  1. I can see the Chrysler influence in the Simca. Speaking of which, I do like the idea of those two Fuselage-body cars. I always thought that Monaco with the hidden headlights was a pretty neat design. If only the model companies would listen. Charlie Larkin
  2. Before I was forced to move home, I did a lot of late-night building. I don't always sleep well and having only very basic cable (not much better than broadcast, but I had no signal without a box,) there wasn't a lot on, so sometimes, I'd turn on the radio and do some kind of basic assembly or large-area painting. I knew I was usually too tired to do detail painting, and didn't want to disturb or upset the neighbors with too much spray-painting. Since moving back home, I might do some dry-fitting, perhaps a little painting, but I do very little gluing or heavy assembly, or I'll have to listen to it with "why do I smell glue?," etc. Worst case, I've actually considered picking up a small camping trailer so I have someplace with some piece and quiet to go build/sit/read/whatever in peace and quiet. Charlie Larkin
  3. Nice job on the candyapple red. I like the cream-color roof on it, too. Looking forward to seeing more. Charlie Larkin
  4. Please! Hang the postage cost from Austrailia, I WILL buy one of these! Suggestion for us foreign purchasers (and your own countrymen,) if you do this: enclose a colour and interior chart so we make correct replicas and do such wonderful master-building justice. Charlie Larkin
  5. This is one of the most incredible projects I've ever encountered. Charlie Larkin
  6. Open headers in Massachusetts would result in so many tickets so fast, you wouldn't know what hit you! The local constabulary would insist on at minimum a short exhaust pipe and some type of muffler. Aww...who cares, it's a model, and the real world MV laws don't have to apply. Very nice job and a neat concept. Charlie Larkin
  7. Hudson had very seriously considered building a wagon on the Stepdown chassis, but never did it due to projected low demand, as the 1941-47 wagons weren't very big sellers. The pictures I've seen reminded me of the 1948-50 Packard wagon with a small area of the body made of wood and the rest of it on the upside-down bathtub body with an elongated roof. Had Hudson decided to produce the wagon as an all-steel car, I suspect very strongly that it would have looked very similar to this. This is one of the most creative, well-done builds I've seen in a very long time. And the details are sparkling little gems. GREAT job! I'm only sorry I didn't see this sooner. Charlie Larkin
  8. That's a nice-looking Pony, The DeJa Blue reminds me a of a darker shade of Acapulco Blue. The wheel choice is good, too. Charlie Larkin
  9. She's doing an upper-torso chicken dance? Charlie Larkin
  10. That does rather say it all, doesn't it? Either way, I'm salivating for that '50 Olds and the '57 Ford. Charlie Larkin
  11. I really like how this came out. Yet more resin to buy... Question: did you remove the catalytic converter from the Olds chassis prior to casting it? Not a huge issue if no, but it would save a couple hours of grinding and filling. Charlie Larkin
  12. Nice 1:1, and nice models. Alan- if you pick up one of those 4-door sedans, it's not too tough to remove the pillars and door frames, and will probably be a far sight easier than trying to de-warp 50-year-old acetate. Or, as there appears to be a chance a Town Victoria is coming, wait and see. I'd suspect it'll be through Resin Realm. I've bought from them before and they're great to deal with. Charlie Larkin
  13. Neat roll-back. I liked the late '20s Buick. Somebody started making that in resin or styrene, darn tootin' I'd buy one. That being the truck or the Buick. Charlie Larkin
  14. I wish I knew. Unless there has been a misunderstanding communicated to me, or there was some type of a policy change. A little more investigation is in order. I'm rather surprised about the new Goodyear tires- they, by far, again, from what I have been told, are nearly impossible to deal with and very, very expensive to get licensing from. I suppose they have to keep the blimps inflated... Charlie Larkin
  15. Actually, from those in the know, Firestone doesn't charge any royalties. They only ask to review what you're making before approving it. They're also very good with helping you design the tire for the model from what I've been told. Charlie Larkin
  16. I remember on the bench-seat car, there was a problem with the lettering on the tail-panel- it was either missing or done incorrectly. Is there a cure for the problem? Sounds like a very nice kit otherwise. I would like to see Revell correct that most, as that seems to be the biggest fly in the ointment. Charlie Larkin
  17. Very nicely done, Skip. Charlie Larkin
  18. At least it'll be easy on gas. Not so easy on you getting in and out... Charlie Larkin
  19. Mike, MassCar has had experience with the Make-n-Take program. Essentially, you agree to buy whole cases (12/case,) and it's usually at cost, or pay for shipping, it depends on what program they're running right now. I believe Make-n-Take is handled directly by Revell, so you would need to contact them. Generally, it's been well-received by our show attendees and seems to get good results. If cost is an issue, see if any of the clubs (model or real car) in your area might be willing to help underwrite it. I'll bet that other organizations (Elks, Moose, Eagles, KofC, Masons, etc.,) would be able to help underwrite it, too. Talk to folks in town and see what you can come up with. This is a great idea and please do keep us posted. Charlie Larkin
  20. Actually, the extreme rake is kinda cool. I like the color, too. Charlie Larkin
  21. Very nice, Mark. Be sure to bring to MassCar's show next year. Or why wait? We'll be meeting this Wednesday (July 18,) at 7:00 at 150 Rustcraft Rd., Dedham. All are welcome. Theme for the in-house contest this month is red, white and blue cars. Charlie Larkin
  22. Best comment so far, and somewhat along the lines of what I was thinking. I was also wondering if that handicapped plate might have something to do, but decided that would simply be too cruel (to other handicapped people) to go there. Charlie Larkin
  23. Nope, I'm in still in Massachusetts. We get 1-2 weeks of this per summer usually, although there have been a few where it's been like that for weeks on end. Charlie Larkin
  24. We're starting a stretch of 90-ish+ and plenty of humidity. Between the heat and a horrible sinus headache I've had the last day or so, I've been sleeping a lot today. I'm watching the weather now, and it's going to be warm, humid and generally not fun at all tonight, with some isolated thunderstorms over the weekend. Looking forward to fall. Charlie
  25. Very well done. The details are very nicely done, and the car certainly does have that "been around the block a few times" look down quite well. Charlie Larkin
