  1. Thanks so much everyone. Having never shown a model to anyone who understands, I'm somewhat overwhelmed at the response. The white around the Headlights is something I really never noticed before. And I thought I was being smart using 4 red tail lights - I had a parts kit so I drilled out the molded in upper lights and replaced them with the second red set. I've noticed since that this was wrong but I'm quite happy the way it is. Although I'm basically a rep-stock modeller, I'm not THAT fussy about accuracy.

Thanks for your kind comments everyone, very much appreciated. Charlie, thanks so much for pointing me to that chart - looks like I'm as close to a factory colour as I would have got had I been trying! I painted that one 25 years ago when I was just getting back into the hobby and there wasn't the internet for easy research.
  3. And thanks Erik, much appreciated!
  4. Brilliant Harry, your ice cream is on the way! The trim pieces you're referring to were done with BMF. First the vertical bits individually and then a thin strip layed horizontally over them. And thanks Bill, that's very kind of you.
  5. Thanks so much Harry, I really appreciate your comments. Yes, chrome headlight lenses are a problem and I've tried all the remedies over the years - never saw any real improvement. The latest thing I tried was Testors' Clear Parts Glue after a tip on this forum but it didn't work for me. The only thing to do would be to drill them out and replace them - but I can't be bothered!
  6. This is my latest completion. Paint is Zero base with Tamiya clear and I was aiming at Ice Blue but I didn't get quite cold enough. The tyres are Modelhaus (I can't remember the last time I used kit tyres!) and the antenna is a surgical needle with a piece of guitar string inserted and a tiny globule of clear epoxy on top. The distributor is from Morgan Automotive Detail and one of the nicest aftermarket products out there IMO. The interiors on this era of Johan kits were just a tub, a dash and a steering wheel so a bit of a challenge to detail - I've kept it simple. Oh yes, and the wheels are not stock - a free ice cream if you can identify them. The originals need rechroming but I'll probably never get round to it. 7. Thats really nice Krishna - great paint finish and decals.
  8. Very nice! One tough looking truck, despite the colour! Love that dirt and the windscreen wipe is very realistic.
  9. Thanks so much everybody. Charlie, after some experimentation I wound up airbrushing a mix of Zero acrylics with Alclad Chrome (!), one colour for the dash and another for the seats and walls. The walls needed a second, darker colour also, according to the only photos I could find and I did that with a Humbrol mix. I always mix my own colours, with varying degrees of success, but I have done it in the past professionally for the graphic industry and enjoy that aspect of painting.
  10. My first model sure didn't look that good! Nice work.
  11. Here's another one I finished last year, quite an impressive kit for it's time but somewhat confusing if you try following the instructions. I bought this one on Ebay with a painted body, a bit of a risk but with some polish it came out quite nicely. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  12. Very nice indeed! I don't see ANYTHING to critisize, just a lot to admire.
  13. Wow! Really great, nails that era so well. Would the owner wear a floppy hat, big shades, high-rise shoes and bell-bottoms and want to make a deal?
  14. Thanks everyone, much appreciated! I'll try and post the photo again that I've somehow managed to delete.

Thanks for your comments, very much appreciated!
  16. Thanks so much for your comments, approval on this forum means a lot to me. Lee, there is no PE here, scripts and badges are all done with BMF before paint. Harry, the plates are from a set of photographed items bought several years ago and, to be honest, I didn't know till now what RZRBK stood for! Other examples I've used from the set are RUGRUV and EZ2PLEZ. Mike, yes Corona Cream was what I was aiming for and I think I'm not way off. The interior should represent "Fawn Beige" (which was your only choice for a Corona Cream BelAir in 62) but I may have been less successful there. I'll try and put an interior shotup today.

Thanks so much for all your comments, it means a lot to me. I'll see if I can do some decent interior shots today.
  18. I've posted this in someone else's thread but I'm big-headed enough to want to show it on its own. Finished last year, box stock except for some wire and Satco tyres. Paint is Zero base with Tamiya clear and scripts were all done with the "Foil Before Paint" method. Please excuse the dust in the engine bay. Hosted on Fotki
  19. Very tasty indeed! Love the colours.
  20. Fantastic work as always Marcos! I just hope the average review reader doesn't think they're also going to achieve such a result!
  21. Thanks everyone, your comments are very much appreciated. Niko, I don't have more shots of the engine right now but how about a 409 in the mean time....
  22. Different alright and wonderful. I'm assuming you did one and your brother the other, so the talent runs in the family.
  23. Another one I finished this year, my third completion of this simple but great kit since it's first release. (The other two are long gone.) I did the engine but didn't detail it because the whole engine bay, with it's Chevy V8, is very wrong, hence no photos. I toyed with the idea of transplanting the Trumpeter 64 chassis but firstly it's expensive and secondly I couldn't be bothered. 13" wheels and tyres are from the Modelhaus. I've included a detail shot of the rear FORD script to illustrate the "Foil Before Paint" method, which I think works very well.
  24. Beautiful quartett! I'm only familiar with the 1:25th version and I don't remember ever seeing a nicer one but the others match it.
  25. Really beautiful. The old Monogram kits were great and you've more than done justice to this one.
