  1. Man that is beautiful!!!
  2. Great looking model! You wouldn't know you can open the doors - until you open them. That alone is a real achievement. Usually there are unseemly gaps when someone does this. And the prototypical hinging is very impressive.
  3. This one in 1.32nd from Tomy, later also Hasegawa, is one of the finest kits in my collection. Not to be confused with the Matchbox kit, it has diecast, plastic and photo-etch parts plus fine wire-mesh parts for the grille and light covers. Also the windshield has a chrome printed frame, something I've only seen on Tomy kits.
  4. An AMT employee painted this one way back in 1962, in time for the real car's debut in showrooms across America. I think he did a pretty good job and I wasn't about to mess with it. But I can never leave promos alone and had to add what detail you see here: a bit of a polish, BMF, a few painted details, Modelhaus replacement tyres, fresh chrome from the AMT kit, mirrors, antenna, plates etc. Of course, unless you repaint, you can't get rid of mold seams and the like but they are so minimal on these "first edition" pressings that it's not a big deal. These guys really new what they were doing and promos of this era are as crisp as anything you'll find today. I've been working on a 64 Impala promo at the same time and that will be finished shortly. I bought them here in Switzerland as a pair 25 years ago for a fraction of their current value but stupidly passed on a mint 67 Camaro! BTW the little spots you see, eg on the rear fender in the first shot, are dirt in my camera lens, not in the promo's paint. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  5. Very nice! I also have the snapper and it looks to me to be the best rendition of the '57 I've seen so far. The wheel/tyre combination is particularly well done.
  6. VERY nicely done! Good photography too.

    67 Charger

I really like everything about this! Except the wheels
  8. Very nice indeed!
  9. That looks really cool!
  10. Very cool!
  11. I really like the blue truck! I'd love to have that on my shelf.
  12. Obviously you haven't forgotten how to make a great looking model!
  13. That Ranch Wagon looks great, Tom.
  14. Very nice! And so great that there is a model of this car, although expensive these days. Not enough wagons and 4-door sedans in this scale.
  15. Man that is one fine model car!!! That top and its window are SO right. Beautiful!
  16. Absolutely beautiful! Odd that this iconic subject has never been kitted with the respect it deserves.
  17. Wow, that is extremely well done! Nothing gluebombish there.
  18. Looks great! My favourite Lambo.

    Cool!
  20. Perfect!!!
  21. Fireflite.
  22. Richard, I know I'm going to like this - my sort of model and you always do them so well. Looking forward to progress. I'm a big fan of the X-EL re-issues and have bought them whenever I could. Here is my 59 Chrysler which I haven't done anything with yet. The lighter blue is bare plastic, the darker blue is the original paint, and I will leave it like that, just polish and foil. Not sure yet what to do with the side trim, probably aliminum and foil. After a lot of searching I bought this Modelhaus interior - it's from their 60 Chrysler wagon and the only half-way suitable 4-door interior I could find. I've hacked off the rear compartment and will add a package shelf. But I'm sure your solution will work just as well. And here's the 59 DeSoto (which the previous owner had foiled). I will have to paint the blue bits which are too matt to be polished. (Hope you don't mind me intruding on your thread to this extent.)
  23. Thanks for the info, Jon.
  24. Oh yeah, I like it alright! Very nice take on one of my favourite cars.

Nice and swoopy design, as much sculpture as model car.
