  1. Why not just "Chevy" or "Ford", or even "Dodge"....Do they even need a model on it.
  2. This is something else ! What are you using to rejoin the parts? I have to ask though, who asks for a diorama of this type of thing? Is it for a musiam type display? Those models your using dont come cheap do they? Doesnt anyone make a 33/34 in plastic? Cant wait to see more.
  3. Thats what caught my eye as well, I sure hope so. I don't fallow it much either, but I got a little giddy when I seen it.
  4. I didnt see this posted already, so I hope I'm not reposting old news. I just got some pics of the new cup car from Chryslers dealer site. It looks pretty neat I think, for a race car. I know this is nascar related, but I'm sure there are a few people who might like to see this but might not be into it enough to read the nascar posts regularly.
  5. Nice one Andy, if I ever get my mongoose finished I'm going to have to get one of these.
  6. 27% over last year where im at. ..... Like I said, keep the minds busy with the small stuff. But it's not a political debate. So on to the hobby topic...you guys who use a lot of brass and aluminum for scratch building, how has that been affected at the register?
  7. The cost of fuel is going up, just as it does every spring. But we do have it better then most country's, the media hypes it up to get us all roused about it and take our attention off more important topics. Everyone talks about the price of the oil barrel going up and we get into a frenzy... Did you know most of the gas you pump in th states doesn't come from the oil or the barrel ??? Its a synthetic blend from the garbage that is going to go to waste anyway. Hmm... Why does it cost do much ? Oh yeah, we have to have it, that's right. Personally, I'll take the cut for fuel from something less enjoyable then my past times. Like I need another 5 dollar cup of coffee anyway.
  8. I like the ease of poping the top off a rattle can and pushing the trigger. I use a lot of factory ( mopar ) colors so, a little warm water and well shaken, I think they lay flat, thin and smooth. About the only time I use my airbrush is to spray metallic looking finishes on wheels, intakes and valve covers and such, crank the air up and hold it back a little. Looks just like cast aluminum or cast iron. But, that's what's been working for me.
  9. Safety first, rock on man !!!
  10. Go to the site and print them out.....they are open six days a week right? Lol
  11. Michales is the same way correct? Even though the selection is no where near hobby lobby. Now, if I can just figure out hobby town USA's problem with prices....
  12. How many 1:1 cars have you seen that look no way "drivable' of functional ?? I understand the question at hand, I depends on the subject matter, scale replica? Or creative concept? I think there is a lot to respect of both styles.
  13. I picked up a viper promo from AMT off the " toy peddler " web site. It was pretty cheap. But I don't think I will be touching it untill I can find another one.
  14. That's a whole different problem right there buddy lol
  15. That's a pretty thick paint isn't it? Try different build thicknesses, maybe decant it and try it ?
  16. Better late then never I guess...
  17. Go to a good parts store that offers motorcycle pars an see if the have a "no load" flasher to run the LEDs.
  18. It's not, but that's a great outboard !!! I'm going to have to look for one of those. Thanks for the pic
  19. I don't know that they are smaller, grand prix vs. unlimited. But I'm not looking for the old shovel nose boat for sure, I'll have to look at the pickle fork boat combo.
  20. Has anyone ever seen plastic/ resin kits of modern hydroplanes? Prefurably grand prix style. I've searched and found lots of older drag boats and classic hydroplanes, but nothing new. Anyone?
  21. I'm a very mechanical person, I need something to do with my hands. And if I'm not building with them, I've done it 10 times in my head already. It's a great way for me to get out my industrial frustrations out, and quiet my mind. I don't have the cash flow to do it with three little ones( two just starting school) in the garage much anymore, so the hobby bench has turned into my "church" as it were, the last few years. It's a lot of my interest all wrapped up into one little box, painting, building, automotive science, history and lots of childhood memories. The fact that I have something to show for it when im done isn't to big of a deal anymore, it's the journey there that I'm starting to crave. I have yet to sit down with a project and search out every angle and story of it like skip was talking about, but I'm almost to that point. I just haven't found the right subject to capture my attention that way. Soon I'm sure. I'm a car guy by nature/ family / and profession but I find myself looking at more and more non automotive projects as well all the time. In fact I just scored a "black lagoon" figure and a tank kit the other day on eBay.... Things are a chagin.
  22. Cool little car, would have been cooler with out the V8 though
