Has anyone bought the 1986 Mustang GT from SMH? I bought one a few weeks ago and am disappointed in the quality of the casting. Not sure if I just got a bad one or???? The front end detail is way off and sail panel detail on the drivers is almost non existent. I own a full size 86 GT so maybe I'm being a bit too critical. I did contact SMH about the quality and they pretty told me to return it if not satisfied. Just wondering in the quality of their other bodies? Has anyone bought their stuff before? Zen

anyone know if Freds model world is closed?
Zen replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Tried to buy a few kits from him last month but everything I wanted was not available, He said a new list should be coming out soon...…… apparently not. -
Yup, east coast bound for next year, go check it out! Was hoping they would come back to the Midwest.

Same here, everything but the Garlit's dragsters at our store.

Looking good so far, had no idea you had to build an LX version out of the GT.

Well done, love the SVO's!

Probably not able to pin it, will try some epoxy and maybe some small wire on the backside.

Are the Glidden decals available? Don't see them on your website. -
Yup, it's a clean break. Tried Testors liquid glue & Extreme Power super type glue.

Are the Johan promo cars made in a styrene plastic as the regular glue kits? Been trying to fix a broken windshield post on a Johan Maverick promo with no success, keeps breaking apart on me. Thanks, Zen

Well that's good news! That hood scoop appears a lot larger & shaped differently than from the first pic you posted. -

Matt, Just noticed this when using the 83 hood on the early 79,80, café racer bodies is that the hood lines do not match up to the cowl area. Even on the 1:1 cars this is the issue, the earlier cars (1979 to 82) used a smaller cowl. This on the Monogram body.........might not be a huge issue??? -
Are those Merkur trans kits still available?

I know I should of went now, instead I decided to watch the MI / Ohio game......dang it

Advice needed re Monogram Fox Mustangs
Zen replied to Matt MC's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I would agree that using the Monogram parts would result in a better looking 1983. Using the 83 convertible nose with the 80 body is the way to go, could use the hood scoop from the MPC 83 kit. Rear spoiler on the 80 body looks correct for the 83. The rear seat could be cut out and replaced with sheet plastic. I have built several of the Monogram Fox body cars and by swapping noses & hoods you can up with several different versions of the cars. I've done a 80 convertible (never really made), 84 1/2 GT350 convertible, Pace car, etc. I have several "scrap" bodies of the Monogram version plus a bunch of spare parts and even multiple complete kits of all the Monogram versions. PM me with what you may be interested in. Zen
