  1. Jason, you build a heck of a nice and beautiful model, and I see many stylistic touches on your models which would make it easy for me to pick your work out of any line up, most of it having to do with a clean, and beautifully painted vehicle.
  2. Ed, I just went through it with my book. They wanted exactly 60 percent off the retail price of 29.95, so I would have to give them a huge price break just to that they can make money, which is fine with me, but I'm not the publisher nor distributor of it.
  3. Rob, you are absolutely right, it would be a hassle now to take your tool kit on a plane with you. You'd probably lose 90 percent of your stuff. And if you put it through luggage, good luck it getting there. No, the best thing is to take it on the road in your car.
  4. Luke, that's turning out to be a beautiful model. You are almost there. Finish it, it will make you swell with pride and joy!
  5. J.C., that's a good one. I am surprise they have that solid front without any graphics. That's a very cool ride, but I will pass for that kind of money. HA!
  6. Oh, I know more than a few of us model on the run, including all those folks who participate in those 24 Hour builds hosted at a either a club house or in someone else's house.
  7. Patrick, normally those two words never go together--if you don't believe me, ask Crazy Jim--custom and junker. Nothing beats a well-weathered and worn junker. Good luck with it, and do post pictures of your progress. You can remove two wheels on one side and have it be sitting up on blocks.
  8. I really like the combination too.
  9. Sweet. Love this build. Lots of great details and the color is just right.
  10. Rob, that build is turning out very cool. VERY VERY COOL indeed. Love the fact that you used the kit wheels and weathered them. Excellent. You are on fire!
  11. Tackle boxes are great. Shoot, even a converted ammo case would be cool. Or if you are good with carpentry, you can probably make an excellent.
  12. A friend of mine who is a trucker and a model builder is always on the go and he travels with his styrene addiction every where he goes, so the other day I ran into this Tim Holtz video. Tim Holtz is a big name in crafting circles and he's always coming up with great ideas . . . including this one, which I think is perfect for those of us who move from place to place and will still want to build as we go. I don't know how much these things are, but you can get the same idea by getting some vintage tool or tackle boxes from Wal Mart and other places. I just though it'd be interesting to find out what most of you do when you go on vacation or travel for extensive periods of time. Here's Tim's video. I hope you get lots of inspiration from it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=riH3JHxtyNM And remember, just because you leave your workbench doesn't mean you have to stop building models! Cheers, DC
  13. Thank you for the kind words. I know this Revell 41 Willys kit (both the Street and the Gasser) will always be a part of my collection just like the 49 Merc and the AMT 50 Chevy Pick Up--THEY ARE GREAT KITS you will never tire of building.
  14. I say if you are on a budget, you can't go wrong with the Paasche H to start with, and later you can move on to either, Grex, Iwata, Badger . . . there are so many choices. Check out the Airbrush issue that Airbrush Magazine publishes once a year. They have lots of great information.
  15. Michael, as you will find out from everyone's answers, you will see that there a many approaches to painting models and getting shiny results. You have to find out (through trial and error and lots of practice) what will work best for you. My advice is to always practice on either a scrap body or plastic spoons. You will save a few models that way. I think you can get excellent results using rattle cans. Tamiya makes lots of wonderful products . . . start simple and go from there. Best wishes, DC
  16. What a beauty, nice color and the stance is just right with those gold wheels. Looking forward to seeing this one finished.
  17. Bill it's a mesh template I have. You can find all sorts of neat stuff to shoot paint through at the fabric store, or at the grocery store.
  18. Love the mods! I'm amazed at how easily you work this metal!
  19. Thanks, Tommy, that"s great reference material!
  20. Thanks for the right answer, Shawn. Nobody has a more distinct look that Mr. Foose right now. He can take any old car and make it look current, modern, almost what they should be putting out in Detroit.
  21. That looks like a great car. Yes, too bad it's not out in regular styrene.
  22. I love those little trucks, Luke. I have one or two of those kits I would like to build one of these lifetimes!
  23. Steven, very nice work. I would love to do a whole wall of the workshop with some cool graffiti like that. Thanks for sharing. Mike Grover, your avatar now has a lot of meaning for many of us.
  24. Revell is releasing this one just in time this month:
  25. I just saw this one is schedule for a March release. Has anyone seen it or have pictures, other than this? I can't wait to get my hands on it. Wow, 140 pieces, Skill Level 3. Sweet. All right, folks, just found a copy at my LHS and have decided to do an unboxing video of it. Enjoy:
