Add a little building (or a wall of a bigger one) and you could have a dealer lot there. Charlie Larkin

Very elegant solution to the steering wheel problem, Russ. Charlie Larkin -
Nice work on the chassis, Chris. Sorry I missed this earlier. Charlie Larkin

Major breaking news... I haven't had chance to take pictures, but there is a major development in getting things moving again. Pictures will be up within the next thirty-six hours. Let's just say one of the nicest guys I've met in the hobby came through in a big way. Charlie Larkin

VERY nice job on the letters! Charlie Larkin

It's held up well, that's for sure. Adopting Don LaFontaine voice... "Attack of the giant kitties- things can get pretty hairy!" I had a very interesting conversation with a gentleman from Brazil Friday night at a Masonic function- while we were both being trained to be tour guides for our Grand Lodge's building. Apparently, Florian, the namesake of your state, was not a very nice man at all, as my companion referred to him several times in one sentence as "a butcher." I learned quite a bit about Brazilian history and life there today, in the space of about twenty minutes. Charlie Larkin

Nice job on this so far. I might grab one of these- looks like a nice kit when built. Charlie Larkin

*rimshot* $42.97 for the kit? That's very reasonable compared to street price here. Charlie Larkin

Nice work, needs to be a little dirtier to be believable, though. Try a wash of thinned India ink on the wooden stairs and on the floor. Don't go crazy, just enough to add some depth of color. India ink can be thinned with alcohol. The walls can be grimed up a little with India ink and/or some thinned acrylic or oil paint in various shades of brown and gray. Charlie Larkin

As an idea, perhaps you could put up a small storage shed (around $500-1200 at the HDs/Lowe's/Wal-Marts and some independent hardware stores,) and perhaps put a small a/c into it. I would suggest running some insulation into the shed, though, to help maintain the temperature. The wooden sheds might be a little easier to do this with than the metal ones. One of the reasons I don't want to go to the south- I'd miss the extra storage. Charlie Larkin

Let's see... Cape Cod got pounded last week...good, they can have it. We got nothing, not even rain. This morning was ice/sleet all over EMass, enough so that a lot of the schools in the towns near the New Hampshire border or in hilly areas delayed opening to sand- no closures I saw, though. And tomorrow will be low-mid 50s and dry. Followed by more 40s. This is spring? Charlie Larkin

Paint types - Question
charlie8575 replied to Mizozuman2's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Tamiya clear MIGHT be okay. It can be rather hot, and can even bother lacquers. I'd try a little on some sprue first to see what happens. If that's TS-13 clear in the spray can, treat it like gold. That stuff is next to impossible to get in the U.S. anymore due to some bureaucrat. Charlie Larkin -
Sounds like Dad and I last week. He got whammied, I just felt lousy for about eighteen hours, but the "side-effects" made me very sore for about two or three days. Charlie Larkin

Microsoft ending XP support on April 8

So far, I'm finding Win8 itself works fine. I simply do not like the user interface, hence Classic Shell. I figured for the price, might as well give it a shot. Charlie -
I have one of these that stalled due to some paint problems- I'll probably get back to it sometime this year. It's a very nice kit that builds up into a very credible model when it's done. Keep going- you're doing fine. Charlie Larkin

Microsoft ending XP support on April 8

I just ended up with a new laptop, with Win8. I didn't like it either, until I installed Classic Shell, which makes 8 look and act like XP-Win7. I've haven't had the shell installed for 24 hours and I love it. The computer otherwise, is very nice- Dell, well-made, fast, and works tons better than any of the HP/Compaq computers I've had. I'll let Dad know- the desktop is XP, and this could become a problem in short order. Charlie Larkin -
I had a week that didn't irk me, but saddened me. Three good friends of mine in lodge all died within a couple of days of each other- two less than three hours apart. My father was also friends with two of them and reasonably well-acquainted with the third. Then, my father found out a former office-mate of his, who retired last year, died Wednesday from brain cancer. What a week....I just keep telling myself that this week, almost by default, has to be an improvement. Charlie Larkin

I missed this one, too, and my dad works at the VA! I wonder if he's aware of this? To all Vietnam Veterans- I'm a little too young to have seen what you went through (I was born in August of '75,) but I've known so many veterans of this conflict that I understand what you've gone through, and to still see some of my own generation (and younger) harboring ill will towards our armed services makes me want to react in a very negative manner towards those specific individuals. I remember when I was in second grade, and my school got its POW-MIA flag. It was a beautiful spring day in 1983 and a group of Vietnam veterans came, and explained to us bunch of little kids what the flag was about and why it was important. None of my friends got it, but I, growing up in a family that had a long history of military service (Dad couldn't due to severe allergies and I have some limitations that would mark me 4-F,) so I got it every almost every word they said about men who never came home and why it was important to remember. Thank you to all of you. We must never forget to be grateful to those who sign on to protect our liberties, from all enemies, foreign and domestic. Charlie Larkin
