  1. Going by the 1958-59 Chevies (and other GM cars, which mostly used the same white, except perhaps Cadillac), the white should be ever so slightly off-white, and may look more cream/ivory in color before drying. Scale Finishes and MCW use their respective paint manufacturer's mixing formulae (Dave at MCW uses PPG lacquer, Scale Finishes uses whoever makes their paint, I believe Jameson uses Sherwin-Williams, but I'm not sure). While the codes and final results might vary slightly, all the samples, regardless of paint type or manufacturer, should be probably within about a shade of each other. Charlie Larkin
  2. I was always a little disappointed that Hudson didn't build a pickup on the Step-Down chassis. The proposals I saw were very nice-looking. Same with the wagons- looked similar to a Packard, but a little better-proportioned. Great execution, Curt. Charlie Larkin
  3. Very, very nice job on that. It's nice to see something that's not orange, red, or black. Charlie Larkin
  4. Those are cool. And very nice, appropriate colors, too. Charlie Larkin
  5. That color looks right at home on a Nova. I seem to remember seeing a bronze-brown very similar to that in the paint chips. Nice color, and nicely-executed model. Charlie Larkin
  6. Very nice work, Al. Red and black both look good on those. Charlie Larkin
  7. Beautifully done. The flavor is definitely captured in this model. This is one car I would LOVE to see in styrene. Charlie Larkin
  8. From what I've read, either/or have been problematic with fit, so yes, that would be the parts. Charlie Larkin
  9. Very nice, did you have problems with the front-clip fit, and if so, what did you do to correct it? Charlie Larkin
  10. If the paint had either a very base or very acidic composition, I could see that happening, as both extremes will affect aluminum (which is why SuperClean will dissolve aluminum- it's a lye-like solution, which is alkali (base)). Another solution I've found for foiling is to purchase MicroScale foil adhesive and use thin, cheap aluminum foil. While not as thin as BMF, it's nowhere near as fragile and works well for long strips like side-spears.Using this method, you can also make good paint masks, as the foil, burnished properly, seals the adjacent areas well. Just be sure to not let it sit too long on the model. Charlie Larkin
  11. MeTV rocks; about 50-60% of my viewing is that. There's another network I've watched a couple of times called COZI, which does a lot of 1970s-80s shows, too. Either one is a big improvement over most of the overly-formulaic, brain-dead, tawdry garbage now called TV. Charlie Larkin
  12. Hmm...November is fast approaching. And that black on black with the red stripe on the box art looks good. Charlie Larkin
  13. Nice job on those headers, indeed, Wayne. I've been doing Tamiya Gunmetal (acrylic bottle) with some Model Master Acryl Rust more-or-less dry-brushed on (just a hair more paint than dry-brushing), and they look like fairly new exhaust manifolds. This kit seems like a real mixed bag- I'm very reluctant to get one because of that roof, but from what I've seen, it does build up nicely otherwise. Charlie Larkin
  14. Looking good, Chris. That silver/black pattern decal looks surprisingly good with a beige interior, and will go well with the red. It's nice to have a wife (or girlfriend) that actually encourages building. I might end up with one of those myself, someday. Charlie Larkin
  15. That looks great, Al. Toreador Red isn't quite Madeira Maroon- same basic color family, but it's a great color for that car, I agree. Charlie Larkin
  16. Actually, AMC had finally gone to open drive by 1967 for most of the cars. I think Rambler Americans kept torque-tube to the end, but I'm not sure. I'd go with a blue interior for that. The blue AMC had was a dark, bright blue. Testors Sea Blue with a couple of drops of white will get you in the ballpark. Nice build so far. Charlie Larkin
  17. All I can say is stick to it, Lee! *rimshot* Charlie Larkin
  18. We seriously need some new veteran kits, or for these existing tools to get re-popped. Or both. I'd be happy with both, will take either/or. Charlie Larkin
  19. Very nice, Carl. I like your solution to the speed strips, too. Charlie Larkin
  20. Looks nice, Bruce. Mine will be black once it gets re-painted. Charlie Larkin
  21. Superb! I'm seriously tempted to print this thread out and send it to General Motors. This needs to get into production some way, some how! Charlie Larkin
  22. This will be interesting to watch. And with you building it, I know it will be done nicely. Charlie Larkin
  23. Very nice start. Charlie Larkin
  24. Okay, so it's a little after the weekend, but while the Chrysler is stripping off (and probably about ready now), I've been poking at my Revell 1950 Olds. Not a bad kit overall. It will definitely look nice when it's put together. The engine is almost ready for decaling The lettering on the chassis was supposed to be gone. It is now! One more coat of primer, and this time, perhaps I'll use flat black instead of semi-gloss black. Oops. Charlie Larkin
  25. I think I have all of those on hand, too. I'll try that on a piece of scrap and see what it does. Thanks, Lee. Charlie Larkin
