  1. Has anyone used the newer mongoose kit to build the blue hotwheels car. I dont like the goofy roof spoiler on it, but I dont like the color layout of the other. Slixx makes a decal set for the hotwheels car. would it be horrible to build the hotwheels with out the scoop? Is there more that difers the two, that one would notice right away? I'm not into building actual race car repclicas but I would like to come close with one. I already have the red kit. I think its revell? have to dig it out. Any info would be great, thanks guys
  2. Not that it matters much, but I subscribed to brand "x" mag last year. about 4 weeks later I recieved my first of 6 issues of my year and the first one was the same issue I bought and tore out the mailer from. So really I paid for 5 issues. Oh well....maybe it will be a collectors item in the plastic some day. I would like to see an issue of Model car mag some day, but have never seen it on the stands in washington or oregon.
  3. I think it looks better with the top body color than it does chromed, good job. I had this kit once in the tin box....not sure what happened to it, but would like to try one. Again, good job man.
  4. MrMike, I wish I would have thought of that when I built mine. It stares at me now, like it knows its not suposed to look like that... Guess I should get another and do it right. It was a fun build though, other than the molded in exhaust.
  5. double 5%, why so dark? Its going to be hell driving at night. your cell phone goes off and you wont be able to see out of the windows from the flash back... Looks good though. Leave the paint and do something like this. This is 35, cut and then 35 layed over the top. so the darkest spots are a little darker than 20 and the light is just 35. This is my old neon, It looks even better on trucks with a big back window. I have some of a mazda I did if you want to see them. just pm your email.
  6. I dont beleive there are any pictures out of the new viper, because there is no new viper yet. the one that was "driven" out at the dealer meeting in Florida was actualy a clay model that was "motored" out on to the stage. Should be interesting if things alow it to go into production. Allpar.com has some artists concepts that are close but again, there is no car yet.
  7. I drove up from Moses lake Saturday mornig and was lucky enough to see these first hand. Great builds, I was on my to portland on monday and seen the signs for the show. I didnt have enough time to get anything together for it, but maybe next time. Could someone let me know when something else comes up in that area. Not much happens on this side of the desert. Great job again.
  8. I'm really big into custom painting and pin stiping,...kinda funny though, I own 6 airbrushes and have yet to use one on a model... . I've started to get into ho slot cars a little with my kids, some r/c stuff. mostly just because I can paint them up. I've got a never ending project in my 1964 ford falcon, have just picked up a 429 and c6 trans, so out come the air bags and here comes the solid axle.... Anyone in need of a .o60 over 351w? Never been ran yet.
  9. I know just how you feel, thats why I have never built a "factory" muscle car or sports car yet. I wouldnt build it that way in real life so why lie with plastic. My work bench is an extension of my garage...has nothing to do with the chalenge or quality of a kit to me, just the love of the game. It also goes long with my answer to my wifes questions of " why do you need another model project?"........ " I dont, I need more parts"
  10. Picked up the Motor city muscle boss mustang from revell....pretty clean model, should be a fun build. The front shocks kinda...well.....shocked me.. had to grab the instructions to figure those out..
  11. My dads aunt gave me a bunch of nutty madds a few years ago, kinda remind me of these, but didnt know you could build and paint kits like them...pretty cool

But what amazing is that's 1,000 pounds lighter with the v10 than the 6.1 hemi....hmmm
  13. Just picked one of these up tonight, I'm really impressed witht the kit so far, yours makes me want to jump right in. great job.
  14. Is this the line for the Areosmith tickets.... This has turned into quite the witch hunt.. I can see the point of trying not to leave something unfinished, but at the same time....its called the "work bench" not the "worked and done bench" I personaly like the freedom of having people giving ideas in the middle of a project, that I or another builder might not of thought about. Guess thats part of the community part of this site.
  15. Is that the merc from "Cobra"...? Nice nova also, I've been to chicken to start mine yet. for one it cost to much to start and give up, so I just decided to give up first and start it latter..
  16. That didnt place? Did they bump you to the aviation class or something? Thats one of the cleanest Novas I've seen yet. Love the cabin area.
  17. Killer subject, and great job following it out. Here is your next mission, if you so choose.. This was taken at the Evergreen air and space mus. in McMinville Or. a few years back. It was sitting next to a P40 warhawk...pretty cool itself
  18. Sometimes I think the the bidders make there own bed though, I've been watching an opened AMT "Grave Digger" kit that was listed as starting at $9.95 with $9.10 ,would be cheaper to buy this one for 10 and pay the shipping at 10, then to pay the other auctions "buy it now" price of $25.00 plus $15.00 shipping. I just checked the auction last this morning and its been bid on 16 times and is up to $71.00, Is this really worth $81.00 shipped. I have been watching this because I collect Grave Digger stuff, but an open kit? What are the chances of the seller driving up the price them selves?
  19. Thats amazing weathering. The old service station emblem really brings everything together, I can smell the tarnished fuel from here..
  20. Well technicly I havent got them yet but.....I was just informed that I won my bids on a three model lot of the 89 batmobile, joker goon car and , batmobile cacoon. As well as a polar lights 66 batmoblie and bat plane. I wasnt expecting to win both auctions, or to end with one bid, but Both lots for 20 bucks Sound like a pretty good deal to me. Now to figure out what I'm going to do with all this Batman ######..lol. Guess I'll have to bust out my old Batman pj's and make a night out of it.
  21. Thats a lota motor.... Cool ideas
  22. I dont have a local Hobby shop near me, so I've come to find my self paying the extra shipping on ebay, and other places, because its still cheaper than driving a 80 miles to a shop, not to mention lunch and all the other stops that go along with a day out of town. But I have actualy gotten some pretty good deals lattly I think. I just recently purchesed about 10 models in the last week or two and I've only spent about 80 bucks or so between them including shipping. granted they may not be the "hot" kits out right now, but they will be more than enough to keep me out of trouble for wile. Just my two bits.
  23. Just got one off ebay, cant wait to build it now. Great job and great paint
  24. I thought about the v10, but its a pretty small car, with not much room stern to bow. I had'nt thought about the new hami though, but to be honest, it isnt much to look at. Thanks for the ideas though I've also been thinking about a 409, seem to have a few of those for some reason. Possibly blown with stacks. I love that engine, but always thought of it as an open fender style engine.
