  1. Well, they are not perfect.
  2. Yes, the White Lightning "Pro/Street" Firebird kit had gold plated parts and I just saw a cheaper one for $69.99 on ebay, but there were also gold plated parts in the Mean & Nasty Pro/Street Camaro kit and the Red Hot Pro/Street Thunderbird, not much "street" over these kits as they were the same kits as the earlier Pro Stock kits but without the sponsor decals...they even have slicks. It's funny tho', Revell/Monogram never did a Pro Stock kit with the 1982-90 body, it was only issued as this White Lightning kit, only the later 1991-92 and the even later 1993-2002 Firebird body were done as Pro Stocks.
  3. It's a little late for you in this case but if you turn the chassis upside down and lay it on a flat surface before you start anything you would easily see if it's warped, and if it is, you can try to twist it back to shape under hot water or a heat gun as Bill says.
  4. Conversational...you mean Conventional. Nice build for a first one.
  5. Looks fairly right and better than most, it would have been nice with the Ford 427 SOHC ingraving tho'.
  6. Well the spark plug tubes are at the same place right beside the intake valves in both heads, but the valve covers are longer than the heads and go out over the large timing cover at the front and that makes it look asymmetrical. If you take the passenger side head and put it on the drivers side cylinders...that can of course not be done due to the cam drive wich goes out at the front of each head and would be pointing backwards if you change sides...but if it could be the spark plugs would be at exactly the same place as they are now.
  7. Cool, that's a must have. Hopefully they did the SOHC valve covers correct on this one...because the spark plug placement is off on most of the ones made so far. Here is how it should look.
  8. Yes it certainly is, but just because you can doesn't mean you should, the technology is there but it still doesn't make it right. I don't believe in the "self driving car" either...if you don't want to drive yourself...well, take a bus or a taxi.
  9. Singles on the drives is not that common over here in Europe, just wider steer wheels and on trailers, I have only seen singles on the drives on trucks in the US.
  10. If that's the future I hope I'm dead before it happens...I don't even like electric car racing like Formula E. Real race cars has drivers and internal combustion engines.
  11. If you have dual mount and blow a tire on the rear you can still continue slowly to a rest area or safe place without damaging the rim...it's a little hard with super singles and you will most likely ending up having to buy both a new rim as well as a new tire. Here is an example of a Swedish Volvo FH 16 750hp 6X4 tractor with 385/65 R22.5 steer wheels, that type of steer wheel are very common over here on both highway trucks, log trucks and heavy duty trucks.
  12. Interesting, I didn't know that.
  13. Well I was thinking of the steering wheel set in the upcoming Moebius tractor set. Over here many trucks has 385/65 R22.5, they may be "high floatation" and many construction trucks use them, but they are also in use on highway trucks as they run cooler and lasts longer, these don't have aggressive tread patterns. The 385 steer tires also often have a ridge on the side near the thread surface to throw the water off and out and it will keep the side of the trucks cleaner.
  14. I will probably buy a set or two, I do not really like the look of singles on the drives as I prefer dual mounts, but it looks cool at the front.
  15. Yes the tread on the drive tires are aggressive on the season 1 trucks...they are probably quite noisy on the highway. The drive tires on the ERTL Paystar...looks more like military tires and are a bit too aggressive and rounded if you ask me. Here is one version of Double Take Replicas drive tires (drive tire #1), they are very close to the ones used on the TV truck (picture borrowed from the Double Take website). The fronts on the season 1 trucks, the tread on the MPC/ERTL 11.00-20 tires are very similar to these. The drive tires on the trucks in season 2 has a smoother tread (the best picture I could find of them).
  16. Modeltruckin has them. http://www.modeltruckin.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=2_144&products_id=788
  17. It doesn't look like the real TV-series trucks had any front brakes as you see daylight through the holes in the front wheels in several scenes, and that was not unusual at the time, you would not see much daylight if there was a front drum brake behind the wheel. If you are going to use the Freightliner wheels why don't you use the 11.00-22 tires from the kit too? But the MPC/ERTL 11.00-20 tires are not that bad of a fit on the AMT Freightliner wheels (I just tried myself) and 11.00 is supposed to be the tread width and 1 inch in 1:25th scale is just under 1 millimeter so it's not that much difference between a 10.00 and a 11.00 tire, and the tire markings on the MPC/ERTL tires are so small that you almost have to have a magnifying glass to see what it says...so I'm sure it will work just fine. If you compare the different AMT and MPC/ERTL tires you will see that the AMT 10.00-20 is a lot smaller in diameter than the MPC/ERTL 11.00-20 and the Freightliner tires, the MPC/Ertl 11.00-20 tire are the widest in over all width and the AMT 10.00-20 tire is the narrowest, the tread width is nearly the same on the AMT 10.00-20 and the AMT 11.00-22 and slightly wider on the MPC/ERTL 11.00-22, so the scales on these tires are probably slightly off.
  18. It's an old AMT kit from the early 70's so it's a 40 footer. The only 53 foot trailers I know of in model form are the Moebius dry goods and reefer trailers.
  19. Yes it's a lot of money for a regular pony car...but this is a ready to go factory race car and only 69 of them has been built. In my opinion it's not as cool as the original 1969 COPO Camaros wich I rather would have but it's cool for today...and I really like the look of the 15 inch wheels instead of the huge street wheels used on the standard Camaros.
  20. All these models deserve their own threads, very nice work indeed Mr Scroggins
  21. I'm by no means an expert on MAN but I saw the MAN D2566 MK and MKF was available in the 26.321 before I answered in this topic earlier, it's 11.41 litres and was available with 320 horsepower, so I assumed it had to be that engine.
