the other bodies on the same chassis. A sleeper Biscayne would be cool, '58-'60 (Revell), '61(Lindberg). They want to keep raising prices for the same stuff you could buy 5-10 years ago for half the price. That and video games is what is killing the hobby.
  24. Cleared on Sunday, spent about 45 mins. rubbing it out tonight. Next up trim. Used Testors Model Master Lacquer Clear and it darkened to color.
  25. My local hobby shop closed late last year and I have gone to others near by but no one has this stuff. The Treatment MOdeal Wax "The Final Detail". Love this stuff but I need some more. Does anybody know where I can get it online? I came in a 1 oz jar with a yellow label. I looked at MicroMaerk website but the do not have it. Any help would be appericated.
