  1. That's a nice job, Mike. As pointed out earlier, it's actually a very nice combination of old and new-style Mopar. Charlie Larkin
  2. The last coat of primer is on the 300. The firewall is downstairs awaiting paint. Hopefully this time with a paint can that doesn't have a defective nozzle! I also have the Model T I've been poking at stripped. Lastly, the interior of the 300 had a primer job go bad. The white primer I applied came out in a manner similar to Spackle and it didn't cover well to boot. Let's see what we can do tomorrow, as it supposed to be a bit drier. Charlie Larkin
  3. That did come out nicely. I think the Hurst/Olds was one of the classiest-looking decor options. Charlie Larkin
  4. Very nice, Al. A friend of ours used to own a Cord sedan. I don't remember if it was a Westchester or a Beverly, but I remember being a nice car. Charlie Larkin
  5. The model railroaders will not be a happy group, and I can say that with relative certainty. But, a lot of other modelers used Floquil and Polly S for their range of colors that were useful for other applications. If Testors does not make any effort to integrate these colors into their other lines, they're going to be met with a very ugly surprise. Worst-case, anyone here interested in going in with me on a paint company? I'm being quite serious. Charlie Larkin
  6. News, good news! Charlie Larkin
  7. That is pretty cool, Sam. I've considered getting a "shop trike" because I've never been able to stay up on a bicycle and would like to not only get a little exercise, but not have to use the car all the time, at least in nice weather, to go run small errands and such. Charlie Larkin
  8. Post of the day! That does rather say it all, doesn't it? Charlie Larkin
  9. That interior is killer. If the rest is even half as good, you'll have a first place winner. Charlie Larkin
  10. Looks good. I take it the finish is to suggest a smooth-finish stucco building as opposed to porcelain tiles and/or concrete block? Charlie Larkin
  11. Is that supposed to be something like a concrete wall surrounding a dirt lot? I ask because the picture isn't clear enough to really say. It might be a good idea to add details to make it look more like that rather than a corrugated box. I like the truck itself. Charlie Larkin
  12. Nice color combination. Nice build, too. Charlie Larkin
  13. This is coming out very nicely. Charlie Larkin
  14. Remember, Mike, t'a'int over 'til the last part is on. Speaking of which...where did the gas pedal go for that thing? It seems to have disappeared unless they simply missed it somehow. Charlie Larkin
  15. You have cause to be excited. This is a very nice. Do stop in at a MassCar meeting sometime. We'd love to have you join us. There are no dues and a lot of fun. Charlie Larkin
  16. Oh, it has, trust me. It's no great secret that I've very seriously considered started my own model production, and for fit-and overall design, the 300 is rapidly becoming the benchmark. Charlie Larkin
  17. I like this very much. I was planning on doing mine in black/gold, because I really like that combination, but this looks great. Charlie Larkin
  18. Ironcially, the woodgrained plastic wheel would be more realistic because that's what the real ones were. That dashboard is outstanding. Would you be willing to come to MassCar sometime for a demonstration on how to use a mini-lathe? Very, very nice work. Charlie Larkin
  19. Some dry-fitting of the chassis. I got an assembly sequence out of order, so it might require a little jiggery-poke to get the the exhaust pipes in, but this is still going to work well and have a great looking assembly when it's all done. I plan on installing the driveshaft and finalizing most of the other assemblies this afternoon. Charlie Larkin
  20. Didn't see anything come up today, and I didn't have a chance to do this until a little after midnight, but here's what I've spent most of the week poking at. The Moebius '55 Chrysler 300 is fantastic. I've only had a couple of little hiccups with this kit, but it's been a sheer joy to build. The engine is really a model in and of itself. The wheels are blackwashed very lightly. One of the easiest-to-assemble frames I've ever dealt with. Charlie Larkin
  21. It never ceases to amaze me how many differences there are in one model year of Volks to the next. This is another nice build, Mike. I'll enjoy watching this come together. Charlie Larkin
  22. Clayton, the car I ran into was a 1929 Model J (no blower) with an all-aluminum Murphy body. As near as I can tell, that was the original body. Except for the fenders, which are painted silver, all the other shiny areas on the maroon body are polished aluminum. The edges of the vents on the hood are aluminum. Up close, they look like chrome. Absolutely stunning. Mr. Fafard, the man that owned the car said it drives a bit like a medium-duty truck. Boy, what a truck to drive! If I hit that $600 million jackpot tonight, I think I'm getting one just because. Charlie Larkin
  23. Amazing. Charlie Larkin
  24. Very nice, Mike. Definitely a nice addition to your shelf. Charlie Larkin
