50 Chevy Pick-up
moparmagiclives replied to doomcrew's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
It looks that way because your on the other side of the world, Great build man, The only thing I don't like about this body style is that the cab lines are so much taller then the bed rails. But your chop sure helps hide that a little. -
Interesting Airbrush Stencils

I like the circuit boards, I haven't seen those before. You could do a lot of background filler with those. -
Where does your nostalgia lie?
moparmagiclives replied to JollySipper's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It's wired you guys say that, growing up in Washington, that stuff was and is everywhere here. It doesn't seem very nostalgic, but I guess it's been 20 years or so hadn't it. Man time flys !!! -
Where does your nostalgia lie?
moparmagiclives replied to JollySipper's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Im only 32, so I didn't think I had a lot to feel nostalgic about. But after reading this I got to thinking, every time I happen to see ( doesn't happen much anymore) a car setting on 13" wires or one that happens to be "juiced" (hydraulics) it takes me back to the mid 90's when I was in jr high and highschool. I was so into the low rider scene I could taste it back then. I don't know if I grew out of it or away from the people. But it still gets me excited when I hear a set of "a" arms clapping !!! -

Just like a decal Harry, the vinal "sticker" wont set the adhesive untill the water is evaporated...so you have a short window to move it around and place it. On a side note, what brand and model of plotter do you have Mark? I would like to get one for airbrush work. But all I get from the sign shops is info on big industrial models. Great looking wheels and tires, even for the age that chrome SHINES !!! -
Question about the Ford 9"
moparmagiclives replied to Monty's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thats clearly not a factory stock vehicle, so why leave the center section that horrid brown primer ??? why not just paint it to match the rest of the suspension, or even the body color if you want it to stand out. -
Question about the Ford 9"
moparmagiclives replied to Monty's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The centers were painted before they were ever loaded with gears I would have to say. When you have a large production going its just easier to have the parts that are ready to assemble to meat a perticular order VS.units already built and hope they will sell. Just paint it in a cast aluminum metalizer and call it good. -

Really? Is that the rule? Man do I feel dumb. -
Question about the Ford 9"
moparmagiclives replied to Monty's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think it's a way to tell the story of what's been done to it, center section swap out, lost it in a race last weekend. That kind of thing. -
'cuda coming back!
moparmagiclives replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's what is cool about the Romeo plat form the dart is built on. It can be set up as fwd, rwd, or awd at the factory. Pretty smart I think, for up comming models they may want to release. -
Help me decide
moparmagiclives replied to kurth's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Go with the Camaro, nothin can beat a small block Chevy on a budget. More bang for your buck. Tunnel ram on a "stroked" small block. Go for it man !!! Can't wait to se what you pick and build. These kinds of builds are fun to see. You can really tell a story with a trailer and tow rig. -
'cuda coming back!
moparmagiclives replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hold on, Are we talking about the "Cuda" coming back or the "Barracuda" comming back as an SRT brand car ? Allpar has some stuff about the Barracuda coming on an Alfa Romeo platform, but I dont see anything on the Cuda. Either way, I dont see another V8 car comming around. Other then very limited #s. -

moparmagiclives replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
If I remember right, they were talking about a car like the viper but with a V8. Maybe this will be it. I think it will be pointless to have another V8 two door car. They havent had so much luck with the 6.2 Challenger. I think that market fuzzed out when the Challenger first came out...not to many more looking to buy. Dont get me wrong, who wouldnt want one. But not much use with three little ones and a 50 mile commute to work. -

This is my best so far. #4 of my long (so my wife says) line of models to finish. I was able to incorperate a little of everything I've learned so far from this site and the magazines I've been able to get the last few years. I'm not very fast. -

How are you going to rig a motor stop to keep the cam from running back to center? Or are you counting on running the motors one direction only?
