Although chris gave you some good info I'll try to address a couple of the questions he missed. the carbon fiber issue is something I planned to use on this build, it can be done but it will depend on the type of clear you use, Im using Acrylic clear which will allow me to clear over my decals but even I had to make sure so I contacted my buddy Mark Jones and he confirmed that if you do clear over your decals you should apply a dry fine coat first then allow it a few hours curing time before adding anymore clear. so to answer your question: Yes you can do it. I just suggest you do a test run first. It takes HOK 15mins to flash , if youre planning on taping on it I would give it time to cure not just flash which take between 2-3 hours. And as for the pre-mixed HOK I wouldnt know because all I have ever used is the kind you have to mix. -
What's your favorite paint?
Romell R replied to SuperStockAndy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Ive been using HOK (house of Kolor) paints for over 15 years I use them on my 1:1 builds as well as my models, these are true candies and once you learn to mix them correctly theres nothing you cant do. -

Thanks again fellas for your honest opinions I glad you all are enjoying the build. I was able to do a little bit more to the body and add some of the shadowing to the front clip still have some touch ups to do so nothing is complete yet. anyways heres whet I have for today..... I remembered seeing this concept on a computer image of a car and since the rear of my car was the same color I felt it would look good with the grapfic im about to lay down. So I started by drawing and cutting out my mask.... as you can see here I have mask and its negative (the hole in the tape) I'll be using the negative Here the mask is placed on the body , once the body was completely masked I painted this area white then covered that with HOK Intercoat clear Once the white was dry I cut out some strips of 3m tape and made this mask over the white then the whole thing was sprayed with Intercoat clear again. this is to keep paint from bleeding under the thin strips of tape. I let the Intercoat clear flash for 15 mins then I painted the entire area Orian Blue this is what it looks like once the tape is removed....Still need to add shadowing Ok here it is with some of the detailing done , I still have some touch ups to do then its on to wet sanding and clear coat. Cya on the next update I hope you enjoyed -

The resin tires at Flashpoint wont be any good to you because there a more modern tire, and are super wide.

Very Nice I love your paint work! -
I remember the night I broke my hip (actually I broke the top of my left femer off and split my pelvis in the front and rear by almost 2 inches), I fell 5 stories from a balcony. Man that messed my night up! I spent the next 6 months in the house, i was able to keep myself sane by building models. I hope you get better soon.

69 Daytona Pro Mod 1/16th scale updated 4/3/12 ..It's a wrap!
Romell R replied to Romell R's topic in WIP: Drag Racing Models
Ok so heres where were at again..... Now i have to use the negative of the mask i made earlier to cover the ripped area of the new graphic this is so I dont get paint on the folds that im about to paint white. These are the folds after the white has been painted , i still have to paint the shadowing on and a few highlights but this is almost done..... Cya tomarrow..... -

Thanks fellas for the AWESOME!!! compliments LOL! Well I worked on the front end of the car for a few hours tonight , its mostly spray then wait till the paint flashes then untape then retape , then spray then wait 15 mins for the paint to flash gets crazy but i love this man. anyway heres what I have .....enjoy! I wanted to make the paint look like its being ripped away , so to do that I had to make a 3 part mask and apply it to the new paint the mask incorparates the rip , the fold and then theres a negative that I use to cover the rip when Im ready to paint the fold over. once everything was masked up I made a 50/50 mix of HOK Galaxy Grey and Orian Silver because I wanted the color just a tad darker than the original silver I based the body with. you cant really tell in this picture but it looks really nice in the sun. I cut out a bunch of square tape blocks so I can make my next effect .................... I removed a couple of the square patches and mixed some Galaxy Gray its a lil darker than the mixture I made earlier.... Heres what all the masking and painting was all about as you can see I started removing the masking for the folds which are to be painted white but im not done yet..... Be right back.......... -

ok once the base colors are laid down I covered that with HOK Intercoat Clear because I'll be masking and spraying on top of these base colors. The intercoat clear isnt a glossy clear its almost invisable it's just to provide a protection for the paint that already laid down. Cya on the next update......
