Revell Customer Service

Yes, they do, Bill. And they look GREAT. Charlie Larkin -
Title pretty much says it all. I'm thinking BMF, followed by a light burnishing with 5-aught steel wool to knock the shine down, followed by one of those little fibreglass brush thingies you use for knocking rust out of scratches on 1:1 cars prior to applying touch-up paint. Anyone else have any other ideas? Charlie Larkin

I use whatever I can get the color I need/want in. The MM Acryls are decent paints, as are the enamels, they just tend to dry rather slowly. That can be sped up a little with a blow-dryer or a food dehydrator. As a note, the engine in that Chevelle should be orange, I think. Chevy only used red engines for a couple of years and in a couple of applications. All 1956 V8s should be red, and I think there were a few years the 6s were red instead of orange or blue. Sounds like the morons my father has for the mortgage. After two years of "okay, we'll fix your mortgage" because he was getting screwed, they're finally (supposedly) sending the forms. No matter, if I have my way, we'll be out of this house in the next year or two anyway. My folks can head back to Greater Boston, I can either head out to WMass, New Hampshire or, maybe, if I can find the right deal, stay in Central Mass, with a NH escape hatch. Charlie Larkin

John, that looks like a great place to work, and I hope it lives up to the hopes you have for it. Best wishes to you on this very exciting turn of events. Charlie Larkin

Getting rid of tv programming tired of reality tv
charlie8575 replied to bobthehobbyguy's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
MTV....something I never got into. I got plenty of odd looks during my childhood/teen years. Sorry, folks, I don't consider screaming music. I used to like VH-1, but it seems they got rid of all the good classic acts and AAC and now it's all junk, too. Charlie Larkin -
Great way to use a few leftovers. Nicely done. Charlie Larkin

Looking good already. Another work of art on its way. Charlie Larkin

For Bugatti Atlantic fans

Most interesting. Thinking back, I think I remember having something about that being mentioned during one of my failed attempts at learning how to weld (I could never get the hang of seeing what I was doing with the tinted glass.) I can see where that would be a problem for aircraft, or anything else that requires high strength. I can also see where it might be a concern for racing wheels, but not as much for street wheels- much less stress. It also explains in part, I would think, why stainless wires became popular- eliminates the problem altogether and still look nice and shiny when polished out. Charlie Larkin -
Getting rid of tv programming tired of reality tv

I found there are some really good dramas on cable-only stations. I love Major Crimes and The Closer, I also enjoy Perception and Southland. I also like The Glades and Longmire. Where I live, the digital antenna doesn't work. We're behind a hill, and the digital signal doesn't like hills, so we had to get cable when they switched over. At least I can watch Looney Tunes and a few other things, too. And MeTV, which is also broadcast, has most of my TV time. Charlie Larkin -
Sounds like an interesting job, John. We're all waiting for details and wish you well. Charlie Larkin

Has anyone bought Girl Scout Cookies lately..?
charlie8575 replied to Ramfins59's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Where's your troops getting their scoutmistresses (I dunno...what's their title?) from? Here, most of the Girl Scout mothers make the frumpy old fraus that advise the Rainbow assemblies, both now, and when I was a kid in DeMolay, look desirable. Charlie Larkin -

Very interesting, John. Looking at the map you provided, isn't the LAFD station there the real Station 51, as I remember reading somewhere it's actually in Commerce? Charlie Larkin -

charlie8575 replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Can I ask a slightly off-topic, potentially dumb question? How does chroming wires make them brittle? And does it have a similar effect on other metals (e.g., bumpers, door handles, etc.?) I only took one semester of metals, and it was fab, I didn't get into metallurgy, which kinda stinks, I'd like to know a little more about it. Charlie Larkin I think it looks nice with the wires. To me, the disc wheels never fit the design of the car well. Charlie Larkin -
Love it. A roadsters are one of my favorites. I love being on the road about early-mid April, and I watch for Minuteman Model A Club to have their spring crank-up. A parade of Model As going down the road is always such a cheering sight. Charlie Larkin

Very nice job. Charlie Larkin

Looks very much like the cars in the parking lot when I was in high school- a LOT of my friends had Camaros. Nice job depicting what a typical early-mid-90s teenager would've been driving. Charlie Larkin

1959 Dodge - My "Tunaboat" Replica - FINISHED

Nice job, Rich. Definitely an end result to be proud of. Charlie Larkin -
Gotta agree with Harry, next to the first-generation Javelin/AMX and the 1965-66 Ambassador, I think that's the best-looking car AMC ever came up with. Nice work on that, Al. Charlie Larkin

Black has been very common lately. Not a bad thing, especially with end results like this. Charlie Larkin

Interesting- lacquer directly on bare plastic with no ill effects? Hmmm...I might try a little for an experiment. Certainly able to be seen from a distance, that's for sure. And another one of your nice, clean, exemplary builds. Charlie Larkin

charlie8575 replied to Porscheman's topic in Model Cars
Yeah, tell me about it. I'd be happy with a week at normal temperatures instead of 6-8 degrees below. Al- another beauty. Charlie Larkin -
What a rare treat! The '60 Mercs are a nice-looking car. Great resto. Charlie Larkin
