How long do you wait to remove masking?
moparmagiclives replied to Lunajammer's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
To many variables, practice, practice, practice !! What are you using for paint? Primer? Tape? Temp? -
Not to be picky bud, but those are rocker shafts, not cams in the head. They do look cool with no valve cover on though, make a neat "in the pits" dio for something.

Chrome pinstriping
moparmagiclives replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If this is for the 1/16 car that was already moved once, I would use the same process you were thinking about with the paints, but go to the craft store and get some leaf sizeing, and lay that down in your taped area, remove and apply silver leaf once its set. Its not to hard to work with. -
If it was prepped properly and your using a good painters tape, you shouldnt have any problems with the paint job you've already done for a few days at least, if at all. I would be more concerned with clear you laydown, then the black, and letting it dry and then over that with chrome. I think your going to get one heck of a build line. But that may work to your advantage as some dimension to your trim, but I think your going to have alot of flash that will tear up you trim when you pull the tape.

The Solor Cup ran this weekend. This is a shot looking down in the lagoon. This is just a small portion of the pits. I was a little disapointed they did'nt have any Grand prix running, but they had alot more super stocks then I remember the last few years. guess I'll just have to wait till the Big Boys run on the columbia...darn

My wife and I went to see " Dark Shadows" last night. I knew what the movie was about, but being set in 1972, they did a good job of keeping the characters vehicles very lively. I wasn't expecting that. I think the coolest was the late 50s early 60s ford panel. I won't go into to much more', as to spoil it for anyone who might want to watch it. Pretty entertaining movie .

How not to drive a Lambo
moparmagiclives replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's exactly how to drive a Lamborghini, I bet they couldn't do that again if they tried. -
Thats killer !!! I like how you made use of the wheels. I regret painting mine black,

My "Gearz" Contest Entry 396 Chevelle
moparmagiclives replied to moparmagiclives's topic in Model Cars
Thanks guys. Tom, the pictures really disapointed me. Its a very cool color in person. Almost a candy when it comes out of the can. Its blue when you spray it, then gets darker and darker till its green, almost black. But it has some gold pearl to it in the sun. Oh well. -
Revell / Gearz contest question
moparmagiclives replied to Bruno's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
And as was already said, it would be nice for the custom guys to have a chance to list all the modifications done on the entry form. Concidering the photo size and amount of photos that are alowed. But I guess that just levels the playing field that much more. -

That's cool man, and a killer monster truck. I really like the puzzle piece flags ! -
I was able to get this done last night and get some pictures taken at lunch time to send in. I entered it in the box stock class, over 16 novice, this is my 5th completed model, 2nd this year (a new record). I was going for a used "overhaulin" type of build, Ive always wondered what happens to those cars when they get done. So I built one. The color is mopar, Anaconda Green. lots of different tones of black for the inside and lots of black wash for everything else. Thanks for looking.

moparmagiclives replied to Bruno's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I selected the 5 Pics I wanted to send and they didnt go, so I emailed all 5 to myself, selected the size I wanted that fit under 2MB and sent it. Resized all at once. Got them to go, and the Thank you page. Good luck everyone !!!! -

I'm sure it will dive Dr., its the surfacing part thats tricky... I bet the salt water corrosion/barnacle look would catch on pretty quick, "sea-steam punk" ???
