2010 Dodge Charger Concept (update 10/03/09)
jjsipes replied to Peter Lombardo's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Although I have not seen those exact renders, I have seen some that were similar. Great looking car. Oh if only Chrysler would listen and build this, I feel they would have sold them just as quickly as the Challengers. People want these retro looking rides. I can not tell you the last time I seen a new Challenger on a dealer lot. As soon as they get them they are sold out. Not everybody wants what the government is trying to shove down our throats. If you decide to attempt to build this in 1/25 scale I will be looking. Maybe you could get a resin caster to make copies and you could sell them. Awesome and good luck. -
Has anybody built the Revell of Germany Ferrari 250 GTO? I just got one and it appears like a nice kit. Plenty of parts, what I like. Looks like a number you have built the other manufacturers kit. This will be my first Ferrari that I will build in 15 years. Does anybody know of anything I should lookout for with this kit? Any problems or corrections that should be made? Any suggest would be helpful. I plan on making it Red of course. It will be a little while till I start this, want to get reference pictures first. Right now I have started the Revell of Germany Jaguar XK 120 kit. That too seems like an okay kit. The panel seperation lines look a bit wide but I know that kit is from a diecast.

As an owner of a 09 Chally, I must say execellent job. Capsures the look perfectly. Nice color as well.

Looks great. Seeing yours decaled makes me want to get back on mine. Haven't had a chance. Maybe this will inspire me. What are you using for a chassis in yours?

There are quite a few models that I have built that I have not been satisfied with. Sometimes I repaint them and they turn out worse for some reason or another (dirt in the paint, scratches seomthing). I put them back in there boxes for another day. Even some that I finish, I'm not 100% happy with but instead of taking a chance and messing it up worse I put it on the shelf with my completed models and move on. Maybe I will get another someday and rebuild it or not. So to answer your question, you are not alone.

Getting closer to finishing. Need to add front fender and grille emblems from '70 Challenger photo-etch pieces. Need to touch up trim, rubbed black paint off handling model. Tried black trim foil, didn't care much for it. To much shine and it rubbed off as well. Seem like it was more brittle then the regular chrome foil from Bare-Metal. Then a final clean-up. Revell did a great job with this kit. Everything went together with no problems. Next up to try and modify one into the super stock verison. Not sure when I will get to that one. Have some other cars in line first.

Looking goooood. Have you every been on www.ronniesox.com. This is a site that Ronnie's wife, Diane has set up and it had pictures of a lot of the Sox & Martin cars including this one. If you haven't checked it out, it is worth it. She also has t-shirts, caps and prints for sale. Glad I could be of assistance. Keep up the good work.

Its great that I have inspired somebody. Hope it it works out for you. It takes a good bit to get it to fit. I narroowed the chassis, shoertened the chassis, had to cut the cage down in lentgh and height. Dug a 340 out of a AAR Cuda since the car was a small block Mopar. Made the intake manifold. Like I said, it is alot of work but, it gratifing when the cutting is done. By the way, I also used the tires out of the '66 Nova Prostreet kit on the rear. Fills the wheel well nicely I think. I will keep an eye on yours. I need to get back to mine but I have a few things in front it.

Awesome. I have been working on one for the past couple of years off and on. Looks great. In case you are interested Hot Rod magazine back in 1979 did a feature article on this car. I don't recall what month exactly, maybe May, I would have to dig into my reference pile to find it. With mine I took a 1985 Budweiser ProStock T-Bird and used the chassis, modified, to fit. I will post some pictures of my progess sometime this weekend. Where do you get the body? Model kit or resin from Don at Reliable Resin? Don does good work.

There seems to be a resurgence in the vintage drag racing carsat the car shows, why not dig and bring back more of the old pro stocks, funny cars and stuff like that. Tool up some new vintage drag racing stuff. I know a few people that would buy more of that stuff than the newer cars. Although I am glad they did the 2009 Challengers. You see alot of the 50's Dodges and Plymouths being done in resin, I know some of them had to come from plastic kits that was on the shelfs at one time, bring back some of that stuff in plastic instead of resin. I have a feeling alot of them were Johan kits and god knows what happened to all of them. I know that has been discussed here before. How about with some of the Chevys, tooling up new bodies for the other bodies on the same chassis. A sleeper Biscayne would be cool, '58-'60 (Revell), '61(Lindberg). They want to keep raising prices for the same stuff you could buy 5-10 years ago for half the price. That and video games is what is killing the hobby.

Cleared on Sunday, spent about 45 mins. rubbing it out tonight. Next up trim. Used Testors Model Master Lacquer Clear and it darkened to color.

My local hobby shop closed late last year and I have gone to others near by but no one has this stuff. The Treatment MOdeal Wax "The Final Detail". Love this stuff but I need some more. Does anybody know where I can get it online? I came in a 1 oz jar with a yellow label. I looked at MicroMaerk website but the do not have it. Any help would be appericated.

harrypri you and a lot of others. I must admit, it is a very nice car. I get stopped everywhere I go in it. I just cleared it today, will try and finish the replica this week. Will post pics upon completion. Very nice kit. Could have done a few things different though. The rear has a metal axle that runs thru the spindals and diff instead of having axel shafts like the Testors Chargers. Same suspension on the real cars, not sure why Revell chose this way to do it.

Thanks diymirage. The paint is actual touch-up paint that I paid over $20.00 for a 12 oz. can using the paint code on the 1:1. As far as the 1:1 everyone ask me about the color, strips and wheels and they look in amazement when I tell them I ordered it from Dodge the way the sits. Gets a lot of looks.

Since receiving my Revell 09 Challenger, I have worked non-stop on it. I had purchsed paint and decals prior to getting the model kit to build a model of my 1:1. I am going to use Pegasus Torqs with the tires from the AMT Challenger. Here is what I have so far. I am waiting to get some more clear and less humid weather to clear it and then I can finish it. What do you think? My 1:1

Here is a link to her website. They are using some kind of cleaner that was designed for use on bridges, I believe. Seems to be cleaning up but not perfect as one would suspect. Pretty interesting stuff though. http://missbelvedere.com/

I have a 1993 Dodge Dakota Club Cab wit ha 318 from the factory. Runs Great looks better than new. No digital pics of it. Have had it for 11 years. About 2 months ago my special order from Dodge came in. Back in Feb. I went and placed an order for a 2009 Dodge Challenger R/T Classic. I ordered it in B5 Blue. It has '71 inspired strips and 20" Crager mags. It only has the 5.7L Hemi with 371 horse and 401 lbs. torque (which is plenty for the street). It is awesome. I can go out in traffic and almost cause accidents with people turning there heads to get a look. Some people have stopped in on coming traffic to look (and almost get rear ended). No digital pics of these either but here is one just like it.
