moparmagiclives replied to Darin Bastedo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Really. you asked about this one? Thats a bummer, I guess its a modification, but so is drilling the exhaust. -
Umm yeah it does. It just holds that polish job better then softer clears.

moparmagiclives replied to Darin Bastedo's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I never gave thought to their 50% unlimited class... Good call. I wondered how they were going to rate 50% last year, is it by total kit piece #s or by how many parts you glue on it? I would say as long as each aspect of the car ( wheels and tires, body, engine, interior) all keep 50% you should be good. -
I dont know a lot about the model show scene, but on a 1:1 scale, I have seen lots of cats year after year with the same unchanged car/truck It gives the owner a sence of belonging I think to have it to enter. I don't know how much it affects the outcome of the show, if it's old, it's not the latest craze so it's not a front runner anyway. That reason aloan is why I was so into the low rider scene in high school in the last part of the 90s, the same car that would win a title would come back the next year even more radical, very competitive. I don't think that's very possible with a plastic kit. If I had something with tons of my time and talent in it, I wouldn't change it, but I wouldn't wasn't to hide after the first few shows either. Just park it next to the newest edition and call it a family !

What are the best types of airbrushes?

....you forgot internal and external mix... I have a badger 175, with all three tip sizes. It's nice but, a little finiky and a lot of parts to have on hand. I have an "h" as you were bidding on, same thing as the 175, lots of parts to keep on hand. My go to guy is my Iwata eclipse cs. I use it for mural work. I've got a matco knock off that looks just like my eclipse that Ive been using for models and other hobby type things. Seems to work pretty well -
Yeah, there is nothing like being a nine year old, and seeng the jet powered black monster running the city streets for the first time....in 1989.. Thats whats great about the whole "Batman" world, there is one for every generation. Cool !!!

Hey lane, Is your signature a line from "Contry Boy" by Aaron Lewis ? As for me, It started as an email address that I opened with yahoo for work ( chrysler tech support wanted an email address to contact us) Its just stuck with me for most everything now. -
The 89 version has always been my favorite, where did you get the figure? My kit from Amt doesn't have one. Do you have the mail order armor for it? It adds a pretty cool factor to it.

2nd build into my model car hobby ( 69 camaro ss )
moparmagiclives replied to modelbuilder22's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Do a search for block sanding cars on line, Then you can use that info for the small scale. Prime, then use a guide coat ( different color) over that and then start sanding. Once all the top coat is gone and the under coat is visable,...do it again. then your smooth. Just be carefull not to loose all your detail. Key words, block sanding and guide coats. Look those up, and read up on them, practice practice practice and your in buisness ! -
Inventive way to destroy a race car.
moparmagiclives replied to ranma's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I didnt say it wasnt possible, I was getting at, that wasnt much of a fact . I think we can all figure out that "something" locked up .. And I do apologize for being so lazy and assuming that the jet dryers were being used to dry the track of a race that was already rained out once, and no, I dont watch NASCAR, didnt know the kind of antics I was missing. -

I'm sure everyone knows it was not done intenionally, but "something in the transmission" doesnt sound like actual facts, even from personal friends. That much was seen from the film. Why were there tanks of jet fuel on a wet track with race cars peroid? thats just asking Mr. Murphy for his opinion.. -

Well, for starters you got the wrong brand. But you got the color right... Just kiddin man. Is this your first coat? Do you plan on blocking it out? Go over every scale inch of that thing an get her FLAT. Maybe mist a light coat of black over that and don't stop sanding till its all grey. Then make her shine !!! What color do you plan to finish with ? -
What would look better

Phoenix Area Shops?
moparmagiclives replied to Danger's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Man, I havent thought about this place for a wile. When I lived there going to school in 98-99, I lived on 19th and Northern. There was a small hobby shop that was mostly lowrider/ tuner parts, not far from there. The guy from Anzalinies ( Angelienes ?) sub shop would come in with his stuff and blow everyones off the counter...pretty cool stuff. There was a chain store right across from my apartment on Northern, Hobby town (?) I think, bretty basic stuff....but 10 year ago wont help you much now.. thanks for the strole down memory lane anyway. I wonder if that sub shop is still there ??? HUGE subs and pizzas !!! -
As soon as I get my revell entry started and finished..hehee, I'm in with a 57 chev. I've been wanting to do a model of B Reals green 57 from the late 90s for a wile now. Gunna have to get some info now I guess

Is it possible...
moparmagiclives replied to SuperStockAndy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Every kit I own is open, so I guess they are all started, but for the most part, my builds are pretty "mood" driven. So if I'm not feeling real fast and hard core, the dragster goes in the box. If I'M not feeling very laid back and smooth, the custom or lowrider goes night, night. I will say iI never have more then 3,4 goig at one time. I have this OCD about to many unfinished things. If I can tell my self they are still in progress, I'm ok.. ....I know, its a sickness
