AMT Future Releases
charlie8575 replied to slusher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
A lot of the 1960s molds were junked in the 1970s when scrap metal went into orbit. And a lot of bad ideas, bad maintenance and bad molding practices have wrecked a lot of the survivors. I'd be very happy to see a lot of these re-issued though. I wonder if any cataloging of what AMT/MPC has been made and would be available? If not, it might be a good idea to do it and then some choices can be made by the buyers as to what they would like to see re-issued. Charlie Larkin -
Model display and shelving

Due to lack of finished builds, this provides little difficulty for me. Due to lack of space, even if more builds were finished, most of them would probably be living in their boxes for now. When I do have something, I use Jo-Han Sho-Cases, and would love to see those come back. Hands-down the best display case ever made. I go looking for them. At some point, I plan on building a nice china cupboard-type cabinet and loading it with small dioramas, plus a few bigger ones to be displayed in the house as appropriate and reasonable. FREE issue of MCM
charlie8575 replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Soon as I'm back to work, I'm planning on re-subscribing. I've been so broke, I can't even buy the magazine periodically (oops...sorry for the pun.) I do like MCM, though, and think it's one of the best magazines in modeling. Charlie Larkin -
I had this HORRIBLE NIGHTMARE . . .
charlie8575 replied to Danno's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Sounds like you've been commuting around Greater Boston a bit, Bruce. Silver and grey blobs with occasional colors that defy description and definite classification as one or another. Well...in their defense, at least the other monstrosities come in an assortment of colors....some not bad, some bizarre, and some not bad except for the bizarre combinations! Charlie Larkin -

That wouldn't be a nightmare, that would be a dream come true! Charlie Larkin -
Your thoughts and prayers please

The only small victory that you can take from this is that the shooter saw fit to eliminate himself as a future potential problem. While I know that that is of little comfort to you now, he, through his own actions, saved another family from his insanity or stupidity, whichever the facts of the case prove out to be. Words escape me; your family will be at the front of my thoughts and intercessions. Charlie Larkin -
I had this HORRIBLE NIGHTMARE . . .

Huh? Oh....as to that traffic jam, for me it would be a rolling parking lot of donks and low-riders with all their stereos turned up to maximum and I couldn't get the windows in my car up. Charlie Larkin -

This might be the incentive I needed to get an iPod (God, I learned to absolutely HATE those infernal, wretched things when I was teaching high school!) Charlie Larkin -
Ech.........the humidity is killing me
charlie8575 replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That explains why it's so green there.... Definitely one place I want to visit someday. I've been told my family has a castle or something there. It would be pretty cool if I could put a claim in on it. Hey, if nothing else, if things really fall apart in the U.S., I'd have a fall-back place to live. And all the steak-and-kidney pie I want. charlie8575 replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This summer hasn't been too bad. Not super-super hot, not too humid excpet the last couple of weeks, although we did have an abatement for a couple of days. I don't envy the midwest at all. My parents have considered retiring to Las Cruces or Las Vegas for years, they may do it in the next couple of years. Charlie Larkin -
Hey mister........

This, sadly, is another illustration of how we, through over-standardization and poor child-rearing practices, have managed to breed every last bit of imagination and thought out of most of our youth. While I can hope (?) that this was simply a case of snarky 8th-grader striking, I fear, based on professional experiences and doing some volunteer work with youth in De Molay and Rainbow, that this young man was far too representative of the broad cross-section of today's junior/senior high school kid. We're in trouble. Charlie Larkin -

It must think it's a cat. If it starts coughing up hairballs, I'd take it to a pet shrink! Charlie Larkin -
Very nice. I like the color scheme. Charlie Larkin

Wonder how the plastic works with that wood/cotton-fibre composite body? Cool. Charlie Larkin

I would like to get one of those and build a stock Olds truck, which were being built in the late Teens and early 1920s. This is a unique idea and nicely done. Charlie Larkin

"Victoria" was the term Ford used for hardtops. The Club Victoria was a 2-door, the Town Victoria was a 4-door. Nicely-done conversion, Bruce. Hendrix was making a resin conversion, but I think the master developed problems. Charlie Larkin

Never heard of this movie, I'll have to check it out. Nice build on the model. Charlie Larkin

Another beauty. What did you use for the chassis? I can't see that goofy lowrider chassis being made to look that good for love nor money. Charlie Larkin

VERY nice! Revell '77 with modified nose/tail on the AMT '70 chassis? Original MPC or AMT kit? Scratchbuilt? Inquiring (and plagerizing ) minds want to know! Charlie Larkin

How else could I get an original-issue Jo-Han 1960 DeSoto Adventurer (curbside, no less,) in its original box for under $100? Needs to be restored, but that's cool with me. Plans are a nice two-tone blue and make it look like a car I might have ordered myself. Charlie Larkin -
