The Polar Lights NASCAR kits are a bit demanding to build as they are a bit crude to say the least and they needs lots of work to look good, so I would not recommend going for a Polar Lights NASCAR kit if you're not an experienced builder. But they did model kits of cool subjects, that you can't take away from them.

As you probably know Ford had two 351 engines, 351 Windsor and the 351 Cleveland, they are quite different and have nothing in common except for the displacement...and they raced the Cleveland in Pro Stock at the time. 351 Cleveland engines are not that common in model kits but there are a few, but as you are doing a Pro Stocker the Futurattraction resin engine has all you need, and Scott has quality products.

As far as I know NHRA run the full 1/4 mile in National Events, except in Top Fuel and Funny Car wich run 1000 feet after Scott Kalitta's fatal crash at Englishtown NJ 10 years ago. NHRA have been trying to slow the nitro cars down since then and going to 1000 feet worked for a while, but now 10 years later they run just as fast or even faster in 1000 feet (336.57 mph for TF and 339.87 mph for FC) than they were doing in 1320 feet back in the day (337.58 mph for TF and 334.32 mph for FC), so NHRA has changed the way they prep the tracks and use a lot less traction compound on the tracks now, as of this year they have also mandated a rpm limit of 7900 for both nitro classes using a timing retarder and some other stuff to try to slow the cars down...good or bad...well I don't know...but if you don't do anything it will get out of hand pretty quick. -

Here is an article on Beswick's Comet from June 1965 Super Stock Magazine I had saved in my files for future reference. -
I met Albert together with one of his friends (unfortunately I did not catch his name) at the Long Beach Hi-Perf Swap Meet back in November 2009, I thought I recognized him from photos I had seen on the Spotlight Hobbies Board and introduced myself and asked if I was right, I sure was and we shook hands and strolled together at the swap meet for quite a while, and talked as if we had been friends for a long time. He will surely be missed, goodbye my friend. This picture is borrowed from Albert's albums, his friend took the photo of us that day.

Well, they are not perfect. -
Yes, the White Lightning "Pro/Street" Firebird kit had gold plated parts and I just saw a cheaper one for $69.99 on ebay, but there were also gold plated parts in the Mean & Nasty Pro/Street Camaro kit and the Red Hot Pro/Street Thunderbird, not much "street" over these kits as they were the same kits as the earlier Pro Stock kits but without the sponsor decals...they even have slicks. It's funny tho', Revell/Monogram never did a Pro Stock kit with the 1982-90 body, it was only issued as this White Lightning kit, only the later 1991-92 and the even later 1993-2002 Firebird body were done as Pro Stocks.

Chassis Warp on TWO Revell Kits
Force replied to Matt_Chernisky454's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
It's a little late for you in this case but if you turn the chassis upside down and lay it on a flat surface before you start anything you would easily see if it's warped, and if it is, you can try to twist it back to shape under hot water or a heat gun as Bill says. -

Well the spark plug tubes are at the same place right beside the intake valves in both heads, but the valve covers are longer than the heads and go out over the large timing cover at the front and that makes it look asymmetrical. If you take the passenger side head and put it on the drivers side cylinders...that can of course not be done due to the cam drive wich goes out at the front of each head and would be pointing backwards if you change sides...but if it could be the spark plugs would be at exactly the same place as they are now. -

Cool, that's a must have. Hopefully they did the SOHC valve covers correct on this one...because the spark plug placement is off on most of the ones made so far. Here is how it should look. -
Nice!!

The future of Motorsports ?
Force replied to Mike 1017's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Yes it certainly is, but just because you can doesn't mean you should, the technology is there but it still doesn't make it right. I don't believe in the "self driving car" either...if you don't want to drive yourself...well, take a bus or a taxi. -
Singles on the drives is not that common over here in Europe, just wider steer wheels and on trailers, I have only seen singles on the drives on trucks in the US.

If that's the future I hope I'm dead before it happens...I don't even like electric car racing like Formula E. Real race cars has drivers and internal combustion engines. -
If you have dual mount and blow a tire on the rear you can still continue slowly to a rest area or safe place without damaging the rim...it's a little hard with super singles and you will most likely ending up having to buy both a new rim as well as a new tire. Here is an example of a Swedish Volvo FH 16 750hp 6X4 tractor with 385/65 R22.5 steer wheels, that type of steer wheel are very common over here on both highway trucks, log trucks and heavy duty trucks.

Interesting, I didn't know that. -
Well I was thinking of the steering wheel set in the upcoming Moebius tractor set. Over here many trucks has 385/65 R22.5, they may be "high floatation" and many construction trucks use them, but they are also in use on highway trucks as they run cooler and lasts longer, these don't have aggressive tread patterns. The 385 steer tires also often have a ridge on the side near the thread surface to throw the water off and out and it will keep the side of the trucks cleaner.
