  1. Bryan, this is what you are talking about:
  2. Thanks, Ira. Hopefully it will stay this low when I put the interior in. Speaking of weathered . . . this was what happened the last time I built this kit:
  3. Of course, I want to avoid this kind of extreme weathering . . . LOL!
  4. James, there's a lot of repetition in the stock, but that's exactly what I like because when I see a kit I want, I can walk out with a couple instead of the one. I am glad this hobby shop is in town, so I get a lot of kits from them to keep up my support. I'd be real sorry if they ever closed.
  5. Wow, that's quite an engine in there. Nice model.
  6. HA! I love it. Great idea.
  7. I'm digging it, looking forward to more.
  8. Thanks, Bryan, yes I think that's a 37, and I do remember this car, which I think is part of the inspiration. Thanks, Andy, I am really enjoying this kit. I get the feeling it my not be the last I build. It was a pain filling in the front and rear bumper bracket wells.
  9. I am looking for 40 Fords like this that are mild rats, not all out RATS, if you know what I mean. It's not going to be this low in the back . . . I'm telling you, these fat fenders in this kit really take me way back to my childhood when I started building models. This was probably one of the first kits I ever built. I would buy my kits at the local Thrifties . . . I've always loved this model.
  10. I was in the process of lowing the suspension on this puppy when I figured the STREET ROD version of this kit is already pretty low. I fiddled with it to make it a few scale inches lower. We'll see. And I love the chassis in this kit. The frame is nice and all the parts go together very well. Of course, I build with sub-assemblies in mind. The rolling chassis is going to be mostly black with a bit of weathering, etc . . .
  11. Thanks, B. I'm glad you are looking in. Hum, I thought about that, but I want to see what else is out there. This will be my fallback plan. I was thinking of baby blue and gray wheels . . . I hope people will help me out with reference pictures.
  12. I filled in the bumper bracket holes in the front and back so that I can have a smooth look all the way around. So far I've wet sanded and smoothed the body and got the rolling chassis built. The wheels and tires are from the STANDARD 40 Ford kit. I wanted to have a nice set of wide walls. I really like this kit so it would not surprise me if I build a few of these before the year is over . . .
  13. All right, folks, Doctor Cranky is at the bench working on something new, none other than the newly released (but not really new) Revell 1940 Ford (Street Rod Coupe). This one is a blank canvas insofar as I don't know how I am going to paint it yet. I know it is going to be somewhat of a mild rat rod, and so I am going to need your help with whatever color ideas you want to throw my way. As always, greatly appreciated that you are watching, commenting, and getting the Old Doctor CRANKED up. Feel free to post cool photographs of ratty 40 Fords you might have in your archives or that you find on the internet. Here is what I'm starting with:
  14. Just curious to know how they'd work, that's all.
  15. Hello, everyone, I am sure I am not the only one who has noticed GOOGLE, FACEBOOK, MSNBING, YAHOO Listed in the USER's LIST. Can anyone explain what this is, please?
  16. This Hobby Town is in Tallahassee.
  17. Well, this hobby town is owned by someone who loves models, so he always carries a variety, and the stuff I urge him to order too. It's one of the few all-around hobby shops left in the State of Florida.
  18. Mike, I don't know how to do that. Or maybe I can, hold on. Like this, you mean?
  19. Here's what the selection looks like. Most of these kits go between 18.99 to 24.99.
  20. I'm on my way to my local Hobby Town and I plan on taking a picture of the kit selection. Stay tuned in.
  21. Good work, nice color combo too.
  22. Excellent paint. You got very good results with that clear.
  23. Looking good. I would like to do mine as a surf wagon.
