I have to agree with you, Harry. Tommy does tend to over-embellish and is at his best when he keeps it simple. But the technical high-flying, combined with a sense of humour, are part of his success formular.
Another great looking model from your bench, Stan. I have a soft spot for Capris and I love that 70s "Poison Green".
(In 1972 my father bought a Cortina 2000E with the rectangular headlights and mini-lite style wheels - loved that car and still have guilt pangs because I wrecked it.)
Wow, that's really convincing. I like that there's still plenty of body paint visible - often there's just too much body rust on this sort of model (IMHO).
I can only agree with the others - a truly outstanding replica, virtually indistiguishable from the real car, even with the direct comparison which you invite with the first two pics. Wunderschön!
I wasn't building models in 1978 but this must have been state-of-the-art then (just as your models are today). Personally I think it would be a great shame to pull it apart - there are other models to be built, John.
My Uncle Fred's brand new, pale blue and white 58 Custom 300 Fordor was what triggered my lifetime love of US cars from the period. I was 8 at the time.
Really nice model.
I much prefer the roof on the 64/65 to the 66 so I have the same promo and will give it a similar treatment one day. They still sell for reasonable money if you're not too fussy about condition.
This is a 62 that I restored last year...
