  1. I recently bought this kit for $15.I didn't even know it existed.I'll be watching for your posts about your build experience.
  2. Don't laugh about the Remington razor suggestion.I did that on an Acura Integra. It looks good. The only caveat is that it's better for making 2 small grilles rather than one large one because of the fold in the middle of the screen.BTW,one half of a screen looks like it would a perfect insert in the custom grille shell of the AMT '36 Ford.
  3. My dad bought me a Big T for Christmas 1962 and I believe it was either $9.98 or $10.98.I think my Big Deuce bought in 1964 was in the same price range.
  4. Putting them in the sun does work but don't expect miracles. It's been my experience that some, but not all,of the yellowing goes away. This trick does not work on decals that were originally the wrong shade of white anyway(see Tamiya Ligier JS11 and Ferrari 312T3).
  5. Lucky you found a Michaels that still had stock on those. All their stores in this area sold out a while ago.Enjoy the new toy!
  6. I've seen some of the Caprice cop cars advertised for sale on a used car website so they're out there for someone to obtain one privately.
  7. One minor suggestion-shoot some semi gloss or flat clear on the seats. They'll look more realistic.
  8. No kit sightings at the local TRUs here lately.I do recall those blowout prices on the new tool Chevy kit.I also picked up several of the triple pack kits for $9.99.Some of those even had models molded in colors unavailable in the regular runs.
  9. Just saw on MSN that it was announced that Carrol Shelby died yesterday at age 89.
  10. I'm getting a wild hair to do mine in a non standard two tone combination.I'm thinking Honey Cream lower with a Broadway Blue roof-similar to a popular GM 2 tone of the era.
  11. Parnelli Jones drove a Bronco for a couple years and the actor James Garner had a very modified '69 Olds Cutlass.
  12. George-I believe that Prop Shop Hobbies on Van Dyke in Warren might still have a can or two left but it's been a while since I've been there.
  13. You going for Tommy Kendall's ICI Polyurethanes car?
  14. The versions I have are molded in acetate and they haven't warped.Hard to believe, yes, but I looked at them a while ago and they're still straight after 57 years.
  15. Tamiya for rattle cans and their bottled acrylics are good for painting small items but I've only had middling luck trying to airbrush them(could be my prep?).Testors bottle paints can be good for detail painting, the metalizers are very good.Testor's sprays come out too thick no matter the type.
  16. I have 2 sets of those Highway Pioneers, mostly unbuilt in the gift set boxes. One set was given to my Grandfather and one set to my Dad as Christmas gifts in about 1953.
  17. No backs on the slicks?Must be a different version than mine. The kit I have dates to 1970 and what it has are whitewall inserts for the outside of the slicks. That made me wonder if the real car ever ran with those. BTW,the kit body looks sectioned by about 2-3 inches.
  18. At the Bearing Burners show and swap meet I scored the triple AMT kit of Street Machine trucks-the '50 Chevy, the '53 Ford, and the '55 Chevy Cameo. For $5! At a $1.67 per kit,I couldn't pass it up.
  19. To get technical-it could be said that ALL of my model kits are ongoing projects. It's just that not all of them have gone past the "open the box and look at it" stage.
  20. In my collection I have the companion to that Revell Maxwell. It's a 1/16 scale Ford Model T coupe kitted by Revell in the 1950s.It's engineered much like their 1/43 scale antique cars.
  21. Not this time.Maybe in 2015 when I have vacation days coming. For 2013 our club is discussing a pilgrimage to NNL East.
  22. Several years ago I was building a Tamiya Porsche 959.It was time to paint it.My basement is very cool all year so I have a problem when it comes to getting parts warm enough to spray without getting gloss die back.So I came up with the idea of warming the body with a halogen work lamp.BAD IDEA! I left it too near the lamp for too long and ended up with a Porsche that looked like it was styled by Timothy Leary after a bad LSD trip.
  23. Me? I'll try to build anything automotive except the far out show rods. That's my zero interest 4 wheeled subject.I hold even less interest than that to build planes, ships, and military items.
  24. Yeah,I guess i did.The show was well attended and the number of tables rented was up about 10% from last years spring show(The fall show has about 20% more tables than even this one does). My sales total was just under $300.I've done far worse in the past.
