  1. too bad Sasha isnt in 1/16th scale she would be a kool mechcanic for my Promod display.
  2. Wow everyone in this thread look like normal people to me , not at all the geeks people make modellers out to be. humf...
  3. Man Chuck I love it! one of these days im gonna get around to making something RAT!
  4. Im not tottally convienced that these look like deployed chutes and unless I can convince myself of that I wont be using them. What do you think?
  5. I believe Bart pretty much summed up your questions but I will add this Jack. I use alot of differant paints and paint combinations, true i do enjoy and prefer HOK , but I use what it best for the project at hand. for instance. I used auto primer on this project because i could use it on brass as well as all the other materials I used in this build, Of course HOK was my paint of choice for thier brillant colors, and the clear I chose soley because I need a clear that would not flash too hot and ruin my decals, and would still be compatible with the HOK paints. Im by no means an expert on the chemical compounds that make up the paint , but I am a good resercher and Im not affraid to ask a friend or two for thier opion.
  6. Welcome back and welcome aboard! Youve been gone for as long as Ive been building , but this place should get you headed in the right direction, there have been soo many changes in the hobby (for the better). There are many knowlageable builders here if theres anything you need help with just ask and im sure you will recieve more than you asked for.
  7. You can always check out the begging of my promod build I believe I showed how I started my chassis, it is in brass but it will still work for your purposes. Its in my sig line if your interested.
  8. The chute base has already been made (and yes I scratch built them you can find that a few pages back) I just have to open the chute packs back up and run the lines.
  9. I never really know what to say when you post im always in awe of your work , each post is like putting a freashly BBQ'ed steak in front of me all I can do is salivate and crave the next piece. What can I say that hasnt already been said? Oh well maybe nobody has said "GREATGOBBLEDEEGOOP! that build is OUTTASITE!" LOL!
  10. Im sorry Clay I didnt give ya the ol "Welcome Aboard!" Its awesome to add another master builder to the roster here at MCM.
  11. Thanks for the supports fellas. Im glad that part is out of the way, The paint has been on my mind since day 1, because no matter how good the model is built and no matter how much detail you add, If the paint fails the entire model fails. So I should have the build assembled completely within a week or so just finishing touches to add and polish the paint.
  12. Very nice , I get ahead of myself sometimes too. And its a pain to get back to where you need to be .....but usually it works out in the end. Keep up the good work.
  13. Its Dupont Acrylic clear, its exspensive but I feel its worth it!
  14. Very nice start cant wait to see this one forming!!
  15. Ok this is not an illusion , this is not wet paint , this is CANDY BABY!!!! heres a few in reg house light..... All that left to do is polish and wax and the paint is a done deal I hope you enjoyed.........
  16. Ok i got a couple updates for ya tonight. First I thought id show ya the progress on the deployed chutes, then I'll treat ya to some mouth watering candy! I just love candy. with the chute I started out by cutting out two patterns out of facial tissue like this .....both have mulitple layers then each was dipped into water and elmers glue was spread over them. Later the Elmers will dry and from a sort of plastic that will make it easy to paint. once the glue was spead out I picked up the pattern from the center to kinda fold them a bit and hung them on the rear of the body to dry for a couple hours. I used plastic so that they wont stick to the car and I will be able to remove the chute later if I need to. When these dry I will paint and rig them.... note they have been placed so as not to cover any detail.... Be right back with some candy..........
  17. Job well done Brad Im likin this build
  18. You know i tell myself that after every build, but they seem to get better everytime. I only hope the next build turns out better than this one. Thanks for your compliment Bro and I'll see you in AZ.
  19. Good job Richard cant wait to see where this adventure takes you. and I'll be along for the ride!
  20. Thanks fellas for your input on the chutes I have decided to have them deployed , I will make sure that they are arranged in a way as not to subtract from the detail and paint of the car. I feel this is another chance to add more detail to the build. so stay tunned as I venture into this next sub-project.
  21. Im a builder not much of a collector , so on the rare occation that I do buy a kit I only buy what im gonna build right now or next. I believe that as long as a model is in the box its only a box of plastic, but once you assemble those plastic parts it becomes art. My total boxed model count is about 20 and most of those have been scavanged for parts.
  22. Wayne ,Bill & John Thanks for your sincere compliments
